Whoa, Chūō Daigaku! A Japanese friend of mine is a professor at the university (academic area not sports) and my wife's father was an alumni of Chūō Daigaku before going on to play professional rugby on a corporate team, many years ago. So interesting to see how their runners train and the mentality of the runners and coaches. It's hard to imagine how those guys can run that fast and then just wind down, go to sleep, recover and do it again the next day. Scary strong. I'm going to send this to my professor friend! I commented on the Ruy Ueda mountain trail running episode as well - this series is such gold, bravo.

Can't get enough of this series! The Japanese are absolute machines, there's a lot that Western runner's can learn from their mentality towards training and racing 🔥

I was already interested in ekiden(Japanese running culture thanks to Haruki Murakami)and did some research on my own some times ago but wasn't much satisfied . And now with this series I know pretty much about the teams and all Now I will tune in to my first ever live Ekiden experience. All thanks to Sweat Elite and Tempo japan Team👍

Interesting to see how those long Tempos are a very popular training in Japan. On top of that, the 400's at the end of that are ridiculous! What a strong team.

15:48 Just saw the Chuo University press conference for their Ekiden team. I think he is selected, his name is Shirakawa Yodai. 😊

How many episodes more before Hakone Ekiden? Will there be any episodes on Aoyama or Komazawa?

I am kind of surprised that no teams have used the outside lane and/or reverse direction on the track to reduce injury.

Maybe they do their warm ups-cool downs in the reverse direction? I trained with a corporate team in the 90s and we did 20k all in the same direction but did the warm up from the dorm on road and the cool down in bare feet on grass.

Maybe there's no math student among them, to count the lenght of the track on lane 7/8 ;p

Chuo is prestigious school in law field, on the other hand ,No law faculties are dubbed as HiHo meaning in Japanese that academic ability is pretty poor. It sounds a little discriminative 😅😅😅😅😅😅We also sing a traditional Chuo school song 🎉🎉🎉while watching Ekiden like Chikara- Chikara- Chuo- Chuo-🎵 it means Let Chuo law school stay power! Power! Power! My chuoooooo chuuuuoooooo😅😅 in the end, Top private university across Japan is So-Mei, Waseda university and Meiji university. Their Ekiden are always very amazing and technical. Deserves to support the both universities 😮
