I'm working us real estate interior design

I applaud you on your level of skill in pulling the best out of an HDR edit. However, a lot of time would be saved by simply blending in a flash layer and/or a window pull... especially in situations where there are blinds on the windows that complicates this process even further.

Awesome Video man! But the question is you do this for a set of 25-30 pictures it’s gonna take a whole day of editing, or you have faster methods for batches?

Do you have any advice on a simple window pull for a beginner. I have been trying to get this whole photoshop thing but I just get so confused with the layer process. its been 2 years since I've been trying to figure this out on my won lol. Also I love your video and how you get straight to the point.

here were some things you didn't explain when you did them. how did you get the layer for the ceiling?

it took me 5' for each complete picture including replacing the sky through the window

Very knowledgeable in PS and I'm not so you lost me a while back. I mostly use LR and blend my bracketed shots 3 or 4 using LREnfuse. They come out not as good as yours's but the process is fast.

If you took your photos back into photoshop and did the same finishing touches like he did your would look better, and be done fast STILL -- this guy is a complete hack, he doesn't even know how to actually do HDR, he's just guessing.

Man, you lost me when you created a new layer for the ceiling adjustment. It seems like you created a new layer by combining the others. Just can't figure out how you did that.

I'm a Fan of HDR, but not just a pure HDR shot, get a flash shot at 1/200 second for your window pulls.

Every time I do this method, I always seem to get a black dark shadow around the edges of the photo. Almost like a dehazed effect. How can I get rid of this? Aside from that, this method creates a very clean finish! Thanks

FYI, shortcut for group layers is ctrl+G

You lose me on the window masking. I can select the first window panel with pen tool easily. But when I go to finish a second selection with the pen tool (ctrl+shft+enter), it just selects the entire image. In short, I can't make multiple selections with the pen tool. Any help guys?

you can see by the .CR2 extension at the end of the layers that those are RAW files :)

What if the subject is static Army People with zone 7 skin tone , Zone 4 dress, against zone 1and 2 Clouds in sky. Which method for processing such images. This method doest works.

Typically I shoot -2, 0, +2 for my brackets with Auto White Balance. If My dark exposure is too bright I'll adjust my shutter speed and pop off another set of brackets. :)

3:55 you create "Layer 1". When I create a new layer I don't get the same result. What shortcut or option did you use to create it reflecting your current changes to all 3 layers?

Nice job but for some reason the technique never works well for me. I get lots of reflections on timber floors etc and I need a flash layer.

I like some of the mask selection ideas but the whole process for hdr takes too long. I was stuck doing hdr inside the other day after my flash remote died. I can do a flash ambient edit in about 2 minutes. Only ever did hdr outside sometimes.

No, don't cut out your windows. What you do, is take a 1/200 shot with flash for your window pull/lights Use Darken mode and your done. Faster and you get clean window pull.

I think you missed the purpose of the video. While I could’ve easily made a video on how to blend ambient and flash in Photoshop, I chose not to for this particular tutorial because not everyone owns a strobe. Whether you’re a novice or have a preference for shooting strictly ambient lighting, having a greater understanding of advanced blending techniques can skyrocket your ability to produce higher quality images. This entire video could’ve been astronomically simpler by using Lightroom’s HDR Merge but for the photographers or editors who are looking to push their editing skills passed an automated HDR solution, This information can be invaluable.

I just cannot seem to understand how to even get the crisp bracketed shots.

Invest in premium glass. Sturdy tripod, especially on carpet doesn't hurt.

Nice work but way too long doing a bedroom edit in my opinion. Not your fault, it's just a problem with HDR photography in general. White balance is never the best when shooting indoors with ambient light. I use an ambient shot slightly over-exposed and then blend with flash shots. You can edit a pic with presets in a couple of minutes. Cheers.

Good technique, but not efficient. If you need to edit hundreds of photos every day, it would unrealistic and not profitable.

@@papi_roisterous I would assume this really weighs on the price of the listing/property, rate per photo/hr, etc. I doubt this is the kinda love you put in a $100k listing with the expectation of 35-50 final photos.

Exactly. The results are amazing of course! But Real Estate Photography is a game of quickly turning over shoots. I've never met a realtor a day in my life that cared about any of the little things people are saying are wrong with certain photos. Sure if you're editing for a luxury listing/magazine and getting paid $1k for the shoot then maybe its worth it. But for my markets average of around 150-250 a shoot, this isn't profitable.

In my opinion your windows look way to dark and unrealistic. It looks like someone put a poster of a window on the wall. Like sure most customers don't notice these tings but as a photographer I'm always looking at these photos and thinking to my self how can it be darker outside then inside?

Not directed at Hunter, but wow, over 10 minutes for one image. I know this is probably a client's set, but this has to be the biggest waste of time/loss of money unless you're in magazine/advertising...(which would rely on proper composite flash technique anyway.) Or, you must charge an absolute premium for your photos...

This is NOT how you do this. You make DNG files with the bracketed photos... and you do almost all of this in RAW, or better yet Lightroom, -- No professional is wasting time doing it like this; this is 100% foolish
