Thank you so much man. I was having the exact same problem with the fans on high all the time so i took that fuse out that you mentioned and NOW they both run on Low wich is plenty of air.
As always, good information Austin!
It's actually quite simple. The 2 wires that go to the PCM are switched grounds. All you have to do is ground those 2 wires and BOOM fans come on (green for low speed, both for high speed). This will allow you to drive the truck to the tuning shop.

Thanks for the wire color. About halfway through I was thinking what an amateur LOL. This isn't rocket science or as hard as he's making it out to be. If you can find these fans at a pick apart yard and cobble together a fan harness with a block temp fan switch you can do this all day for less than $200
@TEAMWRIGHTEOUS

I'd think driving down the road, you don't even need the fans. So long as you're not sitting at a bunch of red lights. I'm looking to upgrade mine, but I'll do it this way with a temp switch vs flashing the ecu. If I'm gonna flash the ecu I'll be swapping the 4.8 for a 5.3 and doing a cam while I'm at it.
I love your videos, they’re always the best

Thanks man
I retro'd to 99, just migged brackets on and used a gooseneck with 2 sensors one high one low
That's my next project on my 2003 Silverado. Already use hp tuner so controlling the fans will be no problem.

@Dr. Westside - - I made an SUPER EASY Wiring Video Conversion on my Channel - Check it out.... I love it after the Conversion!
Great video, but you don’t have to have your truck towed to a tuning shop. It won’t overheat unless you half to sit idling for a long time, in which case you can put the old fan back on temporarily (yes it fits) and take it off once you’ve tuned it.
Just a thought..... why not run wires from the fuse that your not using to inside under the dash with a toggle switch and an inline fuse so you can turn on the other fan on high speed manually when needed , like when its hot and towing.... just something I did on mine just to have that extra option..... great 👍 video I'm subscribing right now..... thanks 😊
Might want to add that anything earlier than an 03 will not support electric fans properly if you are keeping air conditioning. Did mine and ac will not cycle the ac compressor. This causes compressor to run continuously. Which will cause the system to freeze up. Also disabled the pressure switch shutdown. I used a separate fan controller from dakota digital. And if you want at Vss shut down at speed integrate a lingenfelter vss speed switch. Just a valuable fyi for the pre 03 trucks and suv's.
Did you have to change the evaporator at any point or did it meet up to the larger radiator without any issue
Dude I find it hilarious I have the same ppg shirt drive the same style truck and my name is also Austin lmao 😂
Ohh yeaa thanks for this video!!!
i have a 03 tahoe and want to do this upgrade, would i have to get my PCM program to turn the fans on?
Are ur fans on as soon as u start up a cold start?did the swap on my 01 and both come on low when it starts up then high only when the ac is turned on
what do you have mounted on the side of your fuse box there cuz my truck is the exact same and I'm trying to get what you got done to yours?
where do i get the wiring kit for the conversion like you show on your video
question: why couldn't you have the shop activate the fan circuit before installing the fans?
Did you have to upgrade your alternator to the 145-160 amp when there on high speed
good work
Some models DO* come with HD cooling systems so not everyone will necessarily have to buy a new radiator* Check your build sheet and other way to tell is by bolt location
Just curious how is your oil pressure at idle and while driving when warmed up? Ever change the oil pump or pick up tube / of ring? Thanks Im also in the over 300k club
This is exactly the info I need, your link to the harness needs updated though! Please update!
Good information Thanks
I know it's a old topic but is there another way to get these fans to work on my 2000 suburban i was planning on using a grounded fan switch into the heater inlet hose side on I got factory fans,factory style wiring to install i am on a tight budget and for just a single tune for the fans only is $150.00 when I can plumb in a sensor for about $20.00 what's you're take on that
Where did you get the stuff for the e fan swap?
hello everyone, i have a question. can i install or would they fit a radiator, condenser and efans of an 08 chevy silverado hd on a 04 chevy tahoe 5.3?? thank you all in advance
i wanna just run this to a switch for Manuel operation whats the easiest way to do that?
What thermostat temp i use for 05 electric fans conversion in mt 2000 silverado
Why did you get a radiator with out engine oil cooler?
Can you pls recopy the link for the harness it isnt coming up
Can't find the harness with the link provided..can you help?
what brand of eclectic fan did u buy?
Will the tech 2 turn fans on?
Solution for getting to tuner.. Direct wire the fan temporarily.
I'm trying to do this and the radiator i got was out of an 08 and the trans coolest lines did not fit, they were differnt sizes
So If I have electric fans. Would it be beneficial to get aftermarket fans and bigger radiator or just keep the ones I already have? Asking for a friend.. lol
Will work on a v6 4.3? thanks for help
They fried your computer and you still think they know what they are doing. Money is a one way street when it comes to most "businesses" in the USA.
Where did you order your electric fan?
Is this mod better for Towing?
Did u change ur alternator
Can you relink the harness the link is lost on ebay.
What was the link for the harness via ebay?
The link for the harness doesn't work
I'm doing my conversion right now, Cost wise I'm at $180. No need to replace my radiator, 00 and 05 Silverado use the same radiator. 05 is E Fan. I track my gas and mileage since it's a work truck so I can't wait to see if there is an improvement in MPG.
@ShepardJ23

