I agree with you that he should put a lot more bait in there but in my opinion that’s not gonna do much with that otter there, it doesn’t seem like much but one of those things can do a lot more damage then a lot of people realize.

LoJo you need to get your buddy Flair to come trap that otter. I think a collaboration on trapping it would be great video.
Those tacos looked fire! Also...I had been wondering about the health of the pond ever since some kids polluted it with yachts and leaking big block motors. Glad to see you are giving the fish a chance to come back and be healthy!
We all need a neighbor Darrel. Like Darrel says, you otter trap that otter. Love the videos. More backyard pond videos, please. God bless.
I’m sure there’s a few 5lbers lurking. Them bigger fish are smart, they get that size for a reason. I’m sure they were too deep or in good cover, also probably heard and saw the boat and went the other way

Gotta respect a man who keeps a fridge outside on his porch. My dad has his beer and nightcrawler fridge out in his shop. The freezer doesn't really work but the fridge part works just fine.
A bigger fish or down deeper will be more resistant to the charge, so a big fish down deep will have even less reaction to the charge. I'd say you've got a few more bigger fish down under the deep structure. Stocking more bait is a definite "go". If you have a thermal scope for your AR, wait up a few nights for that otter.
Thanks guys so much for tbis video. I love to see you and derral cook and eat thanks everybody. Those tacos looked great
I'm impressed that you are so wanting and willing to do so much for such a small " private" pond. Speaks volumes as to your character!

Sooo much fun
Definitely want to see more pond videos. After all the forage you put in there I can't believe 1 gill and no big bass! I figured at least one 4 and a couple of 3's. ...and REALLY surprised at how skinny the big catfish was. That explained a lot to me about the pond I fish in. Pretty much the same condition only 6.5 acres. Two years ago I could catch 30 crappie and bluegill in a day, with 3 or 4 1/2 - 3/4 lb. bass thrown in the mix. Now a good day is 6 fish. a couple gill, a couple crappie, and maybe a bass or two. Same size as before.. 1/2 - 3/4 lb. I watch all of Bama Basses 5 acre pond videos. He's really doing it right!!! If you haven't seen his series, please watch it from beginning to end! It'll help, I promise. Blessings LOJO and thanks for sharing.

bamas pond is way too shallow though, that thing gonna be full of plants within 2 years, give it another couple of years and it will get more shallow to the point where fish kills happen during summer/winter.. like 3/4 of his pond is less then 3 foot deep. it shouldve been 3/4 of the pond over 6 foot deep. I get it wouldve cost a lot more but in the end he will prob have to make the investment.. and total cost will be much more then if he had just done it right the first time.
@chipseiler1766

@@larsvegas1505 I thought the same thing while he was building it. He's gonna have to rely way to much on chemical treatments which may cost him if he wants to eat any fish from it, although he seems to just want to grow trophy sized bass.

when ponds fall off like that whats the fix? more bait fish orrr i had a pond a couple years ago could rip em all day long now ive gotten skunked the last couple times. there was also an otter in there 2 years ago but it didn’t change really until this year.
@chipseiler1766

@@nate.hanlon otter will do it in a small pond for sure. We also a a Great Blue Heron. Last week I caught a 1 lb. bass. (I've only caught three or four 1 lb. bass in the past three years. Fish over 1 lb. are rare!) Two days latter, the Blue Heron ate it! At least he was trying. He stabbed it and was trying to eat it. The pond used to have a lot of wildlife (birds / ducks / geese). The birds no longer have enough food to hang around and no longer live there. The key in my pond would be two fountains for aeration, and stocking threadfin shad. Another interesting note is that last summer there was a massive fish kill. Lack of oxygen in late July. There are three main sections of the pond that are fishable where the bluegill spawn. This year, there were NO bluegill spawning in the section furthest away from the deep water. There were some spawning in the other two areas, but not nearly as many as usual. Then... heres the really interesting part. I've caught a few Red Ear sunfish (Shell Crackers) over the past three years. That same bed has been taken over by a hundred or more Red Ears! I also found another not so easily fished hole with 50 plus Red Ear beds. I've caught more Red Ears this year in one trip, and I've done this at least 5 times, than in the past three years combined.

@@chipseiler1766 i think my pond i used to fish is screwed it’d cost a lot. for some reason this years there’s A LOT of grass so i’d have to get that under control and everything so im bout to just say forget it and plus if i stock it it’d be 5 years before it’d be worth fishing lol
Always feels good getting on a video early. Been watching since he was kayak fishing and bank fishing alllll the time way back in the day. First met LoJo at the Spanish Fort Bass Pro filming a video an got a pic snapped with him. Chill dude and super cool!

