    The Edifier R1280DBs is the best neutral sounding entry level audiophile speakers for Vinyl playback, they have pleasant high and a good bass and more importantly the mid's come through quite well , so a good all rounder for all genre of music as well. Plug in a T5 subwoofer and can take it to the next level :)

  • @marcosr2

    Great review! you got me thinking about the idea of plugging a good DAC into these boxes instead of using it plugged right into the motherboard's horrible onboard soundcard, sorry but I might end up extending myself a bit in these comments. I'm thinking of buying one of this for use on my desktop in the bedroom and using it with a Toppin E30 DAC, which in turn plugs into a very clean and very detailed linear power supply Allo Shanti. I was in doubt about the following questions and I think you can tell me more properly: 👇 1- Is there any possible negative effect on the sound if you plug these speakers into the DAC instead of directly on the auxiliary input of the motherboard? (because these were made to call in the simplest possible entry) 2 - The Topping E30 + Shanti together have a high level of detail, but these speakers by themselves don't have very detailed reproduction in the treble and deep bass, can't all this force the speakers a little and generate some harshness or distortion? or even leave fatiguing sound? (As I think the twiter don't have a high level of smoothness and refinement to deal with details)

  • @PassionforSound

    @PassionforSound

    2 жыл бұрын

    I think your plan is a good one. The sound from the R1280s improved noticeably with a great DAC feeding them so there's no drawback feeding a better source than the motherboard and you may actually find the treble quality improves from the E30 compared to the motherboard output because there will be a degree of harshness coming from the motherboard itself

    Hi, Great review. I'm undecided between a second hand Edifier1280T @50$ and a brand new 1280DS at 120$. I was going for the DS considering the BT but on seeing many reviews that the sound on the 1280T is better, just wondering if Im paying 70$ for nothing. I'm a casual listener and wanted them as bedside speakers to play from my phone or laptop so the DB with BT seemed to make sense. How do you think the sound compares between the two and which would you buy? Thanks in advance.

    Hello Lachlan! I am taking a second look at this review. A chain of events took place starting with the retirement of our 12-year old 40” Sony FHD TV. I bought a Hisense U7H 75”, just ordered the LG S95QR for the movie nights with my family I am looking forward to. I have yet to test how this sound bar 9.1.5 system will do with music, specs stated it plays hi res over Airplay 2 but just in case…

  • @PassionforSound

    @PassionforSound

    Often, devices designed for surround sound are pretty crappy for music because they struggle with imaging and creating a realistic soundstage. The Edifiers are definitely a nice, simple backup if you need a 2 channel system for music.

  • @BillyKueekSG

    @BillyKueekSG

    @@PassionforSound, I watched lots of reviews, went into the detailed specs and spoke to those who own this LG flagship 9.1.5 system. Feedback was excellent and this system plays 24 bits/96 kHz. Seems like many sound bars are now getting really good. Was looking at the Sony HT-A7000 with SW5 sub and RS5 surround and feedback was mixed with many who told me they return it. Unfortunately here in Singapore, we can’t buy and return after we unbox or have used it if we are dissatisfied with the sound with exceptions only if the item is faulty. A few others reviewed to be excellent for both movies and music include the higher end Sonos system, Bose, B&W, Devialet, Sennheiser, Creative. I hope this works so I don’t have to buy another pair just for music.

    Another question, I saw that the reviews almost 100% describe these speakers as great, it's a great cost-benefit, but the measurements seem a little bad (which doesn't exclude the possibility of the product sounding good, I think), you would say that there is a lot of coloration in the sound, or does it sound more natural?

  • @PassionforSound

    @PassionforSound

    2 жыл бұрын

    I think they're quite coloured and it's why I discussed the fact that these aren't really studio monitors. Colouration in the sound is generally preferable for listening to music so you don't necessarily want a dead-flat sound forusic listening. I think these are great for the price for music listening.

    They're pretty enjoyable for the price. I gather that you commenting here means you're a patron now? Welcome! I don't always know which patrons are which KZread viewers 🙂

    @@PassionforSound thanks but it appears that anyone can comment on this video. So I'm not a patron yet. I actually have a lot more experience with speakers than with headphones so I'm interested in any speaker reviews you do.

    Thanks. I worked that out after I asked you. The video was unlisted so I could share it as early access with my channel patrons. It's not due for public release until 2nd January. I didn't realise that unlisted videos appear in playlists so you've helped me learn something new - thank you! Sorry to remove the video now, but it's important that patrons get the value they're entitled to 🙂

    SPEAKERS! BLASPHEMY! hahahahah jk I love speakers. I will say though, just recently jumping on roon. I've only previously had one dac amp that had crossfeed settings and the crossfeed setting on roon has been very beneficial. But I will still remain 98% stereo listening.

    Crossfeed can be very helpful! I'm like your opposite - 98% will remain headphone listening, but I hope to have a little more (active) speaker content in 2022

    @@PassionforSound Yes, I am aware, it is because of our situations. I was in somewhat the same situation recently. But I had to break down barriers to get into a larger room in my house, which is a duplex. It's basically two houses in one dwelling, or whatever you wish to call it. My old room was right next to the neighbors so they would lose it when I played music at night, so I would always turn to headphones at night. Now I am on the complete opposite end of the house I can play stereo all day and night without disturbing any occupants in my residence or another. Changes!

    You'd be hearing how they sound in my room via my microphone, my interface, KZread's compression, your DAC and then your amp, headphones and/or speakers and room. Not particularly helpful...

    If you can save up for these, you can save up for a renown brand that is trustworthy and experienced. No way I'm going to send my money to China where knock-off counterfeit engineering is overwhelming. There will be shortcuts made to make it affordable, as in cheap capacitors that will likely pop more often than a brand who starts with quality parts. It's the principal of quality I'm after, not cheapness. Hell, even the diaphragms look like they were cutout with scissors, lol. Folks, just wait for another paycheck before spending your hard earned cash on better speakers.

    I think you're making a lot of generalisations here. I agree that spending more will absolutely get you better speakers, but these are great for what they are and what you pay

    @@PassionforSound Of course I'm generalizing. I'm generally saying low-priced products from China are terrible. As a consumer, just how desperate are you to pay for these?? You can't wait and add another $100 to get something better? Do you need these speakers in an hour? Give your head a shake. I blame companies like Amazon and reviewers like you for even giving these duds attention.

    The video, which will take a maximum of 10 minutes, lasted 18 minutes with unnecessary verbiage. the content is weak compared to the duration, also everyone has a job, don't make such long videos.
