EGO Select Cut Premium Blade Comparison: Mulching vs Bagging

In this video I show the two different stock blade sets that come with the EGO Select cut lawn mower. When you buy this mower you get a base upper blade along with a mulching blade and an extended run time blade.
Both of these blades can be purchased on their own but there is also a third blade set that I didn't feature in the video. EGO also makes a high lift blade set which is bets for bagging or picking up leaves. This blade must be purchased on it's own.
As I mentioned in the video I think the EGO mower has fantastic run time and when the mulching blade is installed it will mulch very well for a battery mower. Even still I'm not convinced it's the best battery mower on the market. See this video for more on why I say that: • Is The New EGO Touch D...

Thank you very much for this video. It came with the mulching blade (jagged) attached and I had not idea what to do with the other blade. Sooo...being a dude it took me a while to read the instructions, and I like bagging. So i'm going to have to swap the blade to the one you have. Thumbs up!

Thanks, in the manual they don't really say one blade is better for bagging and they don't say anything about how the tri-cut blade actually drains the battery faster either so hopefully this helps someone out there.

Hi Turf Mechanic! Now that it's 2021 i was wondering if you'll be doing a comparison between the lm2130sp model and the new lm2150sp model? So far I've gathered very little differences but one engine may have more torque? your thoughts? Keep the videos coming! great content and thanks for all your help thus far!

I replaced an EGO 2015 5-amp 20” push mower with its 2021 equivalent (LM2100). Something I’ve noticed is that even at its lowest blade setting, the 2021 doesn’t cut as low as the 2015 did. I wonder if it is because the main blade is mounted higher up in anticipation of adding a 2nd blade.

Do you have a video of the mower mulching the leaves? I haven't seen a video of an electric mower mulching leaves well.

This is the best comparison I've seen on the web between these two blades. Out of curiosity, where did you get this information? e.g. 10% increase in battery usage with the tri-cut blade, etc.?

Thank you so much for the compliment! As for your question, I got it from a tools review website. I've been meaning on double checking the run time with both blades on but it takes such a long time to do I keep putting it off. Its important info to get right though so soon enough ill get it done.

Thank you for you video. Question: is there a big difference in the cut pieces of grass between the mulching blade and the bagging one? Your comment is much appreciated as I am thinking to buy the same machine. Thank you in advance. Dario from Italy

I wish I could give you a perfect answer but I can't at this time. The bagging blade is called the high lift blade and I don't actually own it. When I made this video EGO didn't label these blades the way they do now and I'm not sure they actually had a high lift blade available for the select cut model at that time. These days the EGO documentation calls the blade I normally use an eco blade I think. The other one that comes with the mower is the tri-cut mulching blade which I put on only every now and then. The third blade you have to buy separately, that's the high lift blade which is best used for bagging or suction. It's probably going to leave bigger clippings but I can't say for sure until I try it.

I've had mine since around March or April 2020, never had a problem with mine. I suspect older generations of this machine may be less reliable than newer gen versions but I can't back that up, just hunch.
