My mom died in a car accident when I was 3 years old. I was in the same car when the accident happened. My aunt told me that they found me below the legs of my mom as if she tried to protect me in the last moment. My aunt took care of me since then and adopted me. Now when I refer to "mom" I think of my aunt. I am grateful to be blessed with two moms in a life time. Thank you for the song, Ed. I really appreciate it.

Wow, I guess since you were 3 you weren't very sure of what was happening but just know that parents are the most important thing in life and they are the ones that raised you and tought you your ways of life, My mom had surgery and almost died I was so careful with her at the time and I had no idea what to do I was so scared of loosing my mom that I just stayed in my room and cried. Now a year later I listen to this song by my favorite artist and I cry every time, Thanks for this song Ed it makes me feel much more appreciated to have a mom and father that love me very much Hallelujah!

Nikko Angel on dutch radio he said that he always writes a song when a loved one dies. that way he gives it a place in his heart. and the song is meant to be a tribute to that person. (this case it's the grandma)

My mom is, in every sense of the word, a superhero. At 10 my dad got sick and lost his ability to walk. My mom became the provider of the family and worked so much to give us a good life. When I was 12, she was diagnosed with cancer. Even after her double mastectomy, she forced herself out of bed and into the car because she was the only on that could take us to school. Recently, her cancer has come back. Things aren't looking up. My mom always told me I could sing, but I've never been comfortable doing it in front of other people. I told myself that if she does go, if i find the right song, I would sing at her funeral... I found the right song :)

Take it from someone who lost his mum, when he was 9. It's truly world destroying. There's no way around it. And contrary to popular belief, time doesnt heal wounds. But it gets easier to accept. One day, it's going to happen, but keep in mind all the good you had with her. All the times she made you smile, laugh comforted you when you were down, guided you when you were lost. And to top it off, I wish you the best year in your life to come. Keep your chin up :)

I just found that out when I was looking for songs about grief and loss because about 2 weeks ago I lost my grandmother, she was my last grandparent alive and I was very close to her as I was the oldest grandchild. Caroline Triner you should appreciate :) i never had the chance to met my big brother. but he made my family closer. we fight and i feel often alone. but there is not one thing i wouldnt do for them. because i know what it feels like to live with a hole in your heart. and that is the difference between friends and family. you cant miss a friend you never met. it's a big pain when i think of him, but i like it and i will never forget him

I just lost my mom on the 12 of feb, 2019. She had just finished her rounds of chemo last week. She died of a pulmonary embolism. She was at home, like she wanted, when she left us and this world. As i sat alone in my room this morning, this song came to mind. I immediatly started crying. I never thought in a million years this would happen to me. I am only 16. She was always talking about how she wanted to see me get married and have kinds. Now she is watching in heaven with our past dogs, cats, and her mother and father. I love you mommy, and i miss you terribly.

Jasmine, I lost my mom on the 5th of February to bile duct cancer and my grandmother who helped raise me back in 2017. I can’t help but feel the same way. Always imagined them there at my wedding, imagined them holding my child one day...we cannot help what happens to us but we can help the way we see the world. Make what’s happened teach you some lesson, whatever that may be. Learn from every experience no matter how bad and live a better life - for your mother and for yourself. Stay strong x

It hits the hardest when it's your turn to say goodbye. Death is ubiquitous and inevitable. My dad lost his life in an accident (2021). This was just months before my graduation day. He never got a chance to see me in that cap and gown. I never knew pain could cut this deep. Time heals all wounds, but sometimes it feels like time's just shredding me into pieces. I've come to accept i can't shake off this pain, i have to learn how to live with it. What gives me peace and relief is when God took you back He said Hallelujah! You're finally Home. I know he misses us as much as we miss him. May you continue resting in peace Daddy. Rest easy Papa.

I lost my mom to covid on the 4th of July this year. There are so many words that are left unspoken. Everything is empty without you and I feel so lost. I just want to tell you that I love you very very much and I'm so sorry for everything. So...I posted this as a farewell to my mom, because I never got a chance to say goodbye to her and hug her for a last time due to a hospital's covid precautions. I'm 18 now, just lost my mom. She was 50, still so beautiful and strong. She wasn't feeling well in her last days but it didn't seem urgent. My father was sleeping next to her... Ready to take her to the hospital in the morning, yet he wakes up to her dead body. He started screaming and I ran into the room, to find her cold already. I screamed for her to wake up... She didn't, she was long gone. Mom I love you so much may your soul rest in peace next to your beloved father whom you griefed on. Now I grief the both of you, my grandfather and my mom.

