Since 15 years I'm traveling and guiding photography tours in Iceland. Although I am Swiss, my heart and soul live in Iceland. At the age of 18 I hiked alone through the Icelandic highlands for almost 3 weeks. Since then I go to this magical place several times a year. A year without Iceland is a lost year. But Iceland has changed a lot within the last years - not least because of photographers and filmmakers like me, who are still getting more people to travel to this little country.
Many tourists in Iceland take no account of this fragile nature. They walk over the moss, let the engine run everywhere, leave their waste lying around, ...
But far from the Golden Cyrcle there is still a huge wealth of beauties that are deserted and untouched. Let us take care of this unique country.

Background Information
The first time I took a drone to Iceland was back in 2013. With a huge and heavy 4000 Watt power generator I had to load my battery packs to get in the air for only 8 minutes. The first drone was a monster and there were no regulations in flying drones in Iceland because drones were new and very rare. In this 5 weeks back in 2013 I could fly in areas and heights which are now prohibited. (some footage in this video has been taken in 2013). Since 2013 drones have changed. They became smaller, faster, better and much cheaper. The first drone I brought to Iceland had a price of over 25'000 Euro - but the biggest part of this production has been taken with a small drone costs 20 times less than that (Mavic Pro / Mavic Pro 2). For me Iceland is one of the most amazing countries on earth. Of course it did change a lot since my first visit. In 2004 there were about 100'000 tourists a year NOW in 2018/2019 they predict over 2.2 Million visitors.

you can sleep in tent everywhere, for free. You can eat meals prepare yourself. you take 3 friends and rent a car. Iceland can be cheap. You must want :) good luck :)

We were there in 2012 and it is the most memorable and awe inspiring place to go. It was life changing for us. Much love and respect to the Icelanders and their warm hospitality, their pride in their nation and the history they have hard won. Greetings from Australia.

Wie beeindruckend und schön die Natur ist. Wenn jeder das so sehen würde wären wir mit ihr in Einklang und würden sie nicht aus Habgier vernichten. Einfach nur wunderschön . Dort sein und alles in ruhe diese schönheit und ruhe in sich aufsaugen. Sich einfach für das öffnen und wirken lassen. Man zerrt davon ein Leben lang. Wenn es schlecht geht einfach in Gedanken zurückzukehren an diesen diesen schönen Ort. Man tankt soviel Kraft daraus.

You didn't just give music, you lowered its sound to accommodate natural water sounds like the beach and waterfalls. You used shadows and the setting sun to cast glistening light on ice and deep shadows on valleys, mountains and depressions. Congratulations. You are a true professional, sir. BG

I was asked the other day: what is my fav place to visit? Yes, I love to travel and have seen many wonderful places..... and I will take "local" trips. But I realize traveling through videos like this one allows me so many more adventures AND I CAN DO IT FROM MY HOME, ...no wasted gas or polluting the planet, no trampling upon this beautiful earth... good for me (saves me $$$..and I have to get local exercise) and good for these precious places.
This has to be the best Iceland video I have seen so far. I feel like I am there. I really want to go to Iceland.
It's like the dream of floating silently over and through some of the most incredible places. Thank you for bringing us that dream.

I've been to Iceland three years ago, and it was one of the most amazing journeys of my life. Incredible country, incredible nature.
Almost no animals. All those formed without any living creatures. All sounds of water and wind. The spectacular life of the unliving.

what a gorgeous lands
I've been to Iceland for the first time a year ago.. I've seen so many beautiful footages from Iceland, but not many do it justice. Your video here is the closest I've ever seen that reaches the peak of Icelandic perfection!!!!! Breathtaking!!! Absolutely breathtaking!!!!! Never have I ever seen a country as beautiful and stunning as Iceland. Seeing this video makes me want to go to The Land of Fire and Ice!!!!! Awesome work, as always!!!!!!
Beautifully shot! It makes me appreciate Iceland even more from these perspectives above. I visited in 2008 and went back 8 years later where I noticed a huge spike in tourism, there were so many tourists (and film sets)! It would be great to see a documentary about this growing issue. Iceland is such an incredible place.

That was absolutely stunning! Incredible aerial work! We can't wait to go back to Iceland!! This time it will have to be in the summer to see all the green lands! We went in February last year to film for 15 days and loved it so much! Again, amazing video!

@@DreamBig The terrain is so diverse that you could potentially see most of these things within a couple hours of driving just the southern part of the ring road. I'm not really talking about the lighting though, but in the summer you get 24 hours to work with

Great video. I feel lucky to have been twice to Iceland in the past 2 years. The third time I will be renting a 4X4 in order to explore the high lands and F roads. Beautiful pictures and I recognized a few places too.
