Edd China Restores This Morris Minor Back To Its Glory Days | Wheeler Dealers
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
Mike got this amazing Morris Minor, an iconic British vehicle. But its wood structure might need a lot more work than he thought.

The whole reason why I watched Wheeler Dealers to begin with is because of of Edd. His brilliance at working with the Automobiles kept me coming back for more.

So right, I've given Ant a couple seasons now but don't care for him. The show has lost its charm. I hope it's an act but the cast him as kind of fool when him and Mike interact. My vote is Mr. China
This my first episode I see of wheelers dealers them I has 4 years old,now I have 14, and I never lose one episode
I love this. I've been very sick for the past two years. Bad times. But watching these old Wheeler Dealer shows takes me to a time when I was care free. I miss flipping channels and seeing Edd working on these odd British cars.

I had to speak to the guy in my town who owned the only Morris Minor in my region . I got sense that it was common for people to ask a list of questions . These are truly rare in Louisiana . 28 years later I still have not seen another .

I would not want to have one , though . Woodies are great looking cars but the amount of upkeep on them make them a giant pain in the arse . Louisiana is a sea level , river laden steambox of a state . I imagine there would be a lot of rot and swelling .
Very brief synopsis... Lots of blood sweat and tears were left out I'm sure

He hasn't, but he has a new-ish youtube channel called workshop diaries. Go check it out.
There's one here on craigslist for like 2 grand that's solid with a new rebuilt motor and the old one included along with many new parts.
Looks beautiful when done!, I worked on a 1969 very rare "Austin" badge'd Morris van, on my channel, a tight budget restoration for the owner, but the van looked very smart when done, so if your into these type of vehicles you might like my video slideshow, of what I understand is one of only 7 surviving "Austin built vans". or maybe the 1974 Ford Cortina Mk.3 restoration of a very rare model version also, which is a vast restoration, very fe, if any would of tackled.
We used to own a 4-door Sedan Grey Minor in the early 60's. Two Adults, 3 Kids in the back and Mum holding the Baby and not a seatbelt in site . And with many Cars on the road with no crumple zones, brakes that fade terribly it would mean carnage even for a minor accident. But we were lucky and cars accelerated and travelled so slowly with Drivers who had to have the skills to drive Manuals(some with no synchromesh) no power steering, stability control etc they drove within their limits.

Very nice... My parents had Morris Minor for a brief time in the mid 60s in Calif.. I don’t remember the circumstances on how they acquired it. It wasn’t this model. It was a great little car..
I had one I paid $50 for in 1973 when I was in 82nd airborne at ft Bragg fun little car. then I got a 440 magnum 68 for $700 if we only knew then to keep all those or buy a cobra for $4k
I am not sure if the " new" Wheeler Dealer program is still on, but I quit watching it after ED got off the show. Anyone can buy parts, but it takes a real mechanic to fix them in all sorts of creative ways. I loved the show when Ed was on it.
*Um belo carro*
Hey Ed,,wheres this mobile fitting service for the headlining need mine doin,,
Nice restoration...a lovely car. However is there any kind of sound insulation in this vehicle?
All the mechanics got older and grey hair but fatboy still has his 'original' colour. The weight he put on in the Ant series is incredible and I'm surprised he allowed some of the video of all the fat around his neck to go out. I love the show and appreciate all the mechanics equally as they all took a different spin but Elvis does stand out for his greater technical knowledge. I watch repeats all the time while I'm eating my tea. Respect to Edd, Ant & Elvis!
The car has heaps of charm, but wonders why a big commercial maker would produce such a labour intensive model?
Big Edd!
My dad had one ion the same colour and I used to spend hours sitting in it as a kid pretending I was driving all manner of places :)
Good episode just one thing it's not a Morris minor it's a Morris traveller.

To go to another level, These cars benefit from an upgraded engine, Like a Nissan with auto transmission, power brakes and airconditioning> I am an Aussie>
Hey Ed, would you like to restore mine? The trafficators were covered over in the 80's and need to be restored to their former glory.
Fitting those rear doors to new timber sides and getting everything to line up nicely requires a lot more skill then was mentioned otherwise a good account of what is involved, but not for the average D I Y er given cost of all the parts involved and what can go wrong in the process.
As if Edd isn’t talented enough, he’s also a carpenter

I had a 1958 Morris Traveller back in the day and boy, was it solid. Don't forget it had a proper chassis. One dark and snowy night I was rear-ended by a huge yank tank whilst waiting to turn right from the A66 onto the A1 at Scotch Corner (no roundabout in those days, just a Y-junction). My car suffered a slightly dented rear half-bumper and a broken tail light. Total damage cost: about £1/10/-. The front wing of the other car was pushed back about 3ft and its lovely twin headlights lay smashed on the road. Total damage cost: £hundreds. Vive le Morris!
This is so much better without Mike. Ed is the true star and I’m always in awe that he’s never left with a screw (like me) that he has no idea where to put!!

