RIP Eddie, my former Pasadena nearby neighbor and fellow Dutchman. I saw Van Halen perform back in the day before their fame when they did events for car & van clubs and private backyard parties. Those were the days.... I met Eddie and Alex at their parent's home through Eddie's childhood friend Joe. They had just signed their first record deal.
man, i miss him so much. i watched these vids from this party a buncha times over the years because its great to see eddie all but jamming on his songs like this. thank you so much mike reed for having recorded these brotha, its appreciated. rip evh.
RIP Eddie. We will miss you forevermore.
I find myself watching more and more of Eddie the older I get, a huge part of my childhood. From Hot for teacher to Best of both worlds I didn't care, Eddie, that guitar.......damn
His music gets him the high...on top of whatever else he took. Apart from his playing, the kind of music he composed is hard to replicate. He and Alex's background was formal training, played in a cruise with his father's orchestra/band at a very young age. His kind of music is not plain rock...it is Monumental Rock Music. EVH is the modern day Mozart, Bach, Beethoven & all those musical geniuses of the old world. RIP EVH...you are The Rock!
My house growing up was right above Eddie"s house and studio 5150 , he would sometimes open the studio door and just jam , it was glorious , I was like how awesome is this to have Eddie Van Halen next door jamming , good times !!
I think its fair to say he's established himself as on of the greatest guitarist inn the world. It ok to jam a little off at your own party. Very few men on earth could touch his abilities. And I dont mean just play like him. Just try to write some music like that then make it world famous. Along with everyone who was ever involved with him. A rock god by ANY standards.

Yesh... I always eat a good organic meal and drink purified mountain water before I go to a rock concert. Oh those kegger parties that I played at when I was younger. Yes. We were all sober and on our toes. Yesh.

Eddie with long hair doing a scissor kick!!!!! It's junior high all over again, God love him!
F***ING CAN'T BELIEVE HE'S GONE!!! MY HEART IS STILL BROKEN!! RIP ( ROCK IN PEACE), EDWARD VAN HALEN!!!!!!!!!
Out of his mind hammered and high, yet still a master of his craft. I can only imagine.

That is never good for your health. No disrespect at all. I want all people like Eddie to be around as long as possible.
Same energy level no matter if in an arena with tens of thousands of people or a back yard party. Awesome 🤘🏻
seriously, 99.9999% of players would struggle to do this, completely sober and playing seriously
It must have sucked to be Eddies neighbor...LMAO.

Great job Eddie. Nobody knew just how iconic and innovative you really were!!
what a special treat to witness his stage presence so close in this video...what a special video this is
That was the best solo he has ever played for this song!
The guy singing just had some Jack Daniels and said “I always wanted to do that “
Live your life, count blessings, and do what ya wanna do without harming others. This ma is genius
For some reason, he was on a lifelong. Self-destructing mode and he never was able to get it under control for any length of time and so it really compromised him on his longevity and that's why he only lived to be the age that he was when he died. Sixty six
No way dude, you went to a party at Eddie's house! Way cool!
It puts the lotion on the skin...

Truth is, he was rarely sober on stage. He drank to make himself relax while he was playing on stage in concert.

Exactly I live in San Diego It’s rumored now mind you a rumor, that he was passed out on top of a pile of maybe dirt because the next day the Sports Arena has a motor cross event upcoming. Valerie found him. Don’t quote me on this, it’s what was rumored at the time. God Bless EVH.
Wow!!! Talk about you're the host AND the entertainment for the night!!! Thank you for this wonderful video!!!!!
You know these guys are rocking with "I hope Eddie hires us !" on their minds.
Secretly this is how every lead guitar player WANTS to play all the songs with their band. Constant riffing/dicking around/improv, but.... we don't want to piss off our band mates. lol. This is how house shows are meant to be!
