Eighth Wonder were an English pop band, formed in 1983 in London, initially composed of singer/model/actress Patsy Kensit, her brother Jamie Kensit, Steve Grantley, Geoff Beauchamp, Nigel Davis, Jake Walters and Lawrence Lewis. The band first enjoyed major success in Japan and Italy in 1985-87, thanks to their hit single "I'm Not Scared", before finally breaking through in the UK and across Europe in 1988.
This was a minor hit in the Netherlands, reaching # 4 in the Tipparade on 23 April 1988.

A lot of people did not know that this was actually a Pet Shop Boys song who had collaborated with Phil Harding who was behind a lot of the Stock Aitken Waterman productions in the late 1980's. The Eighth Wonder version was a fantastic song but also a slow burner song that had climbed up the UK charts for a couple of months eventually peaking at no. 7 in April 1998 at the same time that the Pet Shop Boys themselves were at no. 1 with 'Heart'.

Patsy Kensit, cute and in some ways beautiful however horrible life. Anyway, this song is produced by Pet Shop Boys. What are the dogs (that bite) she is scared of? Finally I know this - Neil (Pet Shop Boys) said: "In the song, the idea is that she's got this horrible gangster boyfriend who's pushing her around but she's going to stand up to him because she's not scared. The dogs are the hooligans and criminal elements around them." The lyric 'Take these dogs away from me' is based on a quote from a John Betejman poem called 'Senex'. - Now you know it too ;-)
