Hey Dave, the best thing about the 5 Buck meter is......you got a free battery :D
23:11 missed a little editing work, eh? Take 3... and ACTION!
"Let's check the repeatablility" haha
Definitely! Please send them in for teardown.
I have a collection of knives. The Minichamp is the most practical and useful to carry everywhere on a daily basis.
I just look for gaps. This was the result of a corrupted project file in Sony Vegas. I did originally edit that part just fine, I didn't miss it.
Man those protoboards from Mike are delicious. Solid gold plating everywhere and really clever design.
Good to see a postcard from Jersey! I'm on Guernsey, a neighbouring island. Greetings Brad.
The yellow would go with your zappy logo really nicely. Maybe you could have them mix your exact color. Hopefully it wouldn't cost much per board. Love the prototype board. Love the laser warning label on the envelope. Awesome!
That book and kit looks great! Well done vincent. I might have to by it...
White Wing Logic is getting ready to make a big entrance into the DMX community; one of their forthcoming products is the DMXcube, a new standalone DMX controller which mounts to a standard DIN rail, requires little to no ancillary hardware, and can be expanded to control up to 8192 channels.
nice Panasonic schematic, proper bench version with test points and waveforms, cool.
your personality is a breath of fresh air good sir! always a sunny disposition
Dave, You could use this ring as light for camera. You can also use IR led for low light/night shots.
It makes me want to cry the fact that that multimeter is better than mine. :(
19:55 - The model # is '1000V' :)
Liked that board. Nice work.
The white mask isn't ideal - I got annoyed with the older green ones that I couldn't write on it with a superfine permanent marker to label things, but the white is a bit too opaque to see the breakout tracks. Maybe yellow next time
I don't like springy probes - they stop you pressing hard enough to pierce resist etc.
Great mail bag vid expect to see somthing from Canada soon :-)
Ohhh that Vincent's book looks very interesting!
I recall seeing the "your one remaining good eye" laser sign in the high energy physics lab when I was in school in the late 80's/early 90s.
that range looped is now the custom alert for a new eevblog video
I feel much better now with a mailbag fix :P
Is there such a thing as clear solder mask and would that be beneficial if its surface roughness was rough enough to write on?
A new ELEKTOR DVD VIDEO "SMD MASTERING Vid Tutor" + the "How to do SMD Parts & Layout Board Stuff" Book. For next Christmas wold be nice. Thanks Vincent.
I can't believe that I didn't like the mailbag very much at the beginning. This is brilliant! So you were right and I was wrong Dave. There...
Name another with such capability that fits in your fob pocket.
The postal stamp from jersey is british 70 pence, it's part of the british isles though they're self governed as far as I'm aware
That book is awesome!
Three out of three different cheap Chinese multimeters didn't survive measuring mains voltage on me. Please try this one!
Hope to see the solder mask video!
Nice vid - but why didn't you cut some parts :'D I love Mailbag and those according teardowns ;)
What minimum multimeter price do you suggest? Bought one for 70 Euros recently.
You can probably read a lot of that book just by pausing , when you watch in HD
15:00 The letter actually said how many ways IT could kill YOU. Just after you talked about trap circuits...
Looks like I'll be buying this book. Hope it comes in pdf. Anyone have the url of where to buy it?
23:12 bit of an editing fail there. ;) Anyway, you've got some nice Christmas presents, I see.
That book was awesome, Im going to get it! :D
I'm a bit disappointed that you didn't test the less common electrical features of the multi-meter. That would have been entertaining.
I like to think of them as unintentional "Behind The Scene" features ;)
I great man once said "That's not a knife... This is a knife!"
About the only thing those cheap meters are good for is testing transistors...but t
Dave, I noticed a bunch of editing misses around 23-24 minutes in. When I do another take, I clap so I can see the spike in the recorded waveform and don't miss it during editing.
Hadn't you better check the contact resistance repeatability of those probes?
I wouldn't be averse to seeing a tutorial video on how to solder SOT23-type packages with a fairly crappy soldering iron- I killed a couple of Atmel capacitive touch sensors a while back.
