    como disfruto de estos videos, son joyas para mi. Se me hizo super interesante lo que platicaste acerca de los pigmentos y la forma en que los molían dependiendo de para que los utilizaban, nunca había oido hablar de eso. Gracias por compartir tus conocimientos

    I use a very limited palette: cad-red, “white”, ochre, sienna, Venetian-red, burnt-sienna, Alizarin-Crimson, burnt-umber, ivory-black, Prussian-blue and sometimes Ultramarine. I use the colours as a pianist uses the keys. I imagine that if the old Masters were the New masters or were living today they would utilise whatever was available to them. You just have to imagine which components would yield the outcome that you will. Love the channel. Wonderful presentation.

    A few years ago in a trip to Madrid in Museum del Prado, i watch paintings of El Greco. He especialized in Religious subjects. His technique is unique, so diferent from many others Artists in his timelife. Velazques or Rubens.

    Thank you, very interesting. I've always been amazed by how free felt El Greco in using a standard and codified traditional venetian technique to reach original results, different from every one else. It would be great to study the differences between young and mature Tiziano's working method...

    Hi from Greece! Incredible tutorials and videos. I just wanted to say that you pronounced El Greco's name correctly which is not an easy task! Seems like you do a lot of homework and research down to the very last detail which can take an awful lot of time and work! Congratulations for your academic approach and thank you for the enlightening videos.

    Hello Foley: Thank you for commenting. In this particular demo the surface is pretty absorbent, so the drawing dries quite rapidly because I am using mostly solvent. I moved on to the working up stage immediately.

    Hi Luis, thanks again for the great content! How do you regulate the increase of fatness of the paint films during the painting process? How strict one should be with the fat over lean -rule, ie. should you make different painting medium for each layer etc.?

  • @LuisBorreroVisualArtist

    @LuisBorreroVisualArtist

    3 жыл бұрын

    Hello Henri: Thank you for commenting? For this painting I used medium exclusively in the second layer only. In practice you should use a small amount of solvent in the first layer and hardly any medium at all, except for glazed passages. To create velaturas on the second layer you can drag the brush clean on a rag to reduce the amount of paint on your brush. Velazquez worked this way. You can also add chalk to your paint to make it more transparent. I don’t make different mediums for each individual layer.

  • @LuisBorreroVisualArtist

    @LuisBorreroVisualArtist

    3 жыл бұрын

    Thank you for commenting Gilmar. I used washed linseed oil that has been allowed to thickened by exposure to air for a few weeks with a small amount of drier( litharge). This type of oil is described by Pacheco for red glazes. It makes the color very rich. The oil was not cooked with heat at all. It was thinned slightly with spike oil. This medium was used for this glaze only.
