There's an episode of Top Gear, a USA Road Trip episode, where Jeremy Clarkson has this line: There is a severe irony deficiency in America. I'm on this RE Trip with EFAP, here. That line is all I can think off. I think its perfect. No one, not the writers, not the directors, not the producers, not the actors have a sense of what excess is and what coherence is. Don't get me wrong, I love these movies for the "so bad, its good" quality and almost a cinematic time capsule full of cheese, clichés and cheap tricks. But you've seriously wasted your time if you watch these movies without weed, alcohol and friends.😂😂

The movie novelization tells us what happened to them. Angela gets shot in the head by Alice while under Umbrella's control. We never find out what happens to Chris. Leon and Ada are eaten by a large monster. And Jill is killed when Wesker destroys the White House.

Fun fact about this movie: While filming a fight scene with Milla Jovovich, an accident occurred on set that made sixteen people fall off a scaffolding. They were rushed to a hospital and filming was put on hold. Milla went to visit some of them in the hospital out of respect. This is somehow not as bad as what happened with the making of The Final Chapter.

Actually there's a lot we didn't get ☹️ would it have been so hard to... I don't know, replace the licker in the first film with a hunter and make the final boss in the film a tyrant? (As an example) At least give us that and save the lickers for the next film and then erase everything after that and actually try? Honestly at this point I'm proposing to scrap everything and try again with this series 😐

I swear, with the number of huge underground bases Umbrella had they should have gone into bunker construction rather than the whole zombie plague.

The Alice narration at the start reminds me of the Scorcher trailers in tropic thunder. “The man who made a difference 5 times before will have to do it again. Here we go again, again”

Like the cop at the beginning of the Resident Evil 2 remake or the college students at the beginning of Resident Evil 6.

I can only imagine. I know nothing about the ratings of these movies. Just that I wasn't allowed to watch it as a kid. I have vague flashes of watching the TV trailers for these between sports games and going, "hey, it looks pretty cool". And then more and more movies released and the feeling was, "Wait, what is up with this woman? One minute she rains fire in the desert, one minute she gets beat up by this other woman in the snow? What is this?"😂😂

I watched this as an adult right after the other ones and felt it was a massive acid trip. I was so confused after it, all I remembered was water, zomboids and something to do with simulations.

Every resident evil movie feels like a separate film almost alien to the previous world but with the same characters

They feel like standalone films but are marketed as sequels to each other.

57:15 Leon and Ada's relationship is actually my favorite part of the video games. Remember in Resident Evil 2 how Ada and Leon are flawed characters but through interaction with each other they both grow and change? Leon is good natured but naive and Ada is confident and capable but cold. But after Leon discovers that Ada is deceiving him he loses his naivete but not his good nature and when Ada is confronted with Leon's unwavering morality and is given another chance by him she decides she wants to be a better person. After all the hardship they go through in Resident Evil 2 good triumphs over evil. Too bad we didn't get any of that here. Oh well. Maybe there will be enough time for that story in the sequel.

I kinda like they kept them platonic after RE2. Since then, Ada somehow got crazy spy moves and Leon reached Chris Redfield's strength. In RE6, they're like "back to business old buddy".

@@sparkypack That's one of the things I liked about Resident Evil 6, while the game isn't without flaws, it at least follows its own continuity. Hell, I was more invested with the Jake/Sherry subplot than any of the storylines of the Anderson films.

@@sparkypack I wouldn't describe their relationship as platonic. It's more will they won't they at this point where the obvious answer is they eventually will. There was a lot of romantic chemistry between them in Resident Evil 6 especially at the end when he jumps down to save her from Simmons. I think that's specifically why they made Simmons an ex of Ada's.

@@mattc2306 None of the Resident Evil games are without flaws really. I actually like Resident Evil 6 the best out of all the games in the action trilogy. I don't think you can call any of the campaigns in Resident Evil 6 a subplot. They're all essential for telling the main story.

I like how Jay asks Rags' what the flash that comes out of a gun's muzzle is at 41:55 and then when Rag's answers he goes sure.

