Edge Burnishing Vegetable Tanned Leather, The Simple Way - Stock and Barrel

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

There are lots of ways to get a nice edge on vegetable tanned leather like, dremels, slicking agents, edge paint, etc...But this is a basic, simple method I use A LOT. And all you need is water, wax, and something slick with like a wood slicker or a canvas cloth.

I have found if you dye first the dye is able to soak into the leather edge. Once you burnish you seal the edge not allowing the dye to soak in. The Feibings pro dye only need 1-2 quick coats depending on desired color. it drys in a few minutes and and ready to burnish.

Thanks man! You really saved me from buying expensive finishing mediums and tools. I always prefer the more simplistic approach and try to use only natural stuff and less power tools. So this video checked all the boxes for me

Has anyone ever used gum trag or Tokynol as a leather surface finish? And burnish it in with something like a glass slicker? I'm wondering how well it holds up compared to other finishes.

Does the Montana refillable pen work ok for you, are there any problems as its supposed to be used with a a acrylic. I was concerned that the if using spirit dye could evaporate if its left in the pen.
