Hey Bro...years ago lost 75 lbs on the wonderful Keto lifestyle! So as you know carbs are a no no. Looks like Ecuadorian food is a Keto nightmare lol...not to mention how much food is fried in seed oils. Guess I gotta pack my prep meals before I go haha

It really is difficult to do Keto if you want to enjoy the food they have here that’s for sure. You can definitely find places that sell keto meals but I don’t think they would be considered Ecuadorian dishes, unless the condition for that is being made by an Ecuadorian lol Thanks for checking the video out and hope you stay healthy!

Do you go for the chicharrón Bolon or cheese, or a mix of both? Empanadas are so readily available everywhere and you can almost never go wrong with one. I had actually thought to show the pizza empanada they sell at the shopping but since it was in the shopping (didn’t feel as street) I decided to leave it for another day. I had ever known it was called Come y Bebe, I would’ve just called it a “Salad in a cup” lol

I wasn’t able to talk too much about the specific ingredients since it’s a secret recipe but the components are basically: Chili, cheese, guacamole, and the cheese sauces they throw on them. LOL man I wish I could eat more, I can almost never stop myself from eating at least two whenever I go but being able to go is definitely a “once every other week” thing.

Oh boy, you’re gonna get the judgy eyes if you ask for that lol Ok but being serious, the server is gonna probably be confused since no one really asks for it like that. I’ve seen people get the funky eye (among friends) for asking for encebollado without onion, no cilantro in your ceviche, or adding too much of a certain condiment.

GM, is it difficult to find food for someone who eats very low carb, like me? Super low carb. High protein moderate fat. I noticed that there doesn't appear to be a lot of fresh beef. I do see quite a bit of pork, which is good. Also, which types of oils do they use for frying?

You can find here a lot of restaurants of grilled meat (asados) if you want something low carb, or also ceviche could be an option too. For fried frood, we use sunflower, palm or soy oil.

100% on board with what Yorezz said. I tend to do low carb at home but if I go out it’s very easy to find parrilladas (basically bbq/grilled food places). We didn’t add it to this video because we wanted to highlight other foods for this experience and it’s pretty tough to make a video like this but I will probably make another video like this at a future date.
