Laadisin selle harulduse üles tänase Priiuse Põlistamise Päeva puhul. I uploaded this rarity because today is the exact day, when the current independence period of Estonia (1991-2013) became longer than an initial independence period (1918-1940) of Estonia.

was it banned during the russian empire period? just for curiosity, i like the russian empire period and if revolution didn't happen maybe the whole country will still exist today, adapted to the times, but after what happened before 1940, i accept all the independences of russia, sorry for getting to sentimental

No it wasn't banned during the Russian Empire (until 1917) - it was used in these times freely and widely by Estonians as one of the important Estonian songs. It was banned after WWII - after 1945 - by bolshevics (who annexed Estonia) as one of the symbols of Estonian Republic. It remained in banned status in annexed Estonia for more than 4 decades - until the late 1980s.

Valdo Praust curiosity, how do the people in your country see the russian empire period? It is strange and nice at the same time, because by what I have seen, when estonian had not official status, during the russian empire period, it was much more used and studied, and for the publications of that time, developed. And during the soviet period, in which it was official, it seems to have been almost much more repressed and disencouraged.

Miks on kuulda mitmeid hääldusvigu? "jään" asemel "jõõn". "kaitseja" asemal "kaitsija". Kas sellel Otto Bachmannil ei olnud eesti keel emakeeleks?
