Electric Hair Clippers - In Slow Motion

Ойын-сауық

Hair clippers were invented by Leo J. Wahl a long time ago it's a tried and trued design, but every time I use hair clippers I end up getting cut or nicked by the clippers.
I Show how hair clippers work in slow motion, just something I've been curious about for a while.
so I decided to not only use traditional style hair clippers which almost always cut me but a different style but I have heard is much better the newer design uses the same principle it's just slightly modified and it seems to be much more pleasant to use.

    Kind of an odd request... how many times can you click a pen very fast before the mechanism heats up and melts?

  • @johnd9357

    @johnd9357

    3 жыл бұрын

    Springs would fail before it ever got hot enough to even notice. The stroke of the action is just too deep, and the click itself takes too long to ever build heat. Even using a machine to click it far faster than a human could, wouldn’t do it. The springs would fail first every time.

    The Manscape clippers had a much narrower cutting span and the static blades teeth are much closer together than the WAHL ones, allowing for smoother travel over the skin. I think the cutting blade of the Manscape is moving at a higher speed than the others, too, reducing the chances of skin grab. WAHL are fine for a hair cut, but for a beard trim, or something a little more 'personal', I'd definitely have the Manscapes. I managed to cut my neck several times while trimming my beard, using my aging WAHL clippers a couple of days ago. You've inspired me to get something a little more fit for purpose 😉👍🏻. Great vid.

    Yeah the bite is mostly from the blade gap. Manscaped has a wide blade gap for sensitive areas. Old school Wahls are adjustable but are generally calibrated for getting as close of a shave as possible, operated by someone other than the person getting their hair cut (better angle), and on the scalp.

    @@solosailor222 Even if so, stacking the focus like that really kills resolution. If you stack 8 shots, you get 1/8 resolution and need more light. It's because the individual pixels are still in the same plane, each with their own lens, in some distributed pattern. Each individual output image then misses 7/8 of the image projected on the sensor. I'd be really surprised if this is developed into anything more than casual slow mo, 200fps or so, since the image fidelity is compromised so much.

    Great question! I've been really messed up for the last couple of months with this whole pandemic and all sorts of craziness around me. I meant to touch the point of oscillations per minute as well as the tooth design on the old school Clippers versus those manscape Clippers because I thought those rounded points were very interesting... However my mind has been really messed up the last couple of months and I forgot to hit those two points. But I do think they were more than that because for one they are DC, and two they were way too fast for my high-speed camera, that's the first time I've ever seen rolling shutter on that camera ever.

    You know....i like man scaped clippers because the blades arechangeable. But one thing makes me question the "clipper bite." I mean have you ever tried to...i don't know.... ADJUST THE FECKING BLADE taper?! I've been using regular clips on my junk for 16 years. You keep the blade adjusted to max taper, the fixed blade acts as a guide for the hairs while also keeping your skin away from the moving bit. EDIT: i did also file down the tips, only slightly, if i do it too much it would make it dull.

    ive done the same in the past but the teeth are still very sharp and if you look closely the shape of the teeth are different both on the rake and the blade, I mention this in the video but i should have explained better and went more into detail

    You need a tilt shift lens

    Tilt shift lenses are cool, and it may have solved part of my focus problem here since no matter at what angle I would position the camera in relation to the Clippers there would be some part of the teeth or the clipper blade angled away from the camera... However I'm not sure that they have tilt shift in this type of macro configuration, this particular macro lens I'm using here is a 7X magnification factor.. it's ridiculous, for these shots I think I was at about one or maybe 1.5 magnification factor. But yeah tilt shifts are really cool
