EGO 16" Cordless Chainsaw Review -- better than GAS ???

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

I compare the EGO 16" 56V battery-powered chainsaw to my 16" Echo gas-powered chainsaw. Some definite benefits to the EGO.

Been on the fence to get one of these for awhile... Thanks for pushing me closer to the edge. I have several of the EGO products and I have enjoyed them (the mower doesn't cut as well as I'd like) and they are handy in that as long as you have batteries you are good to go. I hate messing with gas because you always run out in the middle of a job it seems like. I do wonder about the chain lubrication...how does that work with this saw? Love your videos. Keep them coming.

Thanks for the comment! The chain has an oil tank like other chainsaws and it keeps the chain lubed as you'd expect. Speaking of gas-powered saws, a neighbor had trouble with his gas saw in the middle of cutting down a tree and was stuck with no solution. He was worried about having a huge tree near his house that was half cut thru but still standing. I went over this morning with this saw to help him finish. It was nice knowing that it was going to get the job done.

@@FixEverythingYourself I just found a maintenance vid that answered the oil question. Glad you were able to help your neighbor out lol. That was actually what brought about my recent interest in getting a saw. I have a couple of gas powered saws that have been sitting around SOOOO long that I have zero expectation, or hope, that they would start. I actually need to get rid of them. But my neighbor has needed help from time to time and having a ready to go EGO would help both me and my neighbor. Thanks again! Have a great New Year.

Thank you. It's a great tool. I use it a lot. It can't replace gas in all situations but it's so convenient.

These battery tools are a tough call. Your link to the product now shows just about $300. With 56 volts the battery is a dedicated one, you're not going to put it into your drill. The Ryobi 40 volt battery for their saw can get close to $200. Convenient, yes times ten, but if they're not a solution to environmental woes (California ban w/gas outdoor equipment under 25 hp Jan 1, 2024). Draining fuel after each use is a big help to gas powered tool longevity.@@FixEverythingYourself

Good review, im ready to invest in this ego chainsaw. One question, are the 16 inch chain blades interchangeable between gas and electric units? Do they all use the same chain? I currently have a Stihl gas saw and several chains and would like to be able to use on electric unit as needed. thankyou

I haven't used a different brand chain yet but others should work, I believe. Of course, EGO only recommends their brand but they use the word "recommend", not "must", and give no reasons why other chains won't work. The EGO chain for this one is AC1600. You could look at one at Lowes and compare to one of your chains and see if there's really any difference.

No, just attach the battery and the chainsaw is always live as soon as the trigger is pulled
