Electric Vehicle and High-Voltage System Safety in Collision Repair

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

All Electric Vehicles feature complex electrical systems that contain high voltage components, such as lithium-ion batteries and other potentially lethal components and cables. It is critical that collision repair center staff understand the safety implications of working with and around high voltage systems. Collision repair businesses should have a documented procedure plan for intake, and work on, high-voltage vehicles. It is the duty of all persons involved in controlling, operating, testing, working on or in the vicinity of electric vehicles or high-voltage components, to implement safety rules and comply with them.
In this video we will review some safety considerations on vehicles that contain high-voltage systems, and explore documentation from manufacturers such as Audi, Jaguar Land Rover, Tesla, Volkswagen and others.

so here is my question. For anyone to work on high voltage whether in a home, factory, farm has to be a licensed electrician. That applies to any voltage above 24Volts. So why is this not applicable to an EV vehicle? What does the NEC National Electrical Code have to say.

This is why many manufacturers may require the vehicle to be energized by a certified high-voltage technician. Safety is an important consideration with high voltage vehicles.