My mom died unexpectedly in Dec 2017, 5 months shy of her 80th birthday. I wish I had known about this song back then so I could have played it at her funeral, as many people have done for their loved ones. It is a recent addition to my playlists and today it came up and made me cry ugly tears cuz I’m missing her awful bad. Thank you, Ed Sheeran, for the man you’ve become, the songwriter you are. Being 6 years old when you loose your mum is heartbreaking, now being 14, it still hurts. You've been gone longer than I was alive for. Thank you so much for holding on until after my birthday just so I could have a happy birthday but unfortunately, you died 8 days after, I haven't had a good birthday since my 6th. In my opinion, you were gone way too soon. I'll never ever forget those 6 years I had with you mum, you're my hero. If I could turn back the time to when I was born to do it all over again, I would, in a heartbeat. When you died, my heart did too. Maybe one day you, dad, me and the boys will be together again. Dad hasn't really been the same since you died. Because you wanted him to be happy, he moved on, but I know he still thinks about you. I love you for eternity 😭👼

I don't really know why i decided to write about this right now when it's two in the morning and I'm crying my eyes out but here we go. Okay so, a couple weeks ago my mom started feeling weird and she was worried because of that. Of course i thought it was nothing because she always seems so strong and stuff so i didn't gave it any importance at all. On saturday that week i was going out with some friends in the afternoon so i woke up late like at about 12 pm by my mom saying goodbye because she was goig to the emergency room because she wasn't feeling good. I was kind of confused cause i had just woken up but now i don't understand how that could've been the last time i saw my mom and it's shoking. Also by the fact that i still went out till late in the night just to be taken by my uncle to the hospital cause she was still alive in the critical patients unit and had to stay there for a week or so. She still smiled to me when she saw me but i was super selfish and was mad cause i couldn't keep partying so i almost ignored her and wanted to go home. She lied to me. She told me she was staying in that unit only because they didn't have any rooms lefted in the other section, not because her life was in risk. She told me this after a week of not knowing anything, also by her symptoms at first the doctors thought she had a brain tumor but she kept it all to her self just to protect me. Long story short she has guillian barre syndrome and could have died of that if she hadn't been to the hospital that day. Thank god she did. She is now recovering at home, but even tough the process is slow and she almost has to learn how to walk again, she is my mom. And most importantly she is with me. Thanks to this song and to ed, i can finally give myself the chance to realize the magnitude of my mom's illness and let myself cry and be thankful to god for how he kept this angel with me for some time more. So thank you ed, from the bottom of this ordinary 15 year old girl's heart for bringing such feelings to my life. My life will be different from now on and this song will be the reminder of a new start. Btw sorry for bothering you by exposing this but idk i just felt like i needed to share the impact of this song in my life

Last week, I was on the way home from the hospital after visiting my 97 year-old Granny (she had a heart attack and a stroke at the same time). I went to visit her that night. When I left, I was listening to Ed Sheeran’s new album, and this song came on. I immediately started to cry in my car after seeing her struggling in that hospital bed. Last night, I came home after visiting her at the hospital once again, and I recorded a version that I hoped to play her - she always loved my singing. I woke up this morning to the heart-breaking news that my beautiful grandmother had passed away. Life is not something to take for granted - hold your loved ones close while you can. I love you so much, Granny. May your heart and soul rest in peace, and your amazing memories live on forever. I know that when God took you back, he said Hallelujah, you’re home. Sorry for your loss but you've just got to stay strong not only for yourself but for your Mam always keep them good memories you had with your mam also she'll be watching over you knowing she's proud of you just stay strong and keep enjoying life with your family I've always said enjoy your days as it comes cos you could be here today gone tomorrow stay strong bud ✌️

I just lost my mother a couple days ago to cancer. I discovered this song and have literally been playing it on replay ever since. There's no loss greater than losing a parent. This song speaks to me, I miss her so much already. Such a cruel world we live in.

Ed play with my emotions :) Sometimes it's happy, sometimes it's sad, sometimes it nostalgic, sometimes is exciting, sometimes it's vibey. But at the end of the day I love him the most and that's all matters to me. PROUD TO BE A SHEERIO! 💛

I just lost my mom Monday August 14 2023. This song is so fitting for my momma. What makes it worse is we lost my dad Thanksgiving day 2022 and my brother Thanksgiving evening 2022

My Mother was my world...May she RIP 1/2/2023. Until we meet again Mother, I'll make you proud.

I was 7 when I lost my Mom due to cancer.....now 7 years have passed and it still feels like it was all yesterday....I don't believe that my mom is dead..she is and will forever be alive in my heart

there memories last forever... im 34 yrs old lost my father at 8 and my mother at 21 till this day it is very difficult but they are our angels now ❤ keep your head up 😞

My Mom survived breast cancer when I was 4,now I´m 25 and I´m very thankful she is alive, my biggest fear is losing her
