The best thing I can say for new players is to go for what you want. Something about Elden ring is the number of choices you have in terms of building your character. If you wanna center yourself around casting magic alone, there is a way for it. If you just want to swing a big hammer at people with reckless abandon, go for it, and if you want to be a blood-bending edgey katana boi and win the game easily....well, you'll be like everyone else...but you can do it!

@@requix377 there's plenty you can do bro you just got be smart and tactical the game doesn't hold your hand for you like other games you got be the one to take the step and say I'm gonna beat this boss, you could lose to a boss 50 times but you need to learn there move patterns and adapt to them so you can beat them

@@requix377ignore the guys saying “keep trying every build is usable.” That’s horseshit. My first build SUCKED. I picked vagabond and couldn’t even beat the first boss, I was slow as molasses and stupidly dumped my points into health. I attempted to build a tanky knight and it’s probably the worst way to play this game because bosses can almost always 3 shot you regardless of your health. I restarted with samurai class and am doing much better. The class you pick DOES matter, this is why if you look up end game meta builds they are always one of like 3 options. I recommend samurai. Great end game build potential (duel wielding bleed build) ….and early game you get two amazing weapons, one close and one longe range…AND great dexterity, stamina, PLUS a shield to avoid damage in fights. The only truly effective melee builds involve high damage output and speed/agility to get out of the way of enemy attacks. You can also run magic mage builds but imo it’s niche and while it long term is technically the most powerful possible build, it’s rather lame to stand back and spam spells, and isn’t nearly as well rounded. Best of luck man.

Why y’all buying a game you’re too scared to play?

Chose prisoner, restarted for an hour to beat the first boss, immediately used the stone key I picked to start, spent another 30 minutes getting to the ulcerated tree spirit, spent another 2 hours beating it, fought the first guy who talked to me once I got out, spent 90 minutes fighting the tree sentinel, fought like 20 people and 4 wolves simultaneously for that stupid map fragment, met Melina and turned her down at first because she seemed suspicious, totally missed the first crafting area. Boy did I make my first playthrough unnecessarily hard...

LMAO SAME. I fucked myself for hours and dropped the game. DUDE. I wasnt even using the lock-on mechanic

absolutely great video for new players. I personally go straight for the Morningstar, a golden pickles foot and kill the big dragon on caelid to fast forward some leveling. Start as melee imo, pure str or dex with vigor to learn mob and boss mechanics before burying a caster and watching all your spells be dodged lol

I purchased this game today and stumbled on your video thank youuuu💯🔥🔥🔥. Also re grinding to level up I just went in and out of the rest area without fast traveling and the NPCs respawned instantly. Save a lot of time lol.

It is a good item, yes. However, you will only buy it first if you know where to find it either all the way down in Weeping or all the way up to Liurnia. A brand new player won’t know any of that

I would disagree with heading to the castle right away when there is so much content to the south that is more early game focused. If you’re like me and don’t like to skip areas this is hands down my best advice. You will run into things that are very difficult and you may want to come back but you’ll be much more prepared for everything that’s to come. Take your time with this game, it’s amazing And worth the investment. Don’t ruin the game for yourself by digging too far into videos or the wiki. I personally just used the map to not miss out on locations and to me that was a lot more rewarding that rushing around trying to make a specific build. My ten cents.

I agree! I am the type of player that like no stone left unturned. Did go past the castle so I could get the golden see but then I came back and did as much as I could or left markers for areas I could come back to once leveled up enough.

Wish this was more in depth, was expecting more but thanks for this! You should make a more in depth one also. Btw the church where you received the first spirit is that the place where the merchant is? You kinda just zoomed... thanks!

