Alex doesn't have thrilling vocals. He uses charisma and his scratched up unique voice to make up for his lack of raw vocal power. Jade definitely was the person who provided the vocal thrills for The Magnetic Zeros.

Daytime concerts suck. It’s stark and naked. The lights and darkness are so much more powerful.

This band had a certain amount of female energy. Jade provided most of that, but they also had an accordion player and a fiddler who helped. A band with a portion of female energy to it that no longer has any females in it is lost, no matter how magnificent their music and how well they play.

Its a crime to sing Home without Jade

@@DaddysBathTime actually, it was he who was hooked on heroin. Hate hearing all this "she was hooked on heroin" bullshit. She had her issues but hooking up with Jade basically saved this guy's life which is why the lack of energy is so noticable now without her. She is sounding better than ever.

sorry dude, while they are still an entertaining band to some degree, the "energy" of this band is just sadly so lacking now. And truthfully not 100% because of Jade alone, the other 2 females used to contribute quality background vocals as well. Just such an empty sound without all of them...

They should get Jade back or disband

It's like the energy has been sucked right out of them. Noticed that any song that previously had Jade singing on, looked and sounded sad and empty without her. Dude is obviously a very talented song writer and always enjoyed the creative instrumentation they used but I couldn't even get through the whole 45 minutes. Guess they aren't the first nor will they be the last band to make changes they thought were good at the time, but really weren't. At least here on KZread I can go back and watch videos from when they were a really nice band to listen to.

OK, I went back and tried to listen to the rest. "Home" was AWFUL, wasn't even a cohesive song. Ebert won a Golden Globe and has scored a short for Disney, it's time he realized that's his true path and let this band lay on the laurels of having once been a very entertaining band to see and hear, but who's best days are clearly, clearly well behind them.
