Us too! Congrats on 21 years! My wife and I have been married for coming up on three years but before we were even engaged I told her that I'm going to sing this song to her at our wedding. She was adamantly against the idea. While we were dancing our first dance to this song I was quietly singing it to her in her ear. It's one of my favorite moments in life as well as top three I told you so's. This song encapsulates so much of what I feel for my wife and it makes me happy that someone else feels that way about their other, too.

Congratulations to all of you. Unfortunately, I'm on the opposite side. This song kills me. After 19 years together, my ex-wife decided I wasn't any of the things that these lyrics represent apparently. I wasn't perfect. Nobody is. She had a lot of people in her ear, and she listened. She sucked me back in a year later, but I just felt so betrayed and she tried to turn my children against me. I haven't loved anyone since. I believe you only get one chance, and mine has been used.

there was a guy that i loved. flaws and all, and he had a lot of them. we chased each other for years and for whatever reason it never worked out between us. that was tracy. just touch and go. that's how we always were. fast forward to late last year. he finally asked me out, and i said yes. well, things happened as they usually do, and that date was postponed. i lost him on easter of this year. it probably wasn't meant to be, but the what-ifs are what kill me the most. can't imagine how it would be with a spouse. my thoughts are with you.

We've since reconnected, have been together for awhile, and I would do anything for him! ♥

@@michelledelecki6224 How did you like it? It was packed in Northwest Arkansas at the WalMart AMP. And it poured down rain during the last half of Hootie's set. Luckily we were under a pavilion and the rain quit as the show was ending.

Wow, WHAT A SONG this was when it came out in 1997 and how amazing and nostalgic it remains in 2022. Every single thing about this song is pure perfection!

I remembered singing this song to the top of my lungs 🫁 when I was 18 word for word. Another reason to love the 90s. Still gives me goosebumps in 2021.

One of those song that give such a warm fuzzy feeling and evoking tonnes of memories! The lyrics simply begin to make sense that now I'm a full-grown adult and learning about life. Oldies from the '90s are so compelling - the musicality was just otherworldly

True story

Even if no one sees this, I would just like to get it out there... This song changed my life. I used to have really bad self confidence and even worse social anxiety. My dad showed me this song one night and had me sing it to him and practice it... this song really works well for my alto voice, and I caught on. A couple years later, I worked up enough bravery to stand up on a stage with all of my extended family in front of me and sing this. That may sound like a tiny task to some, but it was a giant step for me. I trembled at the beginning, but slowly gained confidence and completed the song. It was an overwhelmingly sublime feeling. And now, years after that, I am recording my songs and singing in public chats and working up my strength to sing for strangers in person and, hopefully soon, post covers on KZread. None of these aspirations would ever be possible without this masterpiece. Thank you, Edwin McCain!!

Going through pretty much the same thing. Don't really have much self confidence if any type of confidence, social anxiety sucks ass because i don't talk to many people especially women. Slowly starting to get better and not think so negatively about everything and myself, just taking things 1 step at a time, peace and love. ✌ ❤

So glad I grew up in the 90s best music ever so much soul passion and heart.

I can still remember the first time I heard this song on the radio while shopping. It made me stop everything that I was doing and just stand there. I had only really listened to music from my own community up to that point. It was this song that made me turn the radio dial to appreciate other cultural music. Absolutely beautiful song. I was missing out great music ! I love coming back to hear this song just to be reminded of all the emotions this song triggered in that moment!

Used to watch Cinderella Story ever since I was little, and this song made me cry and I never could find it but now😢😢😢

Edwin McCain put his whole soul into this song. I just listened to it and two tears rolled down and fell off my face on to my shirt, one solitary tear from each eye, in perfect unison. Not only do I never cry but tears never rolled perfectly and simultaneously down my face and then fell off my face at the exact same time. I wonder who he was writing about when he wrote this song.

I'm on a quarantine now, listening to this now. Update August 2020: I was diagnosed as asymptomatic patient before I post this comment. Now I'm doing fine . Well good music can do save your sorry soul. Update October 2020: My boyfriend proposed to me last Oct 4 at the beach and I sang this to him💕💖 I'm so in love💕
