You and me both. The idea of the MK leading in KZN just doesn't seem to corollate with what I see everyday on the ground. All the "new parties" are just there to fragment the black vote. They really are of no substance.
Local and national elections are two huge separate elections. When are you analysts going to learn? In the last 2019 elections, the ANC got 57 %, that's over 11 million votes. There is no way the ANC will jump from 11 million to below 9 million; that's a pipe dream. In local elections, many voters, mainly ANC voters, didn't turn up, and they didn't vote for any of these small parties.
@SJokes
23 күн бұрын
Thing is this 40-45% figure is not coming from an estimate based on the last local elections. Its coming from polls. If you look at the polls for the last elections from Jan-May 2019, the average of the polling is 56% for the ANC - this is 1% off of the actual election result. Doing the same for this years polling, the average is 40.2% for the ANC.

DA support hasn't dropped since the Ad , so it isn't the disaster that many predicted. In fact , DA support is inching upwards. I haven't seen a poll showing the DA at less than 50% in the WC. If they do fall below 50% , they still have FF+ and ACDP to support them . They have proven to be reliable and stable partners in the past.

The ANC is going to win. The first 10 years of democracy saw the highest GDP 5.8 % more employment. The 2008 international financial crash affected all countries to 2012. We lost 1 million jobs , which we had know control over. Yes, we had the so call 9 wasted years, but remember we had opposition parties that participated in formulating policies too.

So what happened to Eskom, SAA, SABC, PRASA, SAPO, healthcare, education, policing, military? Financial crash or just incompetence in governance? What happened to SOES taking on THOUSANDS of youth for apprenticeships where they left qualified? This alone would hammer youth unemployment levels? Reality is the ANC is unable to implement sound economic policies, and create an environment where the economy can grow. Yes they have kept BMW and Mercedes dealers very busy, but this doesn't address key issues that ultimately will decide SA's future Of course the first 10 years of democracy saw economic growth, the country had just been open to international trade and markets, we went from a regime to a democracy, investors were piling in. NOW? Not so many keen investors

42.3m South Africans are eligible to vote, 27.6m are actually registered to vote. It remains unknown how many will turn out to vote…maybe 70%? That’s nearly 20m people voting. As opinions go everyone has one including the 35% who didn’t bother to register and the 30% who are registered but didn’t bother voting. The opinion that really carries the day is the opinion of those who will join the queue and vote.
The ANC has a large campaign machine. I think your analysis is spot on Mr Mpofu-Walsh. It has a multitude of traditional voters. But yes, if it gets more than 45% nationally I will be surprised. Provincially it's in trouble. Overall it's a movement that is stagnating - it needs new blood.

The ANC is going to win between 235 and 250 seats based on the new electoral system. This is something many political analysts are not paying attention to. Come 1st of June, the ANC will still be in government with Cyril Ramaphosa still president of South Africa. He will serve as president until the next ANC National Conference in 2027.The new ANC president will take over sometime in 2028 to ensure a smooth and seamless transition.
I believe the DA are working overtime to secure a governing coalition with the ANC. However, I think the DA realises that Steenhuisen is not the leader to take them into any post-electoral negotiations, they will get rid of him should they be in a position to negotiate with the ANC.

Despite his many flaws, Cyril is ahead of all his counterparts in the charisma department. This is the most important deciding factor in any election, possibly worldwide too in other countries. I still think they won’t get to 50 but let’s see.
Frans Cronje correctly predicted that ANC support would pick up closer to election time. They're currently polling around 45% which could give us an interesting possible scenario. At that level Nationally , they could use the IFP as a coalition partner , possibly with a top up of a 1 or 2 seat party. That would mean that they would have to form a coalition with them in KZN but they would still need another coalition partner. The EFF would likely be too small so that leaves either the DA or the MK. I'm inclined to think that they would choose the DA but that may be my bias coming through . I'm trying to be neutral here but it doesn't always work. So , if they then form a coalition in KZN with the IFP and DA , that may mean they would then be required to form a coalition with the DA in Gauteng , rather than the EFF and maybe some smaller parties. That then leads to the question as to how the current ANC/EFF partnerships will be affected in Gauteng metros. Whatever happens , we're in for a political shake up , but I don't think it will be earthquake levels which is probably good. Radical changes generally make things much worse quickly and it takes a long time before things get better.

It's worth noting that these polling results are likely artificially inflating specifically the DA's support, and to a lesser extent, the ANC too. Due to the unequal stratification of SA, the polls are more accessible to the Middle class and onward, which is a relatively small part of the population. ActionSA will shock the country.
The one child policy in China, also known as the "One Child Rule," was a population control policy implemented from 1979 to 2016. While it was not specifically designed to eliminate poverty, it was intended to reduce population growth and alleviate related social and economic issues, including poverty. 1. Reduced population growth: By limiting family size, the policy contributed to a slower population growth rate, which in turn reduced the number of people living in poverty. 2. Increased investments in education and healthcare: With fewer children to support, families and the government could invest more in education and healthcare, leading to improved human capital and reduced poverty. 3. Increased economic growth: By reducing the burden of a large population, the policy may have contributed to China's rapid economic growth, which lifted millions out of poverty.