It's ironic that Mauler speculates that Wesker lied about taking away her powers, considering the opening of The Final Chapter. Can anyone guess what they do?

@@jamesg239 Yeah, Battle Tendency has a guy shot by several _German Soldiers_ with LMGs, which do jack shit to him. He then moves the bullets through his body and shoots them back out through all ten fingertips, killing nearly everyone.

Umbrella designing 4 full city blocks with incredibly detailed (and very necessary) weather effects is peak marketing... EDIT: Nvm they made way more than 4 EDIT 2: Nvm they also made entire armies of clones... and DIDN'T make billions off that instead of zombies...

What I want to know is, who the fuck is still manufacturing all those firearms and ammunition? If the world ended, maybe you'd find old weapons cachés and military tech in specific places on Earth that you'd have to look for and get into. These movies, everyone just has them. They said there wasn't enough food and resources at one point. Are there still corporations manufacturing guns and vehicles? Don't tell me its all UMBRELLA. Clearly, they've no workforce. Its all thirty people in a conference room. Every other NPC is a random or a zombie or a monster.

This movie is such a video game Levels with bosses Unlimited ammo Nonsense plot I fuckin love it, total popcorn movie i also dig the score, especially the opening theme

They just copied the scene of Ada and Leon and replaced Leon by Alice. That's pretty fucked up

that the gun rack had like 30 guns and only one combat knife cause without that knife they couldn't complete the rip-off. also considering ada is there to rescue alice it make no sense for her to walk up and jam a gun in alices back.

I think its funny that the clone child recognized Alice as her mom despite looking different in what could be assumed in hour or hours, but sees Carlos who just has a new outfit and doesn't recognize him as father. Edit: after watching the film again, I didn't notice her calling out to him as Father where Alice soon corrects her. So now the movies are actually perfect

Paul: This is the one where I’m bringing Barry Burton in. Fans: So what’s the catch? Paul: He’s nothing like Barry, dies pointlessly and doesn’t mention sandwiches or hoping it’s not Chris’ blood even once. Fans: I would say I was disappointed but that would imply we have any faith in your ability to actually tell a RE story at all, Paul.

Too be fair, that's pretty much all of the characters they've taken from the games. The only ones they got mostly right was Jill and possibly Ada, though I'll have to watch this to remind myself what she looked like, before I am certain. While I do remember this movie, it's hazy.

They legit just chose the guy cause he had vaguely the same hairstyle and jawline as the character, then gave him a pretty subpar casual Leon cosplay and put him in the set lol

this movie is such a fucking farce that we don't even get Barry Burton giving his iconic one liners. one of the best characters in all of Resident Evil, and he never once has any interactions with Jill nor does he ever mention a sandwich once. such a waste!

i don't know if anyone mentions it re: Wesker surviving the explosion from 'Afterlife'. You see him paragliding away after the explosion when you see that other guy survived in the sewers fighting the zombies.

It's bizzare how little setup goes into this movies plot. Prior to 30 minutes in She wakes up in a series of arenas and has to kill a bunch of mini bosses before she beats a boss. Then she gets ten minutes of exposition

21:01 It's funny considering plans for actual doomsday virus attacks were turned down by the IJA in WW2 for the exact reason Mauler described while everyone just bought (and used) the mczombie virus in RE. 37:18 Just realized not only is it (regular gun) bulletproof, it's somehow *Dushka-proof* too

So, fun fact. The heart punch thing is also a rip-off from Hajime no Ippo. Except, it would only make the heart skip a beat and stun the target for a few seconds if you hit at full power with a corkscrew punch. This is just insanity.

So, the movie is just awful in pretty much all respects… buuuuttt, I do have to admit that they did a pretty good job at building up the battle in the final movie with Alice and Wesker teaming up to stop the Red Queen, now the villain of the series, before she destroys all life on Earth. I have to admit, as cliffhangers go, that’s a pretty compelling one and a reason to see the next one to know how this climatic battle in DC goes and where these characters end up after this, the little that it’s possible to care anyway. It’s gonna be a terrible disappointment, sure but I mean, come on, with a setup like THIS, how bad could it possibly be? At least the DC scenes are gonna be impressive to watch if nothing else, right? …RIGHT???

