I’ve had a similar experience as you. I hate tying glo bugs so started using beads which I also don’t enjoy although it’s super effective. I’ve presently been tying sucker spawn type flies and caught a decent jack steelhead yesterday on one and I got that feel good feeling of using a hand tied fly. I’ve tied Devon’s tungsten taco and those work good too.

So I have this material and I'm considering making these with a blood dot. Gonna try to tie in the blood red with some of the other colors and see if I can get it to look like a blood dot egg

Thanks Jake, I was wondering if you downsized the pattern when simulating trout eggs in waters that don't have salmon ? Thanks

Using some of the hot color fire hole stone tung beads on some of the lighter colors of that material ( if it gets translucent enough when wet ) would make awesome weighted blood dots using the 2nd tying method.

Yeah thats what I was explaining with the Gulff resin blood dot, it works but hard to see, same with the bead I would think.

Trying to figure out a good way to add a blood dot with the eggstacy.. Any ideas other than the bead??

Have you ever used the pen cap trick when tying with McFly foam? It makes tying eggs super quick and easy with almost no waste.

What kind of knot do you tie on these bent eyes. I fell that a clinch knot would pull the hook back away from the hook set. Thank you.
