Thanks for the video. I've had an EGO Power mower for years and am in the market for a weed eater and wanted to see if and how the mower battery could really be used in/on a trimmer. Your video confirms it can and the demo of the string installation made the thought of having to install/ replace the string less intimidating. I returned a Ryobi trimmer because it was too much of a hassle and I guess I lucked out with my first trimmer, a Black & Decker, that somehow lasted for several years without my ever needing to replace the string! Eventually the motor gave out though.

It's amazing that you decided to do a video on this Rob. I just spent two weekends screwing around with my gas trimmer trying to get the yard done. Finally finished today but like you said, messing around with changing line is a pain, and now my pull cord decided to hang itself out about a foot from the unit which means I'll be opening it up to put tension back into it. Ugh! I think I'm going to invest in an electric model and stop messing around and wasting time. Thanks bud!!!

@@SevenFortyOne I've already replaced the carb once. It starts right up but the line loading drives me nuts!

Not a bad package, I purchased one over a year ago, the charger burnt up and tried to contact ego for several weeks, could not get thru to them and ended up throwing the charger and battery away because I could not get hold of company,had to purchase a new weed eater and blower from Walmart to trim my lawn!

Looks great and I love how the reloading of the string is so very easy! I have a question, how long can you use the trimmer before recharging it? My current trimmer only goes for about an hour...Does the EGO Power trimmer battery usage go longer than an hour?

Battery power is the way the world is going... I have had a Oregon one almost just like your's for about 5 years now and works pretty good. If your doing normal trimming around the house its great! But if your trying to take a field down like i sometimes have to do (lol) not so good... Mine lacks power and then battery goes down quickly... Not sure if yours with do the same? So i kept my gas one for the high stuff... Good luck with it my friend! :)

I have a heavy duty straight shaft brush cutter and trimmer head for the heavy work.

Seems to do the job. I just would be concerned about the longevity. I've tried electric yard tools and not seen one last more than 5 years. My 2 stroke gas trimmer is almost 20 years old and still running.

5 years is enough time to get another ..save $100 a year and get you a new one after 5 years..stop being a tight ass

I'm with you, I think gas trimmers and mowers are dying.

Any updates? Have you had to replace the head? Does Ego have a replacement head?

Mine is still working perfectly... no issues. I haven't tried replacing anything

u probably KNOW this by now ,,but ur handle is to LOW ,,,IT should be at the hinge of the bar and in between the gray part of the trigger !!!

Can this thing be used to trim my dog's hair?