When starting a new build I always go for the Flail where you meet Melina, get the whetblade knife and Storm Stomp Ash of War there in those ruins, then I head for the Flask of Wonderous Physick in the 3rd Church of Marika, theres the Ash of War Sacred Blade not far from it, and then I use the teleporter to get to the Bestial Sanctum in Caelid, after that I head towards Lenne's Rise site of grace to do the ball farm, you get 2000 runes for dodging a ball. Then I warp back to Bestial Sanctum grace and head for Fort Faroth and get Radagon's Soreseal Talisman so I can wield the flail. Not far from the First Step site of grace, you can go down on the beach and get a Gold Pickled Fowl Foot off a corpse. Head back to Fort Faroth and hopefully you've collected enough Golden Seeds to have 5 or 6 Flasks, allocate them all to blue ones, then use the weapon art on the flail to bleed out Greyoll, the huge sleeping dragon, if you use the Gold Fowl Foot right before you kill it, you get 100k runes, allocate your flasks back to whatever you want, I'd say 4 red, 2 blue, and get Vigor to 30 before leveling any other stats, trust me on this, you'll get a sick weapon in a bit lol. After that I head for the Divine Tower of Caelid and on the left, I climb up until I find the Numen's Rune, pop it and level Strength to 18 and Dexterity to 17, anything else goes towards getting Endurance to 20 and Mind to 16. After that I go back to the 3rd Church of Marika and head for Mistwood Ruins, once I hear howling there I warp back to the church of Elleh or however its spelled, ask the Merchant about the howling and get Finger Snap Gesture, head back to the Mistwood Ruins, use the Finger Snap gesture and talk to Blaid to start his questline, get the Axe Talisman in the Ruins and then I head for the Forlorn Evergaol in southern Limgrave. Summon Blaidd to help you kill the Bloodhound Knight for Bloodhounds Fang, my personal favorite weapon in the game. Talk to Blaidd and he will give you a Somber Smithing Stone. There are enough Somber Stones out in the world to loot in order to get Bloodhounds Fang to +5, you'll have to look up videos on their location tho, too complicated to write down here. You can get Somber 1 and 2 in Limgrave, 3 and 4 in Liurnia by riding around Stormveil Castle, and 5 in Caelid or Siofra River up by the Dragonkin Soldier. Use the Ball Farm at Lenne's Rise to get Bloodhounds Fang to +5 at the Roundtable Hold, then head to Murkwater Catacombs and you get the best bang for your buck summon by beating the Boss, Banished Knight Engvall. After that, go to Siofra River and down there you can get Ghost Glovewort 1 through 5 if you search, 5 is up by the Dragonkin Soldier, 4 might be as well and you'll have to use the teleporter to get up there. 1 through 3 is in the lower section tho, after that use the ball farm to get Engvall to +5 at Roundtable Hold. You need Mind at 16 to use him. You'll have to talk to Roderika at Stormhill Shack well before that but I'm assuming that you are picking up loot and checking out shit as you follow this. I think she leaves for the Roundtable Hold after you defeat Margit, either way there are 4 things you'll want to do before killing Margit, if you kill Margit 1st, you'lllose out on this stuff. Get all of the Ashes of War from Bernhal at the Warmasters Shack, get the Hammer Talisman from the invader north of the Warmasters Shack, talk to Roderika to get the Jellyfish summon, and do the quest for Irina in the Weeping Peninsula so her dad will pop up later, you need his Shabriri Grape for Grape Lady quest. Anyways, this should have you pretty strong for early game, one shot most lesser enemies and bosses will take huge amounts of damage. Bloodhounds Fang is a badass weapon, I used it my entire 1st Playthrough, literally beat the final boss of the game with it. After you get these Stats: Vigor 30, Mind 16, Endurance 20, Strength 18, Dexterity 17, work on getting Vigor to 40, with Radagon's Soreseal Talisman most of these stats will be easy to shoot for. The Somber Stones will ensure you clap cheeks. I usually do all of Limgrave and Weeping Peninsula before killing Margit and heading to Stormveil Castle, but it's your game, play it however you want. I hope this helps anyone struggling with early game. I have made 6 builds/characters and beat new game plus with them all for a total of 12 full playthroughs. There should be videos on most of the locations of items and areas I mention here and feel free to message me if you have any questions. Goodluck tarnished, hope you love this game as much as I do.

