my mom died when I was 8 (i’m 13 now), and I’m going to try to sing this in front of my chorus class for a project. hopefully i’ll manage to do it without breaking down in the middle of the song. i’m changing “you got to see the person i have become” to “i hope you’ll see the person i will become.”

Hey Paavv. I know you don’t know me, but I know what it’s like to lose someone so close to you. I learned that you don’t have to move on, in fact when I lost the person I loved, (she liked to cook) I cooked from some of her old recipes, and when I did, it felt like she was in the room with me smiling. My grandma died today. She’s the most amazing person I know. She took care of me since i was a baby. To me she’s not just a grandma and mom she’s also my bestfriend. She’s knows everything, my childhood crushes, sentiments, victories and failures. She’s always there believing in me and keep on pushing me when no one else does. I’ll miss her so much. 👵🏻😭

i'm so grateful i haven't lost anyone close to me, all my grandparents are still here, friends, family. I couldn't imagine losing someone.

when it says "i hope that i see the world as you did" i cry because i think of my grandma. She is still alive and I spend a lot of time with her but she has had many near death experiences and i cant imagine being without her and I really do hope I see the world as she does. She finds the good in everything and I dont understand how.

I lost my mom to pancreatic cancer two years and a half ago and went through the 6 longest and most painful months of my life. I saw mom going from the beautiful woman she was to a living skeleton. Went through PTD, Depression and drugs... I discovered this song by accident and broke down in tears. Been clean for a while now, I learned to live with the pain instead of running from it. There’s no drug that will make me forget her. Life will never be the same but I hope I’ll find a way to go on... Please people, love your mom as much as you can. You’ll never know when she’ll be gone.

This is beautiful. My best friend just lots her best friend Ollie. He was a ginger tabby cat and she grew up with him. He was the most sweet, loving, loyal, beautiful Cat in the world. She made him a video of all the photos she had taken of him. she could never go a day without seeing his fluffy face and she would always talk about how amazing he was and how much she loved him. the other morning she woke up to find that next to her he had passed away peacefully in his sleep. It was so hard for her to say goodbye to her best friend. She said to me that every time she listen to this song she would cry. she cried all day and while making the video for him. She was talking to me the other day and said "Every time I was upset or crying Ollie would always be there to comfort me and to hug. This time he wasn't." that just broke my heart and feel like I needed to share that with everyone. Please give your animals all the love you can as they could go unexpectedly. Ollie never showed any signs that he was sick so it was suspected that it was only old age. It breaks me to think that my best friend will never be able to see her loyal fluffy companion again. Im sorry for how long this is. I am crying while writing this. I love my friend so much and its so hard to get over everything that has happened

As someone who lost their dad on their 21st birthday, and im 25 now, i often come back for music, covers, and community like this. My Grandmother died when I was 7 and we had the strongest relationship ever. She was like a mom to me (My mom is still alive but my grandma was like a mom for me) but she had blood cancer and died in a hospital. One day I was at the friends house from my mom (with my sister) and my mom came in and said "We have to talk where‘s your sister?“ so my sister came and she said that my grandma died. I was crying the whole drive home (It was the mother of my dad) But today (I‘m 12 now) I think it’s good that she dies ofc it still hurts but she lived in pain and no one deserves that. I love her and I know she’s always by my side. I want to huh y‘all you r so strong guys

My dad died when I was 6. Now I'm 15. It was (and it still is) a hard time for me, growing up without a dad on my side. I love him and I wish he could live. But he's in heaven and someday, I'll see him again and I'm looking forward. To all of you I know it's hard to lost someone you loved. It hurts a lot I know but someday the pain is not so strong as it was. I promise. Oh and sorry my English is not the best.😅

I watched this on repeat and cried a gallon tears for my mom who's been gone for over a year. If you lost your loved one, know that it's ok to cry for them and the grief will be there. Truth About The Song: during his concert he said the reason about this song... I was there... he said his grandmother was very ill during his break... he visited her house everyday... one day he went to visit, and she wasn't there anymore (meaning she died) I was crying so much whilst he was performing, this song truly so emotional.

