It was about the year 2000 and when Ed Roth came to New York he stayed at my home. We hit it off immediately because, I was a pinstriper at that time. He was a genius in so many areas but at the time I didn't fully understand how much of a genius he really was. He like myself had no ego and he also like yours truly let our work speak for ourselves. I never realized how many fantastic cars he created that were still to this day truly awesome. I never mentioned to Ed that I built an international show winning 3 wheel motorcycle in 1970's. I won everything there was to win and also beat the cars for best in show and most popular and so forth. I had taken the my bike out to the West Coast and was working for Denvers Custom Cycle on E street in San BERNARDO. DENVER never saw the bike at first because I was updating some of the parts. I remember Mondo laughing and saying " is that for your 39 Packard "? I didn't say anything but finally bought the bike down to the bar where they hung out. I went in and asked Denver to come out, He was absolutely blown away. He told me that they don't have that kind of time to build something as special as my 3 wheeler. Denver at the time produced the finest choppers in this country. They made their own frame and front end and had a molded lift off tank that Mondo taught me how to do it. I asked Denver if I could paint one of his beautiful motorcycles, he agreed but when he saw it his reaction was " what he Fu.. am I going to do with that "? I said please put it in the front show room window. I painted modern art on one side and perspective art on the other and in California this was unheard of since they only painted cobwebbing, scallops, pinstriping or maybe flames. Denver received many orders for my paint style and I replaced a good friend Freddie Hernandez. I NEVER told my good friend Ed Roth any of this. I also painted a bike but only had 4 days to complete it. It was a bike called the " Half and Half " another friend at that time " Joe Alphabet" called " Ron Fintch" who flew out from Pontiac Michigan just to see my work. He was blown away. Ron Fitch is a master genius and best use of color and design that I have ever know but, unfortunately, I never told my close friend Ed Roth who is by far the most talented and gifted man that has ever graced us with his God given gifts. I now design aftermarket safety parts for Harley Davidson. I give all glory to God because actually I am a moron but by his love and grace for me, I was able to accomplish the gifts he has blessed me with and if Ed Roth was still with us he would say the very same thing. Ed still blows my mind with his body of work and his business sense.

Thanks for you taking the time to read things of our past but still seem to still be ahead of the curve, especially the late great "Ed Roth" I have pictures of Ed and I doing a show from Atlantic City, NJ. Thank you for your reply and information. 🙏

We mostly learn from each other's work but for me, Ed Roth was from anyone planet and way ahead of all the greatest builders at the time even until today! God Bless " Big Daddy Ed Roth who is making fantastic cars for God in heaven 🙏. The Bible speaks of God riding on a wheel vehicle at one time and, it has to be my friend and mentor " Ed Roths Design".

When I was a kid of 11 or 12 yrs old I would go to the car show down the road from my house every year and I would watch Ed Roth paint T shirts and sweat shirts. The man was an Artist. It was the coolest I'd watch for hours.

So spaming this a little as its really cool and i really need fans of this cars help. As you have heared the car is supposedly named after a bank robber. Now when my grand parents passed away we found in a box a old news artical about a bank robber in Pennsylvania that were called the beatnik bandits so probably the ones this story refers to. They fled to Texas but were caught and sent back. Other then that we know very little. Crazy part is one of the robbers has the same last name as our family so may be related and have been written out of the family befor my mother was born. Just wish we knew more.