I straight up went with neked so the world could mold me into whatever it sees fit to survive. Went from a clubman to a swordman, and now i've dedicated to a wolverine build dual wield. SO much fun!

I did the second one to try and get the twin blades while I was level 20, I got the trick chest and ended up in hell farming bugs and miners till I was level 30 and now I’m at the round table after running from mages and shit and ending up in the magic castle, this game is fun 😆

I used your guide when I first started Elden Ring and I will say it is very helpful in a lot of ways but now that I know a little more about the game, I think it is also very biased towards a Bleed or Dexterity build, and I just want to encourage other players to find other early game weapons and just do what feels right for them. Basically fuck around and find out haha and MAKE SURE YOU ALWAYS READ ITEM DESCRIPTIONS

Just finshed God Of War 4 for the first time, never played any GOW games or Souls game, I found GOW alot easier then Elden Ring, I just started and feel like quitting I have no idea what to do, but this definitely helped 😀

That first chest you opened teleported me to the other side of the map.

I think you should try to block like a parry so that way you could get better at parry

Would recommend the dragon in Calid but other than that great guide for beginners

Yeah grab a weapon that procs bleed. Right before the dragon dies, pop a golden pickled fowl foot. Go from level 10 to 38, lol.

I went to go get the Twinblade. Now I'm somehow teleported to a mine with centipede ladies who are repeatedly shooting me with heat-seeking arrows. I'm on 1.08.1 and um, maybe they moved that weapon? Is it only a chance to get it? I just started the game; hella confused LOL EDIT: I figured it out. There's 2 different dungeons to find at that location. It's the one that you have to jump over a high wall with Torrent, NOT the one that you can walk right into. If you screw up and get TP'ed, that mine is super hard and you end up across the map and can't fast travel.

THIS ^^^^ BE CAREFUL And more importantly do NOT get discouraged. Find the nearest site of grace. Run away from enemies and just find a grace. You can fast travel then!!! I almost put the game down bc of this trap but now I'm level 100 and lovvvving the game!

Took me about 13 tries but this did help

First time playing this type game and I'm on my 3rd NG+!!

You’re going to the wrong chest. There’s 2 chests and 2 staircases in those ruins.

Thank you for basically making it clear that its ok to use summons and spirits. Elden ring is a single player game, it doesn’t matter how youre playing because its your game.

First thing I did was beat the beast guy in the cave

My problems with this game Is traversing the map cause i have absolutely no idea on where to go, and idfk how to get equipment and stuff The second problem is dodging/rolling, im so ass at dodging attacks i either dodge too late or dodge too early

I lost to a guy with flowers 10 times and was getting pissed then realized I can just go around him haha

DO NOT DO THE TWIN BLADE PART!! THEY HAVE CHANGED IT, IT TELEPORTS YOU TO A VERY STRONG LOCATION!! Edit: There are two stairs make sure it’s the right one!!!

How exactly are you summoning those wolves?

Handy stuff 👍🏻. One thing I dont get. Im playing my first game and have been very cautious, staying mainly in the first area and building up my stats. I notice that you kill the soldiers around the first ruins with one hit. Now, Im up to level 30 and it still takes me at least 2 hits to kill each soldier. Im using a +3 longsword as I haven’t found that twinblade yet. What am I doing wrong ? Even if I sneak up on them and hit from behind it takes 2 attempts 🤷‍♂️. I did find and kill that Pumpkinhead guy so I’m not completely useless 😂 Update : I decided to go and pick up the Twinblade so headed out to the Dragon Ruins. Found the dungeon and chest. However, when I opened the damn thing it turned out to be a trap and now I’m stuck in some kind of mine area full of really tough crystalline creatures 😮. They’ve wasted me twice so far, so now I’m not feeling too confident. If I can’t get out of this place I’m in trouble 🙁. And where is the Twinblade ? Are there 2 dungeons in that Dragon area ? It certainly looked like the same one as in the video. Some steps leading underground with a group of zombies outside and a couple of rough dog things 🤷‍♂️.

13:59 That isn't just any NPC there. Run out her dialogue and you'll get another summon. Also, the ball farm still works.
