Elder Scrolls Online is Fixing My Biggest Problem With It

Ойындар

With the release of the new The Gold Road chapter in June, Elder Scrolls Online is fixing the problem I've had with it since it released 10 years ago in 2014. Watch on to find out what my issue is and how The Gold Road will be fixing it.

To be fair it is ESO, it is one of the least MMO-like MMO's on the market - which is the reason why most MMO players don't really care for it (that, and the obnoxiously predatory cash shop and loot boxes).

My main issue with the game is that I always feel as if I were missing out, because of how they monetize the game. While it is buy to play like guildwars , plus buying the "chapters" : Summerset, Elsweyr, Greymoor, Blackwood, High Isle, Necrom, Gold Road now. But wait there is more ! (8) Zone DLCs costing around 2000-3000 Crowns each and Dungeon DLC (11) costing 1500 Crowns each. BUT WAIT THERE IS EVEN MORE! You have limited bag space, but need to hold herbs , ores or other goods? ESO+ will provide you that and all the DLC except for the 2 most recent chapters... BUT WAIT THERE IS SOME HOW EVEN MORE ! Loot crates ! Wish it did not nickle and dime me for everything.

If you just subscribe then you only ever have to buy the most recent chapter, have practically infinite bag space and get a monthly allotment of more Crowns than I know what to do with. @@MxReeseyeah I had a subscription for a long time. You only needed to buy the main yearly expansion if you wanted it straight away and you got the smaller ones "free". I'm not sure what people expect from a free to play game. They have to pay for it somehow. They dropped mandatory subscriptions early because people didn't like it So instead they had to go paid expansion or a choice to subscribe. At the time it honestly didn't feel egregious at all. I got what was basically a decent size new area for £30 a year and I played it enough that having the subscription basically equated to a lot less than all the other games I would have been buying if I wasn't constantly playing the same one. I can totally see that if you were jumping in now it could seem overwhelming, there's a lot of game. It's actually why I dropped off. I wanted to try other stuff and after a few months I felt a bit out of the loop with my guilds and people I played with. I've spent a lot of the time since alternating between new games and filling in the ones I missed while I played ESO for three years. I sometimes miss it, I genuinely loved the game. I just know my personality and would just drown in FOMO. Plus I have a son now and that means I can't just sit down and play for five hours straight.

For me, ESO's major problem is how adventuring on zones won't fell so rewarding... to have good sets of amor and weapons you gotta do the same dungeon over and over.. after 30 minutes on a specific zone I feel like I'm a infinite grind killing hundreds of easy enemies to meet an easy boss and be rewarded with almost nothing. I would love to be more challenged while exploring zones and be rewarded as such. Furthermore, dungeons are usually played with the unique purpose of rushing and getting the items and xp, so it feels less immersive to me.. sometimes, I can't even read the question dialogs since the party is rushing through the dungeon

You nailed it. Just booted up Fallout 3 again after years of not playing Bethesda games and now that I'm older it's easier for me to spot the main gameplay loop: you get a quest, go out to the objective, get side tracked by a landmark, clear the place of enemies, get loot, fast travel to a merchant, sell, and upgrade your equipment. ESO doesn't have that because you just won't be getting any serious loop doing the single player landmarks. There's no great armor or sources of gold you'll just happen to stumble on to. That said, the fact that you can use craft really solid armor that's more than enough to dominate the single player content strikes me as a decent middle ground given that ESO is, at bottom, an MMO

The biggest thing they could do to draw me back in is get rid of the class system entirely, refocus it on Star Signs that give you some bonuses for whatever build you’re going for, but overall let me just level skills like Skyrim, then I might actually play more than 1 hour of this game. As it stands, it’s still not enough of an Elder Scrolls game for me. People can say all they want about Fallout 76 but when I play that, it still feels like Fallout. I don’t have that feeling with ESO. With ESO it has always felt like they’re trying to shove a square peg into a round hole, I mean they’ve done a great job of trying, that square peg is nearly shoved into the hole by now, but it’s still not all the way in quite yet.

The scaling in ESO is all over the place. One moment a small region looks huge, whilst at another a large zone looks relatively small. Plus the way ZSO is cutting up Tamriel is bizarre, with small slivers of the map being left out of new zones.

ESO is my first Elder Scrolls game. The other games seem fun as well but 99% of the time I only game with other people. ESO is a really fun multiplayer experience & with so much to do and explore doing it with a funny group of individuals is the absolute best. peak gaming. I'm still relatively new to the game and so are my friends but so far I have to say its been the most fun i've had in years. I have yet to really have any problems with the game [other than it having its own launcher for some reason]

I came to this game recently as its the closest I can find to guild wars 2 on a console and my cheap ass PC can't run gw2 well enough on my bad Internet to make it really enjoyable. But this has similarities i like, such as the map exploration sky shards instead of hero points and multiple class variations on each class just makes for that extra freedom in your character builds. I think a way to queue for trials would be nice as well for those shy players who will watch what they have to do so they can minimise their vocal interaction.

As an on-and-off ESO player myself, my biggest issues with the game are the visuals and animations. I dislike the art style (at least the character design), the animations look cheap and dated and the abilities don't feel impactful enough, you may ne a powerfull Sorcerer in the game but the abilities look like they tickle the enemies rather than destroy them. When I play ESO I play for the Build Crafing and generally the gameplay part. The story is mostly ok but it hasn't been groundbreakingly good. Star Wars the Old Republic had a better story by far across the board and had choices that gave meaningful flavor. Something ESO has lacked. I wish the game would look like the cinematic trailers and I wish they would hire more and better writers to add an RPG experience akin to Baldurs Gate 3 or old Bioware games. Then ESO would likely be the best game ever. But as it stands it's fun to hop in and out every now and then.

None. Even the solo story content expects you to do multiple forced multiplayer dungeons. They're not optional. The game is designed to force you to play with 2-3 people at all times.
