I’d like to see a side by side video of James and Ed getting ready in the morning. I feel like Ed would take 2 hours in the bathroom to get his appearance just right and James would use that same time to eat like a waffle sundae and watch a bunch of asmr videos on his living room floor.

I’m going to agree with that. Ed does seem pretty hangry?!? And there’s definite resentment about the daily struggle and challenges of type 1 diabetes, James, or possibly his body, is certainly the victim of this nagging demon, type1. Even with all of that said, it’s not quite clear if Ed is being incredibly passive aggressive and taking a bit of a dig at James, or if he’s genuinely interested in and appreciative of the dramatically described desserts (puddings)

I went to this fudgery when I was 16, visiting Windsor on a boat across the thames. The man saw I looked upset and he cheered me up and gave me some free fudge.

I've been to that fudge kitchen. It's an amazing little place. They let anyone come into the back and watch them making it! Fudge is delicious too!

Omd I've been going to this fudge shop every summer for years the guys that run it are absolute dons you walk in and they remember your names and they literally lure people in off the streets to try fudge for free and they know you're probably not gonna buy any but they give it away like free babies in China anyway like "try this one! Like that? Try this one as well!" They've actually got such good banter they're such genuine guys there's only one of them in this but usually there's two. I'm so happy to see how they're still at it and haven't become too commercial

Oh MY GOD! The Fudge Kitchen is literally the best fudge I have ever had in the whole world. We have a box of it frozen in our freezer all the way from Edinburgh- saving it for a special occasion! My husband and I saw them pouring it out and working with it when we were in Edinburgh last year- I still dream about that smell......

Great to hear Ed describe Type 1 diabetes as a condition, it’s not a disability or a disease it’s something you can manage, and new technology is helping us to manage our condition. 46 years T1D, always happy to embrace new tech, to put this in context, when diagnosed, I tested urine to see was a showing sugars in my urine, now I look at my phone or watch to see where I am, and adjust if required to keep on track.

I felt so related to dancing when you eat something delicious, even if i'm sit XD

i straight up screamed when they said sweet and salty. my best friend has cf which means she has more salt in her and we call ourselves sweet and salty bc im the diabetic one

I've been to that Fudge Kitchen. I've also been to the ones in Edinburgh, Oxford, Bath and York :D My favourite is the butterscotch fudge - keeping it simple :) Although I do rather like the salted caramel fudge mmmmmmm ^_^

Ed - you always make a point of saying on the Off Menu podcast that you can eat whatever you like, providing you are careful with your insulin. Would be neat to re jig this set up to be you both trying it, but showing how a type 1 diabetic needs to navigate it with their treatment :)

Some would call that loaf of fudge at the beginning an “elephant loaf”, because it looks like the trunk of an elephant rather than uniform and even. Not a criticism so much as just a side bit of weird fudge maker lore.