Some boards are like that!
dave has a couple of videos about that, look for "multimeter shootout".
CAT II probes to go with the CAT II meter, how lucky is that?
i have an Ungar UTC-100 soldering station and it is hella sexy so much beter then the old plug and play irons
No, Alain Robert
Hey, dave! just for your info, Jersey is UK overseas territories, and they also use united kingdom £ (pound) and is governed by her majesty.
Oh cool, I think I want this book :>
My package to Mike was returned... Bummer!
Ok, ok, ok, you're right. I came here for the electronics, not the flame war.
Hi dave, I am a student and am interested in electronics design. I have an old portable PC (1980s i think) which I thaught might make a good teardown - interested?
Hey I am in Essex mike! I watch your videos never knew so close!
Please make a SMT assembly paste and solder video at soon :)
23:00 I thought I was going mad when you said the same thing four times
Hey ! I Iived in Aachen for three years. What a nice place.
The big scary LASER thing is decades old...
23:19 stopped cutting the video? its all good tho.
Yes, I'm sure. /watch?v=3V92gWH5Zvw Felix just jumped off the towers. Alain Robert FREE CLIMBED it!
Is it safe to actually try to measure 500V with a "turd" like that multimeter? I wonder what would happen if it blew up and somebody tried to sue the manufacturer. They don't outright claim that it's safe, but they sort of imply it.
Heck yeah, free book in 1080p!
Idea for destroying stuff for a video. Make your own thermite, it is easy I have done it, and light it with a 10ohm resistor igniter (hook it to a 12v line and fire!).
from 19:27 to 19:40 close your eyes and listen... :)
Jersey Pounds and Pence is the currency which is legal tender alongside 'normal' pounds and pence and Scottish issues as well. The channel islands are basically part of Britian, but maintain their own local governments and a degree of local independence. For armed forces and foreign policy and the like they rely on mainland Britain. Think Gibraltar or Bermuda - with more of a tax haven!
Presumably Dave doesn't need to remove them from any meat-based insulation first?
It's starting to become the EEVBlog post office...
That part that's further away from America
All right, lets post. All right lets send a.. All right lets write a comment! Love your videos Dave :)
Alright lets just check the c. Alright lets just check the contact resistance repeatability of this thing, shall we these... Alright lets just check. Alright we'll just check the contact resistance repeatability
You do make some questionable noises Dave.. Playing this in my house raised some eyebrows haha.
where can I buy that book?
15:32 I had to look around and see if anyone was looking at me lol
Same place, just longer.
Hi from Captinvidio Guernsey a fan from the Channel Islands love the blog
did they try to copy fluke with that.... thing?
that board is so cute that I would be shame to ruin it by soldering something...
Great channel btw
That was the repeatability repeatability.
Good video
I hope you're aware of the fact that you basically now published the entire book on KZread. Great video though - Keep it up :)
They're a crown possession, so they're indirectly ruled by the queen...
Has Vincent re-written Zoo magazine for you?
If you have one with a nuclear battery you should send it to the guys at 'Periodic Table of Videos'. =)
I have that orange multimeter :(
Bunga tiga bulan flower the English name was next to it Dave lol
From Jaycar's website: " Mini Digital Multimeter A fantastic little multimeter at a bargain price. Great for the hobbyist, student, or person who needs a cheap and quick way to check a few basic electronic measurements. Keep one in your car glove box or front shirt pocket. Test probes included." .......makes me want to vomit..
does anyone know if dave has had a go with a raspberry pi?
pour dave, he doesnt even know his dangersymbols
That spiderman dude? You mean Felix Baumgartner?
around 23:30 you forgot a bit of editing. ;)
Some guy got next day delivery and dave just leaves it a few weeks!

While that's funny, next day isn't always chosen to rush a package. It is also the most dependable form of shipping. The package doesn't sit around as long and it passes through fewer hands.
hehe, makes me think of crocodile dundee.. "That's not a knife, THIS is a knife!".. hehe..
29:01 'hot air sTATION'? Better tell him about that typo.
Great Vid :)
I actually like the white mask very much.
LOL @ 16:57 "what an absolute tosser!"
