I started doing something similar to this recently for a small grab bag while at work to handle basic jobs without a trip to the work bench. I ordered a Vanquest 9x7 and am waiting to try it out. I couldn't go with the Max one because I use a 8in crescent almost daily. I also keep a ratchet screw driver along with the Icon. Icon is nice and needed but isn't as comfy as a full driver. We have a lot of similar but different tools. Like I have a klein fluke that also does temperature readings because I need temperatures or the laser to point at electrical components inside a start/stop box.

Good deal. I have updated the pen to include a green laser pointer and I added a 6” 1/4” hex adapter to extend the ratchet. Things I’ve discovered as I use the smaller tool kit. The A3009 multimeter has been solid so far too. I’d like to know how the 9x7 works out for you! 👍

Great layout here. Using the keepers to hold the tape is really clever and I imagine quite convenient. That t-handle/ratchet combo tool seems really useful. Wish I had easy access to them or a similar product here in sweden but I can't seem to find something that does everything the icon does. That might just be on the account of my terrible googling skills though. For my own toolkit I also include a small jewlers hammer that I cut down to size. It doesn't do everything you need a hammer to do on account of its small size but a hammer is very useful to have in my experience, even a small one.

A little something to add to your arsenal: I've just discovered that Velcro sells rolls of double-sided velcro strips. Get rid of those wires for good. Stuff comes in handy for a thousand-and-one weird little uses from tying up tools tightly, to jobs like your multi meter wire, to fastening things, to temporarily binding materials, to making fasteners. You can sow it on your pouches and attach things on the exterior, or hot-glue, or No More Nails it. It's great to be able to just rip an attachment apart, or a tool off, and then just slap it back on. The nice bit of buying rolls is that you can cut exactly the length that you want for a very specific job.

Well done sir! My journey to a kit is similar to yours. As with all kits, mine follows my interests. I ended up with a bit larger kit and include the Wera Tool Check Plus Metric. I added the Klein Flip Socket set to get the SAE sockets. That Icon T-Handle ratchet driver is brilliant, isn't it? I like the idea of the full size screwdriver but opted to leave it out and use the Icon T-Handle and driver bits in it's place. To fit it all in I ended up with the Maxpedition Fatty. Thanks for your recommendation on the voltage tester, it came in useful within days of including it! I wanted to use a top load style pouch but couldn't make it work; maybe in a different kit!

I messed with the OC140 and found it didn't offer the abilities to hold the tools in the way that the Maxpedition and similar organizers do. I used my OC140 as a small electrical set with a butane soldering iron, assortment of crimp connectors and a pair of wire strippers. My thought was to not duplicate what's in my EDC Tool Kit but to supplement it.
