If you really were part of the "speedrunning community since 2014" you'd know better than to gatekeep and arbitrary choose who's part of it, since gatekeeping is in direct contrast with the spirit of "the speedrunning community" ;)

Any% is pretty dead from the patch.

The one thing I love about Charlie streams is that even if hes so focused into a game or speedrun he will still say thank you for your prime or subs/bits etc.

@@virtualmartini well that is a stretch because of course repetition eventually makes a hard thing easy. Not every strat is necessarily hard to do but some are. So i would say taking everything together it is hard to do a speedrun because you need to learn everything, apply it and you also need a lot of patience which is like the most important component. You will play the same game on end and eventually it comes down to seconds and you will have countless runs where some dumb shit happens that makes you restart again. So yeah it is tons of repetition but that doesn't make it less hard.

Most of the tech in this speedrun was nerfed last night. - Hoarfrost stomp doing significantly less dmg and the royal knights resolve doesn't work on spells and arts anymore. Wrong warps still working but some runners are saying the record will be 30-40 mins with the new patch

11:45 "We're in a bit of a pickle, I'm not gonna lie" had me fuckin rolling. The delivery just killed me

I remember watching Distortion speed running Bloodbourne and just wasting 5 to 6 hours of my day starring at my screen watching him get better and better. Hes one of the most insane runners to date.

Keep in mind to anyone watching, the v1.03 update that was just pushed out killed +9 Hoarfrost and Royal Knight's Resolve buff. The speedrun as it stands simply doesn't exist on v1.03, and new runs will either be on the old patch or have a different route. It's not clear if the Elden God glitch works in v1.03 either.

@@ghoulofthebeat4946 reroute to what weapons there is not a good alternative rn hoarfrost stomp was great because aoe made it safe and less rng on boss moves to be able to hit. Rn there is not a weapon with similar damage output and aoe.

@penguinz0 for the Godskin Duo's rolling attack, if you manage to get to the side of the roll you can just target lock and strafe in the opposite direction he is rolling if you are close enough because his turn speed is not high enough to catch you. It's really hilarious dodging it that way and doesn't require panic rolling (except maybe the first time if you are too far away when he starts it). Although I haven't tried it, but if his turn speed is truly low enough you might be able to just get close enough to stand still and maybe get some hits in.

I was at 150 before I beat the game

50% of a speedrun is learning your route, the other 50% is then executing your route and boss fights down to a T. Specially now for guys like Dist, he's got his runs so clean now that if a bosses AI doesn't do the right attack or he misses one attack it can literally kill a run and even on the best of runs because you reset for small mistakes fatigue becomes a thing and then mistakes happen even more. It's really a true skill to do these. Yes anyone can run the game fast using these methods and skips but you might cut your runs down to a few hours. These guys are already sub 30 and still shaving minutes off their times.

ive literally put in 25 hours exploring limgrave and weeping peninsula and have yet to go farther so watching speedruns always blows my mind at seeing how much more is still to come

@@nemluka They needed to be nerfed. Souls games have a reputation of being hard, and having weapons capable of 5 or less shotting a boss at their same level is not hard. It's not "hard if you don't use certain weapons" it's just hard. Moonveil needs to be nerfed as well. Also as someone who used hoarfrost, it 100% needed a nerf. The game shouldn't just be roll, L2. That's how it's been in every other souls game except it was roll, R1. Everyone complained about that. There was no point to using anything else, and it got old fast.

With some of the nerfs to the meta strats, people really do find ways to push through. Though I doubt that they'll get better times than the old runs since some strats were completely busted.

If they are playing the current patch, zero chance it is still used. It does just barely over half the damage it did prepatch.

On a whim I decided just to see how quickly I could beat the game with out any prior knowledge of the speed run routes I beat the game in about 5 hours I'm gonna have to try out the speed run strats look fun

It'll be cool to see if anything changes in the run with the new patch. Cant wait for Charlie to get the first sub ten.

NG+ for me took around 3 hours over all just doing the Ranni quest line only then going straight to the capital thru endgame. Turns out you don't need to do all of the main bosses up to the capital at least. Skipped Margot my entire second play thru

Sadly they nerfed hoarfrost stomp so thats gonna effect the run quite a bit Edit: also nerfed determination, so the Godskin Duo fight is gonna suck now

@@nemluka so I suppose they should ignore a fair percentage of their community and focus on... Letting some obviously busted weapons? Idc if it is pve the damage of some of the weapons was absurd and completely broken both in pve and PvP. Is not about killing some weapons, is about balancing them.

The recent patch fixed the royal knight determination glitch as well as nerfing hoarfrost stomp, I wonder how much that’ll effect these speed runs

Try to put all defensive talismans on and go for light equipload or put on bloodhound step itll be a little easier for you to dodge attacks best of luck sir

Let's be honest- Charlie could beat any speedrun record without even breaking a sweat. No wonder Charlie has never been invited to a Dream manhunt. Dream would be slaughtered within seconds.

If you get into their arena in the not intended way they don’t register that the battle has started yet so they don’t do anything
