Yes. He just left. No insinuations of racism, no whinging that "he broke my necklace", no complaints that the monarch remained silent while his brother yelled at him, no bullshitting that silence is betrayal. He maintained his dignity and spoke like a royal to the end.

Yeah, but he happily visited with Hitler. He didn't regret that? Wallis Simpson didn't want to marry him after all; she had started a snowball she couldn't stop, and she felt like she *had* to marry him, because he abdicated to marry her.

Regardless of his marriage, his involvement with Hitler and the Nazi party was a big issue in the run up to the second world war. That would certainly have been still the issue it was and was why he was sent to the Bahamas. There are a number of parallels between the characters and how they alienate themselves from the role they were born to play. They have to make the best of the path they have chosen, particularly when they burn the bridges.

When it comes to British Royalty marrying Americans ,it's a matter of poor choices. Maybe it's because Brit Royal men are rather sheltered when it comes to women of the world. I know of several Brit / American marriages that worked out well.

Why didn't either of them get jobs? She said she would have liked having an advertising agency. Well, why didn't she? Why didn't she work as a fashion editor for Vogue? They would have hired her in a heartbeat. And he would have liked to have a job, but never got one. He could have been the head of a philanthropic foundation, a journalist, author, radio host, magazine editor, but never did ANYTHING. I think their inability to explain why neither one ever found meaningful employment was really revealing. What a useless couple of people

The former king looked lost and without any happy or relaxed bodylanguage, neither ms. Simpson. A bit awkward to see them sitting next to eachother trying to talk good what has done wrong, almost like an expensive posh vase that was broken , glued back together again but still the vase is broken and it has lost all use for wich it was intended. Now we almost have the same situation. Harry had a real function as a Royal, be constructive, be supportive of his father and his brother. Now he lost everything for wich his life would have made sense. Serve the people of Britain and the commonwealth as a Royal and a prince, mary a wife who was able to understand all of that and be supportive of him and the Royal duties. There is no way that what Harry and Meghan wanted, live their own life in privacy, Meghan doin the odd jobs in charity..flyin around the world as a good will ambasador for whatever good cause, from her own political idealism. Meghan in the spotlight as a cellebrity, Harry following her or be at home takin care of the children, AND do some Royal obligations and services, both as part-time Royals, with all the benefits that comes with the job.(taxmoney) Sad to see Harry lost his way, and now it seems to me he is completely under the Meghan spell as was Edward to Simpson. There is a simularity; and when all this is gone, no media, no limelight, no purpose, no cellebrity, no attention, no influential rich friends, and the years pass by evermore rapidly, some journalist will knock on the door, requests a final intervieuw of both, and another broken vase, has been glued back together again.

I don't think it's a bad thing. He was raised for a goal he didn't choose. So he freed himself from that. To find a new way, a new meaning in your life, you need to be lost sometimes. This way he can find a sense in life that is his own.

No, this is more like Charles and Camilla. Except the verse about divorce has been changed. H and M aren't even comparable to the Windsors. Ask some of those questions of Charles and Camilla now and see how they answer. The difference is ... Charles has always loved Camilla and vice versa. No forced relationship there.
