    Thanks for the review. The multi head stream trimer attachment rotes in counter clockwise direction so avoid getting hit by debris the operator will need to stand one the left side of the trimer's head and trim with the tip on the top left side of the line for the best performance. Even as an ambidextrous person I still find it too heavy, too long and uncomfortable to use and that is why I am going to sell it off. Install the handle onto the shaft of the trimmer attachment will increases the accuracy of the operation. The best option maybe getting the new ST1632 16" carbon fiber telescope trimmer with quick release handle, Powerload and Line IQ that is few pounds lighter and easily adjusted to any operator's height for the best balanced and ergonomic trimming experience. I have the Darwin Grip 5.0 on the edger attachment and it will save your back.

    You’re so cute! With the line trimmer you want edge vertically along the street not horizontally and put a little groove in between the grass and the pavement. The stick edger is the way to go on these when edging along the driveway in the street. Use the edge guide on the tool to stay consistent. You get a more perfect edge with the stick edger. Use the line trimmer along the fence.

  • @Cantetinza17

    See, I thought that you used the edger for the edges, but you used the trimmer for cutting down weeds that might be close to fence lines and such. Well I learned something new today. When I used to help my dad, my dad had a strap. That helps with the weight aspect.

    I have the Ego power head with both of these attachments too - suggest you get the strap it'll take the weight and allow you to focus on placement. Also, the leaf blower makes clean up a cinch and reveals the bits that may need a tidy up...clears everything away easy as.

    I find lawn edgers are only effective when there's plenty of depth to the edge you're trimming. If it's shallow, the blades hits the bottom of bounces around. Whereas a line trimmer allows you more of movement to adjust for those variations. Plus, if you're trimming grass against walls and fences etc, as well as cutting lawn edges, you can do both without needing to switch tools, saving time. I've got a lawn edger and haven't used it in years.

    I use the edger along the sidewalk and driveway. Then switch the battery to my string trimmer to cut the grass along my house, fence and trim under bushes and around mailbox post and trees. When I used the trimmer as an edger, it wasn't as effective and I wasted a lot of line on the edging. Another pro tip: Replace the blade on the edger every couple years. I just replaced it for the first time after 4 years of usage. I should have done it a long time ago. It was only $17 and edging became effortless in comparison.

    Subtle! Nice Bunnings hat btw - I have one myself. Wide brimmed straw hats are the best for working in the sun. Yes, line trimmers take a LOT of practice to get right in terms of edging. My preferred method for cutting vertical trenches with a line trimmer is to hold it upside down instead of on it's side like you were. Anyway, I'm looking at both of these products, so your video was informative.

    Interesting that you find holding it upside down easier. The biggest problem with the snipper in question is that its a clockwise rotating head and not the typical counter-clockwise (yes makes a big difference) If I am doing a vertical edge, I hold it on its side but I walk forward (counter-clockwise pulls the head along), sure I may be in the firing line of debris but its (for me) a hell of a lot easier and faster. With nearly 6 years professionally doing it under my belt, I can edge at about 1-1.5M/second in both "trench" and "flush flat edge" this way. Nothing more cringe worthy than watching someone undercut to edge or approach from a side susceptible to undercutting. See 1st attempt with line trimmer for that one.

    I don't know why all electric line trimmers default to clockwise rotation. The standard, thanks to petrol, is counter-clockwise. Husqvarna at least has a option to switch between clockwise and counter-clockwise but for the best cut you need to spool the cord counter-clockwise too which is the opposite to the directions on the spool. The only problem is Husqvarna is very lacklustre in performance. The second attempt with the line trimmer would have been far more successful if the head had of been counter rotating.

  • @TheBasher05

    @TheBasher05

    2 жыл бұрын

    If the motor is at the head it spins clockwise. That’s just the way the DC motors spin. If it has a gearbox at the head it will be counter clockwise. It’s just the way it is. Contractors primarily use trimmers with gearboxes, the average home owner would of normally had a bent shaft petrol line trimmer before battery became popular. They spun clockwise. The average home owner doesn’t care about rotation direction.

  • @liamcooper6721

    @liamcooper6721

    2 жыл бұрын

    @@TheBasher05 you do realise that an electric motor (DC or otherwise) can spin either counter clockwise or clockwise, this is a benefit of electric motors over ICE. If you bothered to read what I typed out, I said the Husqvarna electric offering has selectable rotation at the press of a button, a feature that would be nice on all electric snippers. and how anyone ever used that POS bent shaft weedwackers is beyond me.

    I own the MultiHead metal blade edger attachment and it's TOO heavy to use for me for long time! Honestly it doubles the weight of the whole edger as its heavy solid steel. Why did Ego make the attachment SO heavy ? I have no idea as they could have simply used a carbon filament attachment I think and would have been much much lighter. I wont use it anymore as its too heavy.

    I think the blade edger has it's advantages and disadvantages, for you don't need to be a professional to use one of these to do a great job compared to how you did it. With probably only a couple of goes, you do well like a professional compared to how your husband, or boyfriend, or, for me, a better way of saying, who use to be your boyfriend and is now engaged to be married to you, did it. I dare say, that a woman can do as much of a good job compared to what a young man can, or even better and so there's no excuse for a woman to say no, well done for trying- to the advantage, he showed us how it was made, like a professional if he's not one. The disadvantage is that I think if you use the metal blade edger regularly, you may wear the driveway out a bit as you said, which may not leave you happy in the long run. A thought, popped in my head, me sharing it with you, that a robust, strong plastic edger, if they have one, made out of plastic are probably better off. Off course, it makes sense, they wear out a lot quicker than a metal blade edger, and if they have plastic ones, they may come cheap for the sake of your driveway. Or maybe, the wise decision is to liaise with a structural engineer on that one and also a second opinion with another structural engineer for maybe a good call. I say that, for it's permissible with some councils, I discovered, to use a metal blade edger. I'm not giving an expert opinion- so, hope this helps.

  • @anthonybutto1925

    Also, another thought: if you use a blade edger regularly and there's any such thing as a plastic blade edger, then go for a plastic one instead. Also, if you want, let me know of any suspicion about your driveway for I'm looking into it, thanks!