Those aircraft at the start of the movie are futuristic versions of V-22 Ospreys. Those aircraft are classified as ‘Tilt Rotor’.

I legit laughed out lous when Michelle shits out the bullets she was shot with through her finger. How counter-intuitive is that, imagine how much damage it causes to move those things from her head to the hands. They should have done it like the Wolverine regeneration.

Ive seen parts of all of the RE movies. Always though I was lacking context. This series has brought me closure knowing that even with context it makes no sense. Thank you.

Remember that time they lifted the scrap between ada and leon from RE4 SHOT FOR SHOT but replaced leon with Alice? God thats so much better than the scene i actually liked.

Probably one of the only scenes I like is the Moscow fight. Only because it's a firefight.

So in the previous movie (Afterlife?) they had it show the whole Japan infection with the woman in the rain attacking the man. Which then showed a zoom out showing the whole world go dark and then zoom back in after a time elapse, going back to the same square before refocusing the camera on the Japanese snipers on the rooftops (right before Alice jumps them). They show the streets and the dead man who was attacked by the woman in blue is laying there on the crosswalk. So either the simulation taking place in that underwater base is perfectly replicating the outbreak in Japan (right down to finding the DNA and cloning the same Japanese man to kill him over and over again), Umbrella was able to perfectly arrange the real Tokyo outbreak based on their simulations, or they are psychic and knew their blue-lady zombie would attack the same middle age Japanese man.

In the games the person who uses the virus/parasite as a way to eliminate specific people like a president, control the world or using it for immortality. Which is still stupid.

I agree. BUT I wouldn't blame Rags though. I wonder if the movies remember this? I watched these movies and couldn't remember the videogames existed. Because this is so detached from anything. Having Tom Cruise jump off a building in a rom-com doesn't make it a Mission Impossible movie. And just having a character called Jill Valentine and a licker and an executioner in a movie doesn't make it an RE movie. There's no forgiving what the movies did to Jill. And yes RE5 is a thing. But theres four games before that and RE5 Jill is seen through Chris' POV and even they TRIED harder than this movie to make it make SOME sense. Don't get me wrong, the results are hilarious both ways. But I'm just saying.

i wanna request a meme, about Efap directing a movie, and using their joke stuff as they directing the movie example Mauler: "the oc comes in and start doing all the cool shit, yes, kick it, you go girl!" Rags: "it only make sense, to use reverse grip, its retarded" Frigy: *see the What you bring me? scene and start saying "Nough, Nough" im not sure what other guest,hoster, villains or memes of the Efap lore to include, but i found the idea amusing

Every 15 minutes there needs to be a hard cut to Jacob Cain shooting a swarm of bats with a 12 gauge in the middle of some random field, with a dead eyed stare of course.

I know it's a futile effort to ask for logic in these movies. But why are the Umbrella created giant axe monsters, who presumably have been in this arctic underwater base since creation, clad in tattered leathers with burlap sacks on their heads and a bunch of random rusty nails driven into them? Does the umbrella lab have a special department for that? Would not a more creative director make these guys like... "clean" laboratory variants?

I don't care about the movie, but Bingbing Li looks amazing in that dress.

I'd like to remind everyone that there was a guy that said these movies were better than Lord of the Rings

I would like to say that I nearly coomed myself while I was watching this right after it posted. When they mentioned something about a shameless naked action scene, I literally said out loud "what about shoot them up?" and then a moment later Mauler mentioned it and I was so happy. Just thought I would share my moment of absolute euphoria.

On the big fight scene towards the end: It is actually possible to stop someone's heart by hitting them on the chest hard enough. 20ish cases are reported a year in the US, most often in baseball accidents

Loved this movie every time I watch it. I got the games, I know what's good, so I can enjoy this movie on a "nice drawing, I'll *definitely* put it on my fridge, I swear" level. Half of it is on par with The room, the rest is like Doom with the Rock. Sempei Fi, the size... Of a tangerine.
