And for the record just think about all off the people You've known in your life who had kids that didn't resemble there Mother or Father ? Unbelievable.

This video really puts a big smile on my face. Seeing Eddie Van Halen with his son Wolfgang Van Halen is just awesome. Eddie was so incredibly proud of his son and the kind of man he grew up to be. Imagine how much music that is in the 5150 studio that the world has not heard. Eddie Van Halen changed the world back in 1978 on how guitar playing would be from then on, and in my opinion there will never be another guitar player to change the world like Eddie Van Halen did. Rest In Peace Eddie!!

I have never, ever mourned any of my favorite musicians death's till Eddie. Maybe it's because I grew up on Van halens music & actually met him & Alex when I was 15 in Oakland California. I was so naive that I didn't realize what a lucky gal I was. I also recall how nervous I was to stand there & wait for him to sign a autographed Van Halen T shirt. Honestly I found him to have 5 great qualities. 1 his guitar 🎸 playing, 2 his stage presence was way more powerful than DLR & usually all eye's are on the frontman. 3 On stage while shredding the guitar he oozed happiness ~ you could tell he was doing something he loved. 4 His smile/grin that won my heart over~ the man was super cute & handsome. 5~ him & Alex were in a rush yet EVH took the extra time to sign autographs & did so with a polite attitude. We lost a legend but his music & soul lives on.

Well written, over the years I have been able to cope with losing with some musicians, I'm so glad you wrote from the heart, deep down I knew Eddie was in trouble I thought I had enough time to brace stupid thoughts as if self preservation kicked to shield me so broken hearted, such pain I had to go places you can't describe, took a long time to listen and watch the distance, I loved the whole band so it helps watching Wolfgang and chicken foot the clip that made me realize how lucky we were to have and see live V.H. is towards the end I watched eddie play 316 and Wolfgang joined in. Thank you for making easy to open up I kinda wish we could have met for a minute at a live show

I worked for a catering company and catered backstage at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas during Thanksgiving in 1999. NSYNC was performing and they were eating dinner with family with the Van Halens as guests. Wolfgang had those sneakers with wheels in them and he was skating around the huge backstage area. It was one of many memerable experiences I had working there. Ed will be missed.

@@ColtraneTaylor You are referring to the meth induced psychosis interview with Howard Stern around 06 or so when Ed was REALLY trying to off himself and he made that comment about Wolfie "wacking it" in the bathroom or something. that interview has mysteriously disappeared from KZread. That's the same interview where he basically said he took crystal meth to cure his cancer. He said it as an aside joke but from the way he looked back then, he was actually telling the true. I'm sure the audio is somewhere on the internet, but 100% he said something like "I used something to cure my cancer that isn't legal in this country" Stern starts laughing like "what, some illegal drug, heroin or something?" And Eddie laughs "crystal meth...". Watch the "Catherine" video from this era to see what a gargoyle Eddie was at this time. 2 cigarettes on his guitar, huge bottle of wine, him alone in the 5150 studio. He admits how he doesn't like to work there anymore because it has so many dark memories...it's on his own property!! I think it's fair to say without Wolf around to get some sanity into his life, Eddie would have died during that time period. So that's enough reason to give the kid the benefit of the doubt. I saw them on the '07 tour at the time when Eddie was relapsing (they cancelled the third leg), and it was a shit show, Eddie was terrible. I see videos from the 4th leg and he was playing excellent, and haven't seen anything bad from the more recent tours. Guy was a hero of mine but his addictions really got the best of him for too long.

Wow that was precious, especially the kiss at the end between father and son. So sad his heart must be ripped wide open. Wolf was the one who spurned the reunion on and the reason I got to see Dave back with the band. I'm so grateful as it will never happen again.

Hello from 2023 - and hot gum on the shoe - I sure miss EVH so much. I never met the man but I felt like he was part of my life since I heard the first note gallop off his fretboard when I dropped the needle on VH1 in 1978. I miss the guy so much. He was the source of IMMEASURABLE inspiration and joy for millions.

I saw them on that tour in Vancouver, BC. I snuck into the venue and watched the sound check. Lights dimmed over the stage, a bit of fog.... could only see silhouettes on the stage. Suddenly Eddie starts playing 'You really got me' - no Dave btw. After the song ends Wolfie says "Dad.... hey Dad, can we learn some new songs?" THAT was a priceless moment that I'll never forget!! Oh, security saw the light from my cellphone and I was promptly ushered out shortly after lol.

Most cancers aren't cured. Its remission only. It buys time. Sometimes 2 yrs, 5, or 15. But the cancer lurks in every corner of the body, re-appears and then death around the corner. Sad, but reality. They both knew for a long time that it was a numbers game. RIP.
