I live in NZ, the home of the Tea Tree. I am highly allergic to tea tree, to the point that I got blood poisoning when it got into my bloodstream. If I use tea tree I have to use gloves and a mask! This is very similar to my recipe, I use more honey and tea tree, and a whole egg from my little bantam Fiona. I also add some hemp oil now, because I can and I have a supplier. Here in NZ we use kawakawa as well for extra healing. LOVE this video. Thank you 🙂🙂🙂 I also appreciate the egg custard technique!

What an interesting recipe. I’m gonna give it a try tomorrow, thanx. When I ordered micas for the first time ever, upon opening the box much to my surprise I had several containers of this black activated charcoal. I must have been high on Benadryl when I placed that order cuz I do not remember even knowing what activated charcoal was. I can’t really go wrong with black.

Interesting recipe. Thanks. I would never have considered the addition of citric acid. I guess it doesn’t change the PH enough to interfere with saponification. Did you use a higher percent super fat for the high coconut oil content?

Hi! Loving this recipe! Curious to know if instead of using base oil solely being coconut oil, could I still use the same ratio of egg whites, citric acid, coconut milk, baking soda, honey and aloe vera gel to a masterbatched oil base? I haven't yet made a soap using straight coconut oil. Would like to start off with my familiar batch of oils. I would love your input! Thanks again for all the education and tips you provide. You are truly inspiring!

For a few of my recipes, the soap feels drying the very first use but moisturizing thereafter. Does anyone ever get this? Why is that? FYI, I superfat at apx 5 to 5.5%, (ie using a lye discount). However, in addition, I do add more oil just before ouing for hot process and shortly after trace for cold process soap. My soaps generally have fruit and vegetable additives (like avocadoes, pumpkin, etc).

All soap can be used immediately after the saponification process is complete. But for a harder, longer lasting bar you should cure the soap until the bar stops losing weight. Usually, 2 weeks.

Lala Shelala how did the bars work out? A lot of food ingredients work fine in soap, it gets preserved bij thesaponification. But if it doesn’t you can get discoloration or mold.

@@Illchangeitlater The bars worked out just fine and my skin feels great. If you want the recipe you can go to the library and get the book Pure Soapmaking by Anna Marie Faiola call number 668.12. I did not have the palm kernel flakes, almond oil or the avocado butter that she put in the recipe. I subbed avocado oil, sunflower oil and increased my red palm oil. In other words, I used what I had and did not have those colorants or essential oils either. I also had some avocado leaves from the tree in my yard, that I dried and added. It lathers very well even though it has not cured completely.

Since the soap has egg whites in it, does it need to be kept colder? My daughter would love this soap, but I'd like to make sure it doesn't have some special care. Not that it would stop me from making it for her, I just want her to make sure it lasts.

alskdfjalsdkjfl;askdjl;asdjk most liquefied foods can be used fine in soap because the saponification “cooks” and preserves it. So you don’t have to refrigerate your soap bar(unless it’s summer and it really feels good under the shower😉)

Ok you don’t have to keep egg soaps chilled or anything like that. When it’s saponifying in the mold it’s fine to gel the soap. I’m a soap maker and have made countless of soaps with eggs. Also, if you don’t gel you get gray colored soap like that. And the coconut oil is too high in the recipe. For face for even acne prone skin, don’t use such high amount coconut oil it’s very drying and even acne prone skin needs moisture. The type of oil used to make the soap is much more important than using merely highly cleansing oil such as coconut oil. Avoiding high amount of oleic acid base oils are a key as it’s pore clogging for oily skin and use other conditioning but lighter oils.
