Eflite Habu on a 4s 5000 with minor crash!

Ғылым және технология

Running a Spektrum 4s 5000.
I had to shave some foam from the bottom of the battery hatch to get it to fit but it turned out well.
The minor crash cost me my rubber nose cone , but she glued back on no problem.

    I’m a new pilot I’ve been flying the arrow Scouts and the apprentice. My question is I just got this jet the RTF version and it comes with a 3S but all I have is smart 5000 4S packs. I know you use it in this video but am I going to be OK? What would you suggest I do with the battery? Should I slide it back a bit. I just don’t want to go out and get 4000 packs that cost a bunch of money when I have pretty much new four packs of 5000 4s.

    I noticed that the Habu really likes to bounce a lot on landings?? Especially if it hits a hump on the runway it gets bouncing like crazy. I am wondering if changing the wheels to something softer. What do you think.

    No , practice and giving her plenty of time to touch down with very little flare. Use plenty of runnway to let her settle in.Then once fully rolling, immediate DOWN elevater to plant the nose. It acts as a sort of brake. Watch my most recent HABU vids and you can see me starting to get the hang of it.

    Me too! I actually bounced so hard that my front wheel came off! Luckily the whole assembly popped out like his video on the wing where the plastic strips come loose. Otherwise it would have ripped the foam. Easily fixxed by gluing it back in. My problem is too short of runway. Im 2 for 3 with 2 good landings and 3 bounces for crash!

    Really wish they did a bnf of this plane. I'm not good with programming receivers. Hate to pay $400 for a rtf when I got a dx8 and batteries. Great content though as always 👌

    I feel the same way. Get the PNP like I did. Its $219. I put a $30 Admiral stability pluse receiver in and am very pleased. But after flying this bird, to be honest it could be flown easily with a non gyro receiver. Like the ar620! Also I subded your channel in hopes you will upload a flight for us to see!!

    What a great flier! Seems to me that it doesn't need flaps, behaves like flaps are down, but without extra drag.

  • @FatGuyFliesRC

    @FatGuyFliesRC

    Should be able to keep an eye on the ESC temp. Try to keep it down below 140 degrees. Start out with a 3 minute flight and feel the ESC , if you cannot keep your finger on it then go back to the 4s setup.

    @@FatGuyFliesRC how do I check the degrees? And your saying if i put the 80 amp in fly it with 5s for 3min then check the esc and if it's to hott go back to 4s. So with that being said the motor on the habu is 2847 3100kv . that motor can take an 5s right ?

    Okay you flew the haboo on a 4S 5,000 milliamp battery I wonder if I could fit a 3s 6000 milliamp battery I am a slow flyer but I would like a really long flight time? Do you think that this would work weight-wise?

  • @FatGuyFliesRC

    @FatGuyFliesRC

    I actually cannot answer because I set my time to 4 minutes on a 4000 and I still have about 40 to 50 % left after mixed flying. Since I video tape all my flight for the channel I want the flight to be short. But an educated guess on a 5000 with good throttle management (as you mentioned) I would say 6-7 minutes with approximately 20% percent left on the lipo. But test that, dont just take my word for it please!

    You mentioned that you dipped the broken nose in hot water and then glued it back on. Did you use your white gorilla glue again? I thought gorilla glue doesn't work well with water

  • @FatGuyFliesRC

    @FatGuyFliesRC

    I used the hot water to expand the crunched nose back to original shape and then dried it good. Then I lightley weted the area for the gorrila glue and taped it off with blue painters tape until cured. Nose is as good as new.

  • @FatGuyFliesRC

    @FatGuyFliesRC

    As with all EDFs plenty of runnway for take offs and landings. And remeber you dont have immediate thrust if you get in a tight spot. Thats why most EDF flying is wide sweeping loops and turns.