I think a nice area by the pond to chill with the family would be nice. Maybe do a dock attached to a deck and if your feeling ambitious you could even toss in a little gazebo or hut
Darryl... what a legend neighbor!
Loved that creek fishing!! More please
This is one of my favorite videos so far. Something different. You’re killing it bro.
Did that about 25 years ago. The most unexpected problem when getting the equipment together was finding a non-conducting net. Just in case someone was overly excited by a fish popping up while the electricity was still on.
Love the pond getting cleaned up and back to growing it too be successful😊.
At 9:54 and a few seconds prior you can see a fish that you missed, slowly sinking into to abyss😂
Let's go. Absolutely love Darrells cooking. Looks so freaking gooood.
You need to do a series on different types of traps and snares and taxidermy
I was out of Barnegat inlet in NJ on my friend's boat back in the 1980's he had an old 23' Thunderbird (the exact boat used in the old TV show "Flipper") there were was about 4 water spouts (looks like a skinny tornado) that you could see a few miles away. The antenna on the radio started singing, we couldn't figure out what the buzzing was at first, we thought it was static on the radio, then when we shut the radio off the buzzing didn't stop. My friend unplugged the antenna from the radio, but the buzzing got louder, and we figured out that the noise was coming from the antenna. I lifted my arm up and the hair on my arm was standing up. We headed back towards the inlet, the weather cleared up later that day, forgot to mention we were catching a bunch of stripped bass as the buzzing was happening, and we didn't really want to sto fishing. I'll never forget that day.....FishOn. .....jimi
You should do like a mini bama bass setup. Bluegills with a feeder.
I’m glad you’re hooking the pond up!
Happy for you getting the pond back and healthy. Can’t wait to see the results, awesome video as always.

Hi, I am a new KZreadr and lojo I can say I love your vids you where the one that inspired me to go fishing 1 year ago and I have never quit since 🙏
So I've been watching lojo for a while now and I think the one thing your pond needs Is a good spot for the bait fish to grow spawn and live . Like a low water area or some more tiny fish homes IDK just my thoughts

Maybe this isn't what people are talking about: but I love the glimpse into how everything you guys are chowing down on in these videos is 100% sourced on your property, and the flavours sound amazing. I wish I could taste Darryl's food. All those flavours just look great. I'm surprised the pond was not better stocked. It may be that the existing bass have just eaten their way through everything smaller and reduced the overall bait population. Right now they could be surviving off tadpoles, froglets and even insect larvae and stuff. I can't imagine that will pay off in the long run. That otter has to be relocated. Godspeed in rejuvenating the pond and please keep posting! Love seeing how it's all going! :D
Lojo. I shock our Lake every other year 3 weeks after the Spawn. Come out next year and make a vid here. You'll be AMAZED at the Bass they pull out. Be an Awesome VID for your SUBS to watch.. Loved this video by the way...
I was stunned that all your bream are gone...we had a an otter family smoke our brook trout lake..they finally left because they ate all the trout! We can finally restock..
Always cool to see you guys.
Love the videos your probably my favorite KZreadr your the reason I love bass fishing
To get trophy bass you have to continue to stock and remove the little ones
Very glad to have you back brother
Should've put a couple of the little bass in the small pond
I had a dream the other night that Darrel was cooking for me. Woke up before I got to eat =(
Can't wait to see some more hunting videos. Keep up the good work
Need to add more structures. Add some large rocks if you can. Old Christmas trees. Lillypads would be awesome in one corner.
You need to put a fountain or aerator to get the pond more lively.
idk bout bass specifically but trout for instance get up to 60% of their proteins from terrestrial proteins sources, not bait fish, but bugs and small mammals even. For this reason, as well as a hand full of other good ones ( geese and erosion management) ppl are recommending leaving like a 5 foot veg buffer preferably of native plants. Less vegetation buffer=less fish food= smaller stressed fish
Love the vids. Those bass look like shot and all your bluegill just leave through the creek. Hopefully you can get this all sorted out and grow some 10s in the future
I'm with you Lojo I truly believe there has to be at least one or two 6 + Lb Bass.
Yes always wanted to see a vid like this on ur pond
Probably the cleanest looking catfish I’ve ever seeen lol

Bro the pond is healthy! Some more bait for the big bass would be cool for sure but it doesn’t get fished like it used to…

I wouldn’t call it healthy at all. It’s overpopulated with bass in such a small pond. When that happens the fish will all stay small like the ones they caught.

@@mwatkins2464 I see your point. I’m from upstate NY and the bass we catch are “sub par” to say the least…so the fish these guys catch in the pond look massive to me.

@@SacandagaDangling man you should come fishing way down here in the south. They usually get pretty good size as long as the lakes are in good shape. I have caught a 3 lb crappie in a county lake . The bass get really big in some of our bigger lakes like lake eufaula Alabama.
You could try one of those automated fish pellet feeders to get those fish fed
Every time you go to the pond, walk out two to three feet and dig out a bucket full of mud. Then take the bucket up the hill and dump it. Think of how much you can increase the pond in a year, just one bucket at a time......

Can't believe you haven't poured a cement boat ramp, with a nice floating dock to put boats in and out of the pond. I'm also surprised that you haven't installed a fish feeder In the pond to supplement food for the fish to keep them healthy. Also.....wondering if you have any lily pads or grass in the pond to get the bait fish cover.

@LOJO you have a fishing KZread channel, your pond should have big bass in it and grass trimmed well around the pond. Jiggin’s pond is NICE! With huge bass in it.

I want to say thank you personally. I tried the Marshmallow and kool aide hot dog idea at Lake Erie Sandusky Bay near Sandusky, Ohio. Caught four huge catfish none under five pounds and not over ten.
