Just ordered the new Rex 1966 soap, a/s/and balm. Hope it's as good as 1955. Blind faith in Rex.

I have the 1955 soap. A/s and balm. All are great and well worth the purchase.

I think I'd really love the 3one6. I love all the razors it's usually compared to, so it seems like a pretty safe bet that i would like it as well.

I would recommend it. Really smooth with just a touch of blade feel. Its not my favorite razor in that price range… but I’m trying to think what beats it and nothing is coming to mind Overwhelming majority of shaves with it have been perfect. The only average shave I had was with a blade I don’t usually reach for It may be slightly blade picky but I’ll continue to investigate that claim. I got a killer deal when it went on sale about a year ago on Amazon for $36

Why have I never seen a showdown between these two razors before? They do seem to be in the same ballpark.

Nice review; I have neither razor but have considered both so your input is helpful. I still remember and retain some lingering disappointment at the 3one6 launch - I love the DE89 and on hearing they were launching a stainless razor had assumed it would be a stainless version of the DE89. Alas, no. Then Muhle recently started selling the R41 GS (stainless) and I excitedly wrote to Muhle HQ to ask if a stainless version of the R89 would be coming. Alas, no, apparently. First world problems I know. I wrote to Matt P. and said they should do a version called 1971 and have it smell of napalm gunpower with a certain jungle fougere scent which he cleverly did not reply to and hopefully he himself was not in Vietnam. Have a nice what's left of the weekend.

I think he was leaning more toward an Agent Orange theme. The 3one6 isn’t the prettiest of ss razors. But shave-wise.. it’s a great one. A little bit of blade feel but I wouldn’t call it aggressive by any stretch.

Asteveboyd3455, I wonder if the milder Gamechanger razor might not be in the wheelhouse of the DE89. The Gamechanger razors are SS and affordable.