any improvement?
Hey, I liked your vid. This mod seems a bit scary but doable. What I would like to know is will I need a tranny radiator upgrade with this mod?
Hey guy, I'd love to do this mod to my 2003 suburban but 2 of your links are dead.
What’s up with that tire review how are they in the rain?
love this video i plan on doing this to my 04 sierra, i got the truck with 260k miles and runs great but i ran into the overheating at idle issue, so i replaced the broken and freely rotating fan clutch with a new one and boy was it tight! i hate it! it robed me of so much power! i want to buy a camaro LS1 or similar electric cooling fan, but i dont like the whole harness idea, do you think i could just connect one wire to the battery or fuse so that it turns off when the truck is off and run it that way or will that not cool enough... i am fine with it being laud if it runs at max all the time, i just want my power back :(
Y’all. ?? Before you do the efan conversion, spend a little bit more $$$ on a big 3 kit install, that would help a lot for the extra amp load your fans are sucking out of your alternator and battery if your running a stock alternator. Huge upgrade too overall good for your electrical system. Maybe this guy had done a video for that.
Since this fan system won't work on a 2002 Silverado 5.3 any suggestions on which fan, radiator and harness that would.

Hey guys, I need some truck advice! I'm interested in 1/2 tons. Recently I've been looking at 2014 chevy silverado because they're usually in my budget. I've been seeing them go for roughly around 25k but 100,000+ miles on it. Would that be worth it? What should I look for?
Your links don't work
Hi Im planning to install this kit on Escalade 2002 Do I need to upgrade the stock alternator and wiring ?
@soychingon3324

No
GM switched to electric fans in 2006, so 2005 and older had mechanical fans, and you likely will need to program the ecm to recognize electric fans to get them to work.
@jdgatliff
2 жыл бұрын
Switched in 05 Silverados. Maybe not all of them but an 05 Z71 has E Fans.
Will the newer e fans from 2005 & up silverados fit 99-04

Find an electric fan setup on tahoe,suburban,Cadillac at a junkyard pull the factory wiring harness, fan fuse box located underneath the main fuse box, radiator, e-fan and install. the two signal wires from the pcm install just as removed and get the fans turned on with hp tuner. Costed me $50 at a local junkyard for parts and $100 dollars for a tune

Most trucks with a clutch fan came with the 28" radiator. Some came with the 34" radiator. The Silverado/Sierra/Tahoe/Yukon fans will not physically fit with the smaller radiator. You could find some other fans and make brackets and maybe do some trimming to make them fit, or you can change the radiator. You can get a new 34" radiator for about $120. Make sure to check if you have an oil cooler or not, if you decide to change the radiator (most trucks don't).
I purchased a COMPLETE flex-a-lite kit on eBay for $300.00 Easy install on my 2500 Silverado No need for a tune Works perfectly

Wut up bro, Hey, i was just watching your vidio about electric fan hook up on your 05' Silverado and was hoping to do the same on my truck. I have a 2002 Sierra 2500HD with the 6.0, it has a clutch fan. Help me out bro, Who should i order from, any brand of fan better then others? I believe my radiator in the large size 30 plus inch so i dont need to replace that according to your vidio so thats good. So if you can recommend a good set up & harness and whatever else i need i would appreciate it , Thanks bro.

john Vallejo if you would just watch the video and listen to where he got it you wouldn’t have to type up an essay like you were all fucked up on Xanax

on a stock truck.. using stock OEM fans.. you DO NOT NEED a different radiator.. that truck should have come with a 34 inch radiator.

I think it's better especially when you're doing it for actual mechanical cooling and not just space to leave the clutch fan install the electric fans and have a switch inside the cab that you can turn on on hot days or when you're towing to get extra cooling especially when you're idling with the AC on in traffic towing something. You turn on your fans high or low and then switch them off or you can put a temperature switch up on the engine cooling system that way if your radiator fluid is warm the fans will come on if it is not they will shut down there are many ways to do it without having the vehicle tuned in messing with the factory wiring.
Alternater amp
You dont need a shop, use a tech 2 fucking easy, sounds like you pay shops to build your truck boy.
Video explains nothing. Just yapping yap yap.
Or just get a flex-a-lite kit and you dont need a radiator and you dont have to tune it. It's easier and that's what I did. Here is the link to the fan kit. 28" rad www.amazon.com/Flex-lite-292-00-04-Chevy/dp/B000CNHFV2 34" rad: www.amazon.com/Flex-lite-282-00-04-Chevy/dp/B000CNJAZG
