Ed Miliband became Labour Leader FAR too early. Good see that he is now far more experienced and confident.
Mogg: As long as I speak like a condescending toff, people will be left no choice but to believe what I have to say!
I live 2 miles from Cuadrilla's first fracking site in Lancashire. My house was subjected to several earth tremors, one of which woke us in the middle of the night. Rees-Mogg thinks that is acceptable.
Just saw members of this tory government feature on the Muppet show, it was hilarious, my stomach still hurts from laughter 😃.
Well last time they tried it in Lancashire I remember the tremors, I was lying in bed and the wardrobe shook. How is that safe, who would want that happening in to their house?
JRM owns an investment firm Somerset Capital. This should be ringing alarm bells, that the Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, whose role can change business and sectors up and down, owns an investment firm. In his role to be able to hand out contracts and stimulate markets isn't a conflict of interest or insider trading I don't know what is..
The fact he had a stinking amount of wealth and can’t afford a better fitting suit is just insulting than the £600 million he made in 2016-2017 after the Brexit referendum
I think Rees-Mogg savaged him back even harder, to be fair.
UK are a few tiny Islands and America is a mass of land. If a state in America gets split apart, or goes under, it's a not a big deal, there is land enough for American residents to move to a different state that doesn't mine. Not so in the UK, our tiny Islands are easily fractured and we are already overpopulated. Plus the geologists say that we are billions of years too late for fracking of our green pastures.

His Nanny was not around to do the searching for him. He is just playing Parliament.
Rees-Mogg looks like a throwback from the 50s.
Brilliant news…..Fracking will predominately be located in Tory constituencies !!! They’ll love it. Excellent response to another of Etons finest. Edit….4 hours later. Mogg has done it again , it’s like his handling of the Owen Paterson affair. If Truss doesn’t sack him , she is doomed.
For Rees-Mogg this is all just a great wheeze. He’s truly heartless and the real face of today’s Tories.

Rees.Mogg is gonna carry on politicking whilst hiding his money in Europe, and getting the taxpayer to fund his stately home and his large tribe of public school educated kids and his nanny and talking bollocks until he's elevated to the Upper House, then he can scrounge off the taxpayer till he dies.
I remember the earthquake in North Lincs in 2008. Fracking was banned shortly after. Guess I'm off for the ride again soon.
Miliband couldn't rip apart a paper bag.
Aren't you glad we have this team of highly trained, capable, thoughtful and visionary rulers in place during a cost of living crisis, a major European war and the ongoing climate emergency. 🤦♂️😢

Yes I am when look at the ludicrous alternative.
Given that Summerset was listed for fracking, it will be interesting to see if his constituency is applicable and if so will be used for fracking
Before starting any fracking the company must issue a safe method of work. This is the Law.
Fracking has not been shown to be safe in the USA. Mr Smug.
Building work (e.g. digging in the street) can shake houses quite badly (and normally only takes a day or so). We don't want fracking doing that.
Joe, you should try to get an interview with Miliband.
I didn’t really see anyone get ripped apart, just a debate

@@Maltloaflegrande @maltloaf legrande you are so right about that!! Ed is very competent. His manifesto was far superior to David Cameron’s. Problem at the time was certain portions of the UK population upholding their narrow minded beliefs about immigrants. Conservative Governments always play the race card when it suits their agenda. David Cameron was even talking about returning their boats out to sea until he backtracked when dead bodies were being washed up on the shores of Kos. He did a complete u-turn at this point to save face. Ed had a fair policy on immigration, he was pro EU, he promised to support small businesses in difficulty, was going to introduce a living wage, he was upholding human rights against FGM, etc
Nice to see Ed Moribund is still alive and seemingly back to form. What a pity that JRM is impervious to evidence, public opinion, logic and most significantly, shame.

So what is your answer to the energy crisis then if you don't want fracking? Or are you one of these people than can afford £3500 this winter to heat your home and your not bothered.

@@mauricetrotter6010 Fracking will not lower our gas bills or significantly provide more gas for UK consumers. As far as I understand it, the price of fuel derived from fracking in the UK will be set internationally and so will not represent any savings for the UK consumers. We will not be able to sell ourselves our own gas at lower prices. Similarly, as far as I know, the amount of gas produced by UK fracking will be too insignificant to have any real impact on lowering global fuel prices. So what is the benefit? I suspect the real value of fracking will be to those engineering companies that get the government sponsored contracts and their share holders. This is when I begin to suspect that JRM and his shadowy 55 Tufton Street focus group supporters may have a vested interest in the continued use and extraction of fossil fuels? They are not concerned about consumers. Or, by the way, local communitites' concerns about having fracking on their doorsteps with all the associated worries about water, noise and industrial traffic? The current fuel crisis seems (to me) to be, not so much our dependence upon foriegn gas and our need for more domesticly produced gas alternatives, but the fact that we have to pay gas prices (with electricity prices being linked to gas) set internationally. Hence Putin's impact upon global prices. Fracking will not change this situation at all. Perhaps if we developed our own green fuel sources (wind, solar, wave, hydrogen) that were independent of global price setting, we may begin to have more fuel security and price independence? It would also be a more sustainable fuel source as well as a better use of government subsidy? I may be wrong. I may be too cynical to see the benefits of fracking. If I am, please explain how fracking will end the fuel crisis?
I guess Britain has finally decided to become energy independent.
6:41 Rees-Mogg bringing up the fact that the richter scale is a logarithmic scale should be a very telling sign that he just says words without understanding what they actually mean or imply. All he has actually said there is that the Richter scale is not a 1-10 rating system, but scales exponentially, meaning that the number given by the Richter scale acts as more of a multiplier. The Richter scale is a base-10 logarithmic scale, meaning that each order of magnitude is 10 times more intensive than the last one. In other words, a two is 10 times more intense than a one and a three is 100 times greater. If anything what he is saying here actually works very severely against his own point, as instead of being able to justify an increase of seismic activity of "only one or two points on the Richter scale" he has now very publicly admitted that an increase of that magnitude (excuse the pun) would be a 10x increase. The reason it works is because people won't educate themselves on what they mean either, but they'll very happily regurgitate this information in a discussion as if somehow it wins them an argument. He's just another inbred Etonian ponce throwing around big words to make it seem like his ridiculous education made him less of an embarassing failure. Human garbage.
Go gettim Ed.
