Eflite Cirrus SR22T 1.5m - Best 2nd RC Plane? Maybe.....

The Eflite Cirrus SR22T 1.5m rc plane could be the best 2nd rc plane for you. Lots of variables to think about. I review the reasons why this rc plane is perfect for the beginner pilot who's looking for that 2nd plane in the hanger.

    I'm flying this now... Appreciate your review. One additional fix I had to do was craft 2 small holes in the firewall too allow more air to flow over the ESC as it was getting hot! Perfecting my landings but really live this Cirrus!

    Yep, I removed some foam on the right side of the firewall to let air flow over the ESC.. Not sure why Eflite didn't do that.... Its a great plane

    Totally agree with what you said. Funny enough I'd made the same mods to mine. Yes the wings do take a bit of messing about to get on. Another thing I think is worth mentioning, especially for newer pilots is this. In the UK we get alot of light grey skies and when this plane banks over, the mainly white wings become really difficult to see. I've ended up changing the grey leading edge to red using tape and have used lettering to replicate the Reg no on the wing. This really does help ALOT 👍

    Thanks Paul.. Good tip on the leading edge.. When I fly inverted, she almost disappears on gray days.. Adding some red on leading edge would really help. Thanks for commenting.. Appreciate it.. - Will

    Hi Will, thank you a very informative video. I'm thinking of another plane I'm burning my Trojan up 1.1. Shying away from the 1.2 TrojanT-28 with retracts as you say get a bad landing and have breakage, seen it at my field.. I have it on a wish list your video popped up first so, time will tell, thank you, Never 🛑.

    This plane is one of my go to for all weather conditions.. She can handle wind, early morning darkness, cold winter flying.... etc... Easy to fly and is super dependable.. Also, can fly like a bat out of hell.. If you are into the STOL planes, the FMS Maule really surprised me. Nice slow flyer. Always appreciate your comments on my videos.. Thanks Will

    Hi Will, I’ve just recently got this as my 2nd plane. My 1st was the apprentice sts. I was very worried if I should buy this or not because I wasn’t sure if I could fly it. I couldn’t believe how easy it was to fly!!!! It’s so smooth and direct, very very stable indeed. It doesn’t seem to catch the wind like the sts does making it easier to fly somehow. Excellent plane.🇬🇧

    Thanks for the reply. Really appreciate it. I have mess of planes, but after flying this for a few weeks determined it could be that next step plane for sure. As you found, its easy to fly and land. It can perform aerobatics very well and is just a wonderful all around solid plane. Thanks - Will

    Still my favorite plane on Real Flight Evo simulator. That $299 price tag is slightly hard to swallow, but I must own this plane.

    Love the videos, thank you so much for these. I have the Cirrus SR22T and recently got the older blue one at a swap meet. I think the right wing aileron servo is going bad (it grumbles a little when I first connect the battery, but stops after moving the aileron a few times). 2 quick questions, do you think the servo is going bad? Have you any experience replacing aileron servos in a plane like this with the quick connect wing?

  • @SteffenRC

    @SteffenRC

    3 ай бұрын

    A couple things.. That Blue version doesn't fly like the newer Red version. Not sure why, but its a bit easier to stall, so be careful flying slow. Sure sounds like the servo is going bad. Swapping it out isn't usually too hard. Two approaches, ONE, get the replacement servo , unscrew the plug from that connection and tie a string to the plug. Pull the servo/wire/plug and string out. Attach the string to the new servo plug and pull back through the wing. Not sue if that will work, but it should. TWO, just cut the wires near the servos, replace the old with new and solder the wires, then tape/or heat shrink.. Good luck...

    Thanls Will. What plane is better for a second plane, the Cirrus 1.5m or the Cherokee 1.3m? They seem very similar. I haven't seen a comparison of those togeter. Thanks! Great comments and I love the look under the hood.

    Hey Bruce, Great question. I haven't flown the Cherokee 1.3M.. I've seen a few fly at the field though. I think both will offer stable slow flight and similar basic aerobatics. I'd say its a toss up and which one floats your boat more.. Personally, I like the looks of the Cirrus. Its a bit more sporty.. If I get chance to test one, I'll let you know.

    @@SteffenRC Sounds good. I actually bought the 2024 Cherokee and love the way it flies...it floats :D I was trying to decide if the Cirrus was worth buying as I also like the look, but when I already have the Cherokee, is it enough different to purchase. I'm thinking not at the moment when I have other "needs". May look at the UMX TTE or UMX TX (on sale now) or the Micro Draco. And I'd like a 1.3-1.5m...just not sure of the high wing one that makes sense. I don't have any of those so that is the direction I'll likely go. Love your reviews and flights!

    @@Drones_Eye_View I like the TTE. Not so much for the turboX. It just doesn’t fly the same. The UMX Conscendo is my favorite today.

    Sound good. I'll wait for the TTE to be on sale. I just bought an XK A800 for cheap so that will be my glider until I kill it. Not a UMX Conscendo for sure.

    Any phillips head screw that i can replace with a hex head..i do it immediately..nothing worse than rounding out grooves in phillip head screws..now you have a tough time getting them out..they seem to be using hex heads most of the time now..SMART.

    Yep... Over the years I've accumulated a mass of fasteners and parts that really help me solve problems while building and repairing. I started switching out the phillips for hex a while ago... That and the silly battery straps that Eflite uses...

    Hi Will, could you show us where you have your antennas placed in this v2 cirrus. I know the vertical one is glued to the side but what about the other one? I moved mine today from facing the front of the plane to having it parallel with the wings and I’ve just experienced 4holds and lost full control. Lucky it crashed into soft heather and I got away with minor damage and a bust prop. So I’m wondering where is the best place for the antennas? Regards Dave🇬🇧

    Hey Dave. Sorry about your situation, thats frustrating for sure. Mine is the stock setup with a vertical antenna in the back of the battery compartment and the horizontal antenna is under the rx and running parallel to the wing. I usually only get a few fades/frame loss on this plane. Is it possible the rx or the antennas got damaged? Does the range test show any issues? If the plane was fine previously, I always ask "What changed and why"....

  • @cooltube

    @cooltube

    @@SteffenRC Hi Will, yeah mine went under the rx too (inside a small tube) but then it curled and pointed straight at the front of the plane. It was flying ok ish like this, I had a fair few fades still tho which is why when I read about having one antenna parallel to the wing , I decided to switch it. This clearly made it worse. Would there be any chance of a quick video or pic of yours please? Sorry to be a pain. Dave🇬🇧👍🏻
