The mother says that they only found out that the shows were being cancelled while they were commuting to NYC from Virginia on the train. It was too late to cancel their trip. I'm fairly certain they'll either be reimbursed or be given the option to go to future showings once the pandemic/crisis has subsided.

Exactly. I needed some toilet paper and laundry sanitizer for my gym clothes and cant find it anywhere. I went to four walmarts and one target. It's a virus why do you need 56 rolls of toilet paper? Get some soap and vitamin c you will be ok.

My baby brother ran out of diapers. Went to sams they had none went to walmart we had no choice but to buy the expensive pampers one

If this is how the world reacts to a virus with an almost 98% survival rate, can you even imagine what it would be like if we were actually dealing with a virus that had a mortality rate close to the 1918 Spanish flu? The world would descend into absolute chaos. God help us if anything like that ever happens because we clearly would not be able to handle it🙄

Joelle V that isn’t an accurate statement to say it’s almost 2%. They have insufficient data so we aren’t 100% sure if anything but it has been shown that the death rate is actually around 3.4% and for the elderly or those with preexisting conditions it is upwards of 15%. May seem like nothing now but just look at Italy.

Joelle V if half US pop was infected and roughly 7% died then that is 115,000 people. That’s a significant impact. And if the pop all gets infected around the same time and hospitals couldn’t care for those who would have otherwise been in bad condition but not death, that further raises the death toll. Then take that to a world wide perspective especially with third world countries... this could be devastating if not contained.

Virus is more contagious than influenza and has the same estimated mortality rate. Check out where certain countries had higher rates of death than others during Spanish flu. If this spreads like Spanish flu, tens of millions could die, and not to mention deaths associated but not directly caused by the virus due to comprimised health care system

Media overhype caused this mass panic.

I wouldn’t call it, “panic buying.” You have to be prepared in case you either get quarantined, or coronavirus hits hard in your area and you’d rather be stocked up so you don’t have to go to the store and risk getting sick. Also, the companies that produce and ship out your food could close down because their workers get sick. Plus, everyone else is stocking up aswell so you need to stock up before all your favorite food is gone

@@johnsimms3957 The worse virus? H1N1 killed over 18000 people in 2009. SARS had a way higher morbity rate although it didn't travel as far or as bad. The flu kills way more people per year in the US. Someone never took biology in high school because you would know about those most basic pandemics.
