I am from Chakdara Malakand. Can't believe how much has changed . The whole empty place between the mountain and the watch tower is filled by houses, schools, mosques and Universty.

Dear Muhammad - greetings ! I am currently writing a book on the 1897-98 frontier rising. Is the old British fort on the top hill at Chakdara, by the river, still there ? Are there are memorials ?

Amazing footage - the British had no decent maps of the area when they faced off against the Utman Khel and other Swat tribes in 1895. Malakand and Chakdara were the scenes of intense fighting two years later, just 25 years before these images.

I was born in Piranu kalay down below those watch towers, the world renowned British Prime Minister Winston Churchill has a piquet named after him in Malakand because he served there in his youth while in the British army. Though many know this name in Malakand but they aren't aware What a giant he became in the world politics and especially world war 2
