I feel like Toxrill is an auto include here. Nasty End also seems like a great draw spell since The Hollow Sentinel is Legendary, paired with Morbid Opportunist or Species Specialist, you can draw 4 cards for 2 mana. Vraska, Betrayal’s Sting seems like another auto include. I’m surprised to not see Core Prowler, works the same way as Blightbelly Rat but has infect and it’s an artifact so we can target it with Venser. I also really like Mindsplice Apparatus, not sure how applicable it would be here but something to consider. Magistrate’s Scepter for infinite turns. Ribskiff also seems quite good here, when you create The Hollow Sentinel, he may not always be able to attack but you can use it to crew Ribskiff and give it flying and lifelink. Inexorable Tide is yet another auto include. Obviously Skithiryx.

Some really good suggestions here! Nasty end is indeed an excellent new addition to the deck. Vraska is in the decklist, I just forgot to mention her hehe! As for Core Prowler I just think it is a little bit overcosted for the impact it has!

I literally just finished a rough version of my venser deck. Saw some great ideas I might want to work in too. Especially some of the sagas. I leaned into the golem venser makes as a repeatable resource for mine. Some cards I really like in mine so far: Morbid opportunist: kill your golem every turn to draw a card. Species specialist: name phyrexian and you draw off your golem as well as about half your other creatures are coincidentally phyrexian as well. Relic of legends/honor worn shaku: your golem is legendary which turns it into a mana dork essentially. tap it before killing it off for mana. Jewled amulet: essentially a one mana mana rock. The zero cost is nice with flux channeler and inexorable tide too Reshape: turn your golem into something else before making it again. I like this one a lot. Id run transmute artifact too but its very expensive Braids, arisen nightmare: sac your golem every turn for value Tetsuko Umezawa, Fugitive: surprisingly turns a lot of toxic and infect creatures into real threats. Feels cuttable though.

Thanks for the great comment! Some awesome suggestions here! Species Specialist and Morbid Opportunist I absolutely love in this deck! I can't believed I missed jeweled Amulet. That's such a good fit for the deck, well spotted! What are your wincons with this list?

Its still very rough, but I really go all in on the poison kill. Do your best to get get some proliferate combo and go from there. Yawgmoth, dross scorpion and a mana rock that can make 2 black will kill someone assuming you have the life for yawgmoth to sac the golem and draw the card back you discarded. Relic of legends and pentad prism out at the same time also get you the two black mana for yawgmoth's proliferate. Turn 2 venser has been incredibly vital too from when I played so you can get that one poison in. Ive been struggling to get anywhere if i dont get that first poison going. Ive added lotus petal for the turn 1 venser too since its so important he comes down as early as possible as well as liquimetal torque to make it easier for venser to get in. Peat bog and saprazzan skerry have been another land I've added and liked a lot too.

I really like those depletion counter lands, but I always found they were a little risky, though in this list they are probably as good as they are going to get with all that proliferate! One of my favorite cards in this list is staff of compleation, found it overperforms every time!

Some great suggestions here. I might add that if you're really into Morbid oppurtunist and species specialist, you could try out Dark Prophecy as well. Triple black can be tough, and maybe you don't need 3 of this effect, but it's more resilient to removal as an enchantment, it doesn't have the once per turn clause and it works for all your creatures. Another suggestion I have is Mutate. Personally I only really like 1 of the mutate cards, Mindleecher, but the mechanic works well with your Golem; the mutated creature will be named Mindleecher and so you are free to make another Golem.

Dark Prophecy is one of my favorite cards, think that's a great suggestion for OP! I was not aware of that mutate interaction (I was taking a break during Ikoria and that mechanic is nuts!) but that's a neat little trick!

Arcum Dagsson is amazing in this deck for free artifact tutor, and this feeds them quite well. There are plenty of ways to make this into a repeatable combo.

Not sure it would be good enough with so few planeswalkers, though you could definitely modify it a bit to fit it in there, it's definitely a sweet card!

"we're not actively trying to do that because infinite combos are not the best". What do you mean by this? Infinite combos are great and this one is very strong; not only can it outright kill opponents if they are already infected but there are plenty of permanents that pop off with tons of counters, like planeswalkers for example.

I personally am not a fan of infinite combos so I don't actively try to set them up or tutor them. I find them anticlimactic and boring. Your experience may very and if you enjoy them by all means go for it!

@@commandpower1987 I like combos, I dislike generic tutors. The game still feels climactic to me if you have to work and dig for your combo, less so if you can just tutor it out. I don't mind some tutors though, namely entomb effects and transmute effects. I feel like if you have to work to get it out of your graveyard, or you are limited to only a few key pieces, then a victory still feels earned.

Thanks for the response! I actually don't necessarily hate instant combos myself, but my playgroup does, so I tend not to play them (as a side note they are fine with a huge board into craterhoof even though that effectively does the same thing but that's a different conversation🙄). I very rarely run generic tutors though, cause imho they go against the spirit of commander in that each game should feel different, particularly for myself since I get bored quickly, I'm glad to rarely have the same experience. Just like you, I occasionally run narrow tutors that fit the theme of the deck.