I lost my uncle 10 years ago today, he was my best friend. I lived in a different state than him and he promised me he'd hang on until I could say goodbye, but unfortunately he couldn't hang on long enough. I've had this song on repeat. Ed had me in tears, but your version just hit me so hard I could barely breathe and I'm not exactly sure why. You just sang with such emotion and I couldn't handle it (100% in a GOOD way). This moved me so much and that normally doesn't happen. You're truly amazing. ❤

I lost my great grandmother when I was 7 (I am now 18 nearly 19) it still hurts to this day because she was an amazing lady who cared for everyone. Though she is not my mum she acted as a role model for me as my real mum does now. When I hear this song it makes me dread the future when I will no longer have my loving, compassionate, funny mother around. My grandpa passed away when I was 12. He was gone after 3 days in the icu. He didn’t even make it to 70. It was one of the most difficult things that’s ever happened to me. His only fear was that he would never wake up and see his grandkids ever again. He suffered from severe low blood pressure and failing organs. His heart could not pump on its own and he couldn’t breathe. He was the strongest man ever. For whoever is going through a situation like this, know that you’re not alone and that your loved one will always be in your heart.

My grandmother raised me until I was 14 years old. she died in 2017. then I had to move out of the house where I lived with him. Every time I looked through the window of the house I moved, I saw the house I lived with. and the house was standing abandoned. two years later we moved to another city. I can't see my grandma's grave for more than two years. When she fell into a coma, we were sleeping in the same room. When I woke up in the morning I was very scared when I saw that he heard me and did not react. losing her made me very sad. Although I thought she didn't love me, but I always loved her. rest in peace, grandmother. I love you so much. I remember saying.. she said, "When I die, which grandson will cry most?" Believe me, grandmother, there hasn't been anybody crying more than me since then. i will always remember you..

My grandma passed in October, this is my family's go-to cry song and we all tear up if it comes in in the car then my mom will usually say something like "I sure miss grandma, I bet she's so proud of you all up in heaven" I still cant really think or talk or listen to this song without crying. My bestfriend lost her grandma to cancer too so sometimes when our friend group is talking about grandparents we both know we might tear up so we just look at each other and smile and learn on one another and I'm so grateful for her and my family. Its brought my family and my relatives and I so much closer together and I just know that up in heaven she's smiling down at me. In the end, the cancer spread to her brain so she was very confused and couldn't communicate or think very well but lone of the last times we visited her (she was in the hospice) her last words were : I want you to know I love you. We were all in tears because she passed a few days later and even though she didn't have to tell us that she loved us, it meant so much. Update ladies: that "bestfriend" is actually a bitch that screwed me over then instead of telling me she didnt want to be friends any more just got a new email every like two weeks then I would have to track her new one down then when I finally confronted her about it she told me it was clearly not gonna work because I was too much work so ya we dont like her any more ✌😗

I lost my grandmother when I was 15. She was my absolute WORLD, my whole universe. It all crumbled my beneath me when she left us. I am now 27 and it never stopped hurting. She raised me and my 3 cousins. She was my mom, I always called her mom. I miss her dearly, and when I wanna feel her I listen to these types of songs. This just came up in my recommended videos, actually it was a compilation of the 'top 5 most emotional covers on youtube' and this was first. I don't need to hear the other four. This is really beautiful, it's a great song but you perform it wonderfully and it's easy to see the emotion is genuine. I kinda like the dogs barking at the end, too, it adds a feeling of life going on despite everything.

This Cover makes me remember so many memories. I was looking so long for this cover (already heard it on ig). It remembers me my dad, well he didn't die, but my parents are divorced since few days before my first bday. I lived till my 5 years with my brother and my mom. She was not allowed to leave germany (i live in germany, my father is half german half french and my mother is french)bc my dad told the judges that my mom is gonna to kidnap us. My aunt was going to be married(in France) my mother asked to go to the wedding in france but they didn't answer so that we can't go. My mum still decided to go and when we came back 20 police men and my dad were standing in front of our house and we came to our father. We didn't have any contacts with our mom for 2 years, we lived for 8 years by our dad. Than he found out that we had phones and had contact with our mother (we weren't alllwed). My dad is paranoid and was violence but I still loved him. When he found out the phone thing we weren't allowed again to see our mom. My mom told my bf that my dad told the judges that i would have sexual contacts with norwegian pedophiles and go to a brothel (what's not true and he knew it). When we told the judges that he Was violence we came to our mother and since there he didn't wanted to have contact with us. We saw him maybe 12 hours at all and i saw him the last time on my brothers bday july 2019 where we fighted and i really miss him and think everyday about him. My brother is 16 now and I'm 14 and this song makes me cry so much😭sry for my bad english

Reminds me of my beloved mother who died of cancer. She died in our home in her bed with all of my brothers and sisters and our relatives by her bedside. Crying a river listening to this.
