I disagree. This video is to help you figure out which of the 3 is right for you - the pros and cons - *not* am xtreme compilation of insects being fried set to Slayer. You should know that if you bothered to read the title. Being somewhat dissatisfied with the Zap It, because of the safety precautions, I'm glad I watched this video and might get another.

I have a Zap-it...it definitely does not kill larger bugs, like flies...you definitely have to zap it several times before they are dead, so kind of morbid lol! It IS fantastic for fruit flies!! Being summer we tend to have some fruit flies around and its hugely satisfying to go after those little annoyances!

The light on the bug zapper isnt for mosquito hunting 😂 bugs like flies and mosquitos are attracted to light and will go towards the light when you turns it on. Thats why you see bugs near lamps and ceiling lights. Easiest way to kill bugs is dim the lights and turn the light on the bug zapper. Watch them fly around the light for easy zapping!

Ive just shook the hedge and swung the executioner around killing a dozen or so in seconds. Ive been doing that a few times a day and have noticed a significant decrease in the amount of flys and mosquitos around my garden.

Is there any model that has contacts closer together. I have had a zapper for 3 years, all the bigger bugs are dead, now I am stuck with smaller gnats that when I wave it around they are too small to hit two wires at once and zap them. Need a model with a smaller grate.

I have a question out of these three which has a on and off switch? I had purchased a similar one years ago but you had to actually hold the button in on side as you used it. So I'm looking for one with a on and off switch. Do any of these have the feature where you actually have to hold button in for it to work. Makes my thumb sore holding it in entire time your using it?

I have one of the old parallel bar-style units and I was amazed when I first tried it. A few swipes and a big pop and light when a mosquito was zapped. I swiped in a swarm of mosquitoes and was zapping the whole cloud in less than a minute. Mine's from a decade or two ago and I'm trying to find another one like it. This video is good, as I've wondered how well the multi-screen style ones to work. 6:44 sealed it for me about bugs getting stuck in it, I'm sticking with the older parallel-bar style like mine.

You should also try the Black Flag Bug Zapper swatter It is like the Zap It but without rechargability - also the plastic supporting the grates in the middle is grid shape rather than the branding shape the zap it has One thing you didnt mention on your initial description of these devices was how fine the grating is. The zap it has the smallest holes so it will catch more bugs - you said you dislike the mesh but it is much better and it also has a grating. I am trying to swat tiny gnats right now and even this finite zap it is not doing enough - The bars miss almost everything on the others as well.

So the bug HAS to be touching the inner layer and one of the outer layers to get zapped? Or can you just cut both outer layer screens off with snips or something and have the inner layer do all the zapping easier without worrying about the other layers. Unless like I asked if they are necessary.

Bigger is better for fly swatters. Small swatters make it hard to connect to a fly. The voltage also varies from 2700 v, 3600v to even more. Usually the higher voltage is more potent... and more expensive. The batteries also make a difference. They come with A, C or D cells depending on the brand. Usually the bigger the battery the bigger the zap. Also small batteries go flat faster. Even the rechargeable batteries vary from 400 mah to 2000 mah and may be removable (a nice feature). The plastic varies from cheap to higher impact ABS. Worth mentioning stuff like that?

I've had an Executioner for 6 years. It has been with us for 6 scout camp weeks and about 20 weekend camping trips. Works great. The bars are far better than a model with a screen in front of the electrical grid. I had one with a screen and it blocked some bigger bugs. The light sounds like a useless gimmick. We never needed one even camping at night. It's easy to carry a couple extra AA batteries than it is to recharge one when camping. And I never had the batteries die when camping anyway. I think I used 2 sets of duracells in 6 years.

I like the Zap It, I haven't tried either of the others but I have not really found the problems you claim to have had and as far as cleaning it, a couple of light whacks against the side loosened anything that ever got stuck and honestly that happened only ONCE in several hundred kills/stuns. (Also to that point about the stun, the fact that I can at least do that and get it immobile for a couple seconds is almost as good because you just squash and lights out, it sure is better than trying and swat it with a regular swatter, newspaper, towel, etc etc. Most importantly for the safety screen, I believe it was put there as a safety measure for kids in the house and the fact (you didn't explain) that you have to turn it on with a switch then hold down a button to activate the electrical field.

I have the Elucto at home. Every so often a mosquito comes into my room, and once I find it, it takes one shot to kill it. Easy kill. BUT when it comes to regular house flies. I suppose depending on the size of them, most of them are a three or more swat kill. Hit it once and it staggers and flies off somewhere for a little again. Not great, but it works for me :)

I own the Executioner. Three of them. They work! As for batteries, a pair of alkaline double A's will last a season. No need to futz with chargers and cables IMO. By the way, for the uninitiated, these work well on mosquitoes, deerflies and wasps. Houseflies are too fast for them and you will end up breaking the device if you attempt to sat them. A fly swatter is actually cheaper and better for these pests.

The problem with all of the different fly swatters from China that I know of is that they're penny articles and usually last on average for only 2 weeks until they're broken.

well if you use it carefully and generally if its used single handed then they usually tend to stay longer. And given how cheap they are, it is worth it even if they work for atleast 10-12 months
