All those annoying kids here... Of course, it has some similarities... And I think those are interesting. I do not know if they really copied. For a musician, it is very hard to not copy something. There are millions of songs out there and normally, you inspire yourself by listening to those. When you sit down then to write a song, it is hard to differentiate between own imagination and recreation of a previous heard song.
@SuperFlashDriver

It's the same with lyrics. And believe me, trying to come up with a melody of your own takes quite a few years or so. Nowadays it's easy to use the same instruments to come up with different notes in a DAW.

OMG this was a lose your mind song in the club on a Richard Long sound system OMG
Back in 1983, I deejayed at a roller rink and often played this 45 during the limbo. I sought for unique-sounding songs instead of just playing “Limbo Rock” over and over. It was amusing hearing the kids utter, “Do Do Do Do Do Do Do!” I would’ve bought Eddy Grant’s album except “Time Warp” wasn’t on the LP (only the cassette version).
THIS IS LEGENDARY FOR WHEN IT WAS MADE.
Got me thi king about how dope it would of been to hear this at the Garage.
This song is awesome

Si bien Gorillaz uso este Sample en Stylo... Creo que como recíprocidad género que yo llegara a escuchar esto que no lo conocía en absoluto... Una mano lava la otra y las 2 lavan la cara.
How did this amazing song come about? I mean as a proto house record...its all there...and sooo hypnotic. Wowzers

The first time hearing this was at the Bassline in Philly (1988) and loved it every since!!!!!!
This is the B-side to his only hit “Electric Avenue”, but I like the B-side a lot better than the A-side, because it’s still a jammin’ song.
man! I rolled one up! and listening to this I was gone Ese!!!
Still grooving to this, and I am old!
An oldie but a goodie. YEESSS.

It's the same with lyrics. And believe me, trying to come up with a melody of your own takes quite a few years or so. Nowadays it's easy to use the same instruments to come up with different notes in a DAW.

0:14 sound pretty much the same as 0:40 in Stylo, and you'd have to be biased to not hear the blatant similarity

Yeah, similar, not identical. There’s tons of music that has a similar part to another piece. Imagine how many lawsuits there would be if someone decided a Gmaj chord on a guitar belonged to THEIR song.
@bwydlyngyr9552

That similarity you hear is a RING MOD... Different synths, different autopanning. Anyway this song sounds like a generic ripoff of some earlier eurofunk like Brian Bennett or the 1972 sound machine album. . .

This is slong slaps I know why you COULD sue Damon Albarn for plagiarism but honestly the most believable scenario is that Damon Albarn just got the inspiration from this song The two songs have NOTHING in common but a few same notes

Trying really really hard to find a similarity with Gorillaz' Stylo. A bouncing synth bass in a minor pentatonic scale that has probably been done a million times before and since Timewarp? What a stretch.
No it aint stylo.... Get it rite ...Its time warp,!! Eddie Grant from the late 70s and early 80s. He didn't bite this track... Eddie is the maker of this.!!
