This song is just so deeply emotional and beautiful and the one who called it to raw that’s the whole point. This is an amazing song and I can’t see how they don’t love it.

A few days ago I heard in interview with him and Rick Rubin in which he said that he didn't have any vocal education whatsoever (at least in the beginning of SOADs career?) and didn't really know what he was doing. It's ironic, I like noise.
Probably Aerials or Toxicity would have been an easier introduction for them. A couple of the ladies absolutely got it though.
I love how they treat System of a Down like Chop Suey is a brand new song haha. They think this era of music is in the moment but it was over 15 years ago

I think part of the issue is that many of them probably developed their taste in music in…gentler…times-times when you’re singing about love and romance with maybe some Beach Boys surfing songs and the songs involving dark subjects (like “Last Kiss”, “Billy, Don’t Be a Hero”, and “In the Ghetto”) dealt with them in very romantic, gentle ways. You could use the Kingston Trio’s “Tom Dooley” as a lullaby to fall asleep to even though it’s about someone who’s going to be executed because he committed murder! So they might not appreciate there are other emotions to express in song. (In a similar vein, I’ve seen many metal fans who can’t seem to handle it when their favorite bands express anything other than rage.)

Melody like beauty depends through which eye you are looking through. I will cry to this song.
“There’s no flow, there’s no beauty in it” News flash, metal isn’t supposed to be beautiful. It’s a wild, aggressive, explosion of emotions with a beautiful message. SOAD is the embodiment of that.

I dont really like metal but system of a down is one of my alltime favorites bands. They seem to have a really good sense of music theory
I love how during the most basic drum beat that one lady was calling it "just noise" lol
"the messages behind the songs express discontent (ie anger) about these issues." "well they don't need to be so angry about it, now do they?" ...yeah I think they kinda do need to be angry about something they're angry about there buddy...
4:39 "During my time there was no music like this" - You can hear the guys from Slayer laughing in their room
My favorite thing about system of a down is that they put a message in their songs that gets truer everyday