HE DIDN'T EXPLAIN THE RESTORATION OF THE WOOD FRAME. WAS IT RESTORED OR REPLACED?
Program went out 19th March 2013, so completed a few months before. MOT 7th March 2013 had the following Failures (plus some advisories) Offside Windscreen wiper does not clear the windscreen effectively (8.2.2) Nearside Windscreen washer provides insufficient washer liquid (8.2.3) Offside Windscreen washer provides insufficient washer liquid (8.2.3) Horn not working (1.6.2a) Nearside Headlamp aim too low (1.8) Offside Headlamp aim too high (1.8) Offside Rear Suspension spring mounting prescribed area is excessively corroded (2.4.A.3) Offside Seat belt anchorage prescribed area is excessively corroded (5.2.6) Offside front brake grabbing severely (3.7.A.2b) Offside rear brake recording little or no effort (3.7.B.5a) rear brake application uneven (3.7.B.2) Parking brake: efficiency below requirements (3.7.B.7) Dangerous Brakes imbalanced across an axle (3.7.B.5b) Dangerous Described at sale by Brewer as one of the best, if not the best, Minor Traveller in the country. Cosmetically maybe. I'm sure the new owner was thrilled

@WhosAGoodDogue
3 жыл бұрын
Exactly! - those were my thoughts as well. Did he just replace the wood with new? Was most of it sanded back a refinished? It all looked split new to me. And as for the mechanical side of the car, I think I can assume that none of this was looked at. According to the MOT database, this car has failed almost every year since 2008, right up to failing again in July 2020. And some of these fails were pretty drastic. For a car that has been ''restored''? So - my question that goes above the wood, is, if this was filmed before 2008, then why has it failed the MOT nearly all the time since then? Here are the dates (as found on the DVLA MOT database: www.check-mot.service.gov.uk/ ) *MOT failures for ''NPE 615D'' up to current July 2020* 3rd Oct 2008 - Fail 13th Oct 2009 - Fail 25th Oct 2010 - Fail 26th Oct 2011 - Fail 7th Mar 2013 - Fail 18th Mar 2013 - (Re test and Failed) 22nd Aug 2014 - Fail 2nd Aug 2017 - Fail 27th Jul 2018 - Fail 29th July 2019 - Fail 24th July 2020 - Fail

How to tell if you are getting old. When you see the letters WD and are thinking War Department.
Be better off replacing the wood with a composite that won’t rot. Unfortunately, it probably wouldn’t look as good.
William,132
Is this now: 2020? If so great to see Edd back without the spiv car salesman.
When was this car given this ''overhaul'' ? (as in, what year did was this filmed?) - The reason I ask is due to the MOT history of the car for the past 12 years. There were a lot of failures on these tests, and some pretty major ones as well. How is this possible if the car was recently ''restored?'' (Failures for NPE 615D up to current July 2020) 3rd Oct 2008 - Fail 13th Oct 2009 - Fail 25th Oct 2010 - Fail 26th Oct 2011 - Fail 7th Mar 2013 - Fail 18th Mar 2013 - (Re test and Failed) 22nd Aug 2014 - Fail 2nd Aug 2017 - Fail 27th Jul 2018 - Fail 29th July 2019 - Fail 24th July 2020 - Fail

See what you mean compared with mine: however NPE 615D has done about 85,000 in fifteen years whereas mine's done less than 12,000 in the same time! It does suggest though that the restoration didn't include the tin work underneath, brakes or suspension, i.e. it was made to look good on top. Mine is the opposite although it had new wood about fifteen years ago and was sorted properly underneath about 11 years ago. It's currently been treated to some cosmetic enhancement to the moment just to keep busy. I hope that my son is still driving mine 50 years time! Finally it's good that the owner(s) choose to keep having an MOT every year to prove it's safe to be on the road: it's not compulsory on cars over 40 years that are not too modified, and looking at the failures and the mileage traveled, it's a good job it was regularly tested!
Bit of a 'mare' lol

This Morris goes back to 2005 for MOT history. And since 2008 up until July this year (2020) it has constantly failed on MANY things almost every year.
