Nice shave Why not carry a synthetic, considering that boars take a fair amount of time to dry (especially the core of the knot).

I don't use synthetics much. But I didn't notice any issue with the brush drying, and if it did have residual moisture the cardboard tube I used as a brush holder would absorb it. In any case, haven't had any issues in all the times I've traveled with it.

Great shave. It is my fav fall scent however it gives me a mild reaction to my sensitive skin. It is supposed to be 5 scent notes representing an apple cider mill. Good stuff. The linseed oil comes through for me on the soap but not splash.

It was loose already, so i just soaked it in hot water for awhile, then pulled the knot out while twisting. Usually doesn't work that easy, but got lucky with this one.

The Osprey has a fixed spring which can't really be taken apart without some specialized mechanical tools...The Konsol can be taken apart and cleaned in the spring area. Shane decided to go looks over function. The Konsol is the modernized version of a vintage Gillette but actually adjustable and easy to take apart and clean/repair if need be. Its really a no brainer if you want a high tech razor with actual service parts. Blackland has no service parts on the shelf for the Osprey. For 350$ I'd expect something nicer.

Loving that vintage Schick. Have you tried the Supply 'black' injector blades. IMO, they are superior to any other I have used.

Probably the most badass-looking razor of all time, but unfortunately the paint chips off it just like it did my blue Rockwell 6S. It doesn't affect the quality of the shave, but it looks ugly.

Handsome shave, looked efficient and smooth. I have had two Maggard razors slant razors heads which were good for the money. Best one I had was the Wunderbar by Razorock , sadly had to sell for finance reasons 😢, Razorock had a model before for Wunderbar called the Stealth Slant which looks like the Holy Black Slant. I didn’t know that Razorock had brought the Wunderbar back ❤

Good review as always. It's amazing how a scent note list of 47 items can be overpowered by one or two and so that's all you get to smell. Not sure if it's my poor nose or if these artisans just overdo the marketing nonsense. At least it lathers well! Thanks for the video.

Nicely shaved. Personally, I like talc. I know I'm an outlier, but my favorite base of A&E is the original Kaisan base. It works so well for bowl lathering. Don't get me wrong, all the bases I own from A&E are fantastic.

@@jonathandavis2419 I don't have a full or true wedge myself. I do have a 15/16 and 5/8 near wedge though and two 6/8 half hollows. The lack of auditory feedback they provide isn't as satisfying to me compared to a full or extra full hollow. The various wedge grinds and even a half hollow is supposed to tackle tough stubble better according to what I've read. But those are recommendations and don't always pan out. That's why any straight shaver should try various grinds to discover what works best for them. I like all the grind options. But the blade flexibility of a full and extra full really allows them to follow the contours of the face so nicely. Just like with DE blades, it's also a YMMV issue with the grinds. I didn't realize that when I started with straight razors. 🤣

Awesome video Jonathan! I swear it’s like you made this video for me 😂 I love SE razors. I just ordered the shield AC brass. I was looking at the vector too. I loved the looks of the shield in brass and a few gents said the same as you. Better than the vector and the brass was perfectly weighted. The shield AC was on BO for 2 months. He finally has them again. I love A&E but agree 100 % scents are too individual & I’ve had a few I didn’t love. Never hated any but luckily I get samples from TRC of A&E now if I can. I also couldn’t agree more. Clubman is my favorite “barbershop” scent & I just found out PAA clubguy is a dupe of it so I’m going to try the soap to match the clubman splash my wife & I love. I’ve tried barbershops from many vendors. As you said. Too much powder scent or they go too fancy and it ventured too far off barbershop to me. If clubguy is truly like clubman splash I’ll finally have my “barbershop” soap n splash set.

Surprised you didn’t like the Konsul better just seeing your preferences. Glad you found what you liked though. I kept the Konsul but sold the ambassador. I thought the blade feel was higher than the net efficiency. Have a good one.

Yea, I liked the Konsul when I tried Scott's when they first came out, but when I bought one later it just didnt work for me. Kept getting irritation and weepers for no reason.

@@jonathandavis2419 Latherhog had similar issue awhile back. I believe it was suspected blade loading that went wrong which led to blade misalignments. Once he fixed that his shaves were good. Not sure if you checked it. My only gripe about it is the heavier weight. It’s like thors hammer. :). I have the XL Konsul because the balance is better to me. If only Matt would make a Titanium although it would be high cost.