If they do , then unfortunately the citizens will get what they deserve . Corruption , Incompetence , lack of delivery and failing institutions . These are not emotive statements but facts . Only option in life is to change your attitude , and if not , change your circumstance . Unfortunately like most of my friends, will close our businesses , many more will become unemployed and we leave for a more organised and safer country , realising full well that this is the best place in the world to live , IF we had a competent government which put the people and country first vs party and self enrichment . (this applies to all parties ).
I don’t think the ANC will lose power. I’m not a fan of the ANc but you gotta be realistic. What I have noticed is that their campaign was ruthless, they are doing by all means to attract people.

ANC will surely fall this elections are not like others ,you will be surprised to see ANC at 20%
the ANC literally has blood on it's hands. Think of all the families that have lost relatives and children due to crime, bad public health care, street lights not working at night, rape, stealing of services meant to uplift the poor, food services, drugs from Nigerians, etc... People don't forget the death of a loved one, especially one caused by the ANC.
MK has a Zuma problem, with the concort ruling.. Those polls might change again
When are you covering the Ipsos poll that you mentioned would come out just before the election?

@SizweMpofuWalsh can't find it, what is the name of the video?
No, you can change voting station online
As ever, your content is superb but, goodness me, if the ANC were to get 50% of the vote - or even close to it - it would, once again, reflect the utter ignorance of the electoral majority in South Africa.

It is not ignorance. The voters do not owe anybody anything.
The popularity contest begins🤭
I don't understand this poll, can anyone explain how it works
I remember one man saying "ANC will rule till Jesus comes back".

How ironic that thanks to him the ANC will drop below 50%. And then I recall another man saying " I will die for Zuma"
It is really difficult for the DA to grow with the introduction of PA, Rise Mzansi and ACTION SA. So a result above 20% for the DA would actually be a victory due to all the competition. The ANC should be worried and will not have anything to celebrate if they come out below 50% as this would be a significant drop in support. I think people are way too critical of the DA, whereas it is the only 'older' and more established party that is set to retain it's previous result or even improve by a percent or two. That is quite an achievement in this highly competitive election!
ANC is coming from behind to defend our economy
NC, NW & FS are the 3 smallest provinces by population & very sparse. It is incredibly difficult to get a proper sample in them that will have a MOE that is actually workable.
A strong perfomance by MK will determine where ANC finally lands
ANC is done
The last kick of a dying horse/cow is stronger. The EFF and MK must work hard during the last days towards the elections.
Doc is possible that the MK party can send the former chief justice mogoeng to represent them in parliament if so i believe this can actually put mk to the 2rd majority, just my opinion.
Le coalition government without the ANC izakwenzeka njani? 66-67 parties will form a coalition government, how possible is that?
With voters feeling disgruntled in ANC strongholds like Eastern Cape and North West, if they stay away and Ramaphosa being shunned in the Free State (Qwaqwa, I think) I am now more comfortable in my projection that the ANC will be between 45% and 48%.
THEY WILL NEVER RULE UNTIL JESUS COMES. GIANTS ARE FALLING.
The ANC still strong under the leadership of Ramaphosa will gain above 50% easy. Thanks Cyril for rooting out corruption within our organization.
I have never agreed to a polling for the ANC falling below 40%. It was always going to be very difficult to compete with a governing party because they they have state resources at their disposal to manipulate perceptions and thereby influencing the outcome. For example, they could have signed the NHI earlier in the year but chose to do it in the election month. Any opposition party that was going to speak against it were going to automatically disqualify themselves. If they chose not to comment then would be seen as being against it. And if they agreed with the ANC then the question would if the ANC is now pulling down one of the key pillars of apartheid and promising to do more, why should they not be given another chance to continue with the project of equality. The ANC played their cards well. I still think that MKP will achieve up to 10% of the votes in KZN and less than 5% nationally. There are only three major parties in South Africa, the ANC followed by DA followed by EFF. My national election results ptediction is that the ANC will achieve between 45% and 49%. The DA will achieve between 20% and 23%. And the EFF between 11% and 13%. The rest of the other parties will share the less than 20% spoil. As to who gets a bigger share of the 20% will only be known then. I see PA (GP, WC, NC and few votes in EC), ACTIONSA (GP, EC and few votes in LP), and BOSA (GP, NW, WC, NC and few votes in LP, EC) taking a bigger chunk of the leftover votes (less than 20%). I don't think MKP will garner much support outside of KZN not even in Mpumalanga. They will have few votes in other provinces though. Majority of former president Jacob Zuma's supporters are in KZN contrary to the popular believe that he is loved everywhere and the support he had in almost every province as the ANC president is being confused with the support for him as an individual. People have always loved ANC presidents. The Gupta saga which the ANC has capitalized is still fresh in people's minds and is working against the MKP in other provinces outside of KZN.

This Dr can learn a lot from you because you are not biased
35% percent that's
I think the polling is going to be nothing like the results.. ANC mid 30's and hopefully less.
I think the MK party will be the new oposition to the ANC !!!
Dr sizwe have you seen in Durham, lets not rise a false hope for Ramadollar
