    Any company that does not want to sponsor you definitely does not have a good product. I love how you give honest reviews and only promote useful things and something that can actually benefit us. On many channels they will take any sponsorship money they can but I believe you are genuine. Thanks for the honest review unlike my new chance to be proclaimed a “Lord” like many channels have recently started to promote

    Thumbs up for the "I am from California, we have to make our own power". I use a Gas/Propane generator for vehicle camping and as a back up for the refer/freezer. I use a propane buddy heater for camping and as backup for my small 2 bedroom place. Lived in Alaska for 13 years, its good to have multiple sources of back up power and heat. I would like to add an EcoFlow into the mix to avoid having to run the generator 24/7.

I run small generator, with 8 amp battery charger, to charge the batteries, Been doing this for more than a few years. ... I suppose this is also considered ' pass-through ' capability.😎☕

    Casey I loved this video, please consider more product reviews for future episodes, you’re honest which is most important… Just last night my wife and I were talking about one of these portable power generators. I seem to remember your talking about a smaller version in a previous episode which might work for our purposes of a fridge and freezer and it’s on sale now… We’re in Southern New Mexico and unsure of powers outages etc., but the fact remains we don’t want a fridge and freezer worth of food to be ruined because of a power outage.

Covering the roof of an RV with solar panels that feed the battery generator that tied into the propane tanks on the RV so the propane generator comes on when the demand is there.

    One might ask .. what does this have to do with towing? More than one might think. When he gets home hopefully there is power. In videos he has shown that those devices are used for a few of his jobs and one has enough power to do a bit of welding { not recommended }. We all need some form of backup power and other items which Casey is good at recommending things or saying its a piece of crap.

    This is good. In the North East, out in the boondocks, we have power lines surrounded by trees and trees have this feature of falling. We got a generator long ago and it has served very well. The person that wired it though, somehow made the water pump to not run. Yes, I have used a UPS, Uninterruptable Power Supplies that are essentially a battery that comes on when the main power goes out. Technology has made a lot of different and new power sources. Having several different sources of power is good. If I would ever get my own place, videos like this will be even more helpful. Thank you.

    The wattage draw of the fridge times the duty cycle times hours gives watt hours per day. The solar output times hours per day of good sun gives watt hours per day, and that lets you know if it can keep up.

    Great video! I had not thought about the fact that a solar generator only delivers power as needed. We are on the coast in Texas so during our power outages we need to run the AC, so it would tax the output watts. That being said being able to run a fridge and freezer for a few hours without hauling out my tri fuel generator is appealing. Thanks for the review and in depth information.

    Definitely considering the Delta Pro for our RV (Travel trailer). However I will still keep my Honda 2000 generator (mine has the 30 amp receptacle). The Honda can still charge the Delta Pro, and I would not need nor want the smart capabilities of the EcoFlow Smart Generator since many places we camp have very strict generator hours so having it turn on during prohibited hours would not be good. We simply would charge it back up with our Honda during the 2 hours in the morning and 3 hours in the evening that are allowed (assuming our solar panels cannot keep up)

    I spent a couple years living on generator power for work … I still haven’t fully recovered from the time and effort it takes to keep a generator running appliances above 3300watts constant … but man if I could have had a unit like this for fridge and freezer it would have allowed me so much time freedom not having to dock the trailer for ac power … probably would still be earning income had propane and solar battery generators been available at the price they are currently offered at!!

    I just got a solar power setup last year… best thing I’ve done in decades😁… what I found is you can use the gas generator for about 4-5 hours to keep the solar charged (where I live the cloud cover is heavy enough that the panels won’t quite keep up with the load) … yes you still need gas but roughly 1/4 of what I’d need without the solar…. I’ve gotten more panels for this year (as well as a couple battery packs) so maybe I can retire the gas gen to a truly last resort scenario

    I bought the EcoFlow Delta Max just before you received your product(s) to test. The Max does NOT have the 30 amp hookup, so it's gotta be on the Pro. That is a very good reason for me to consider getting that one, too. The EcoFlow River series are smaller, more portable, power stations. I keep one in my car, just because lol. I was thinking of getting one of those for each of my kids, so they can keep their phones charged (or for electric blankets, etc) if their apartments lose power. I really hope people check out your "solar canoe" video! Their minds will be blown with what that power station allowed you to do (ummm no rowing?!).

  • @CaseyLaDelle

    As far as the fridge goes, 5 hours without power is no problem at all. Keep the door closed as much as possible and your food will be safe inside. One thing you can do for free that helps is keep a couple 2 liter bottles filled with water frozen in your freezer, then when the power goes out place them in your fridge. They will help keep the temp down in the fridge and make it last longer without needing power

  • @JohnHallgren

    @JohnHallgren

    @@CaseyLaDelle agreed about 5 hours for a fridge! Around Halloween of last year, we had a storm here on Cape Cod and lost power at 2 AM one night. Didn’t get power back for 56 hours. Opened the doors only once early on to take one item and put in the freezer because it might spoil.. Only lost a couple of items. The more full the freezer, the longer it will stay cold. When a storm is coming that might cause power outage, I try and fill the freezer totally with extra ice packs and/or containers filled with water to make ice. The less air space in there, the better.

    Another good video. frig on gen -- when the frig is not running the gen's gas consumption is very low as there is no load. Gas consumption per hour is huge difference. That said, when my power is off I only run the gen powering the frig approx every 6 hours and let it run until the frig turns off.

  • @poorub

    @poorub

    Yes, you don't need to power your refrigerator or freezer constantly. We were without power for an extended time a few years ago. In the morning I rolled out the portable generator and let it run for a couple hours so we could have a warm breakfast and "recharge" the fridge and freezer. Them put it away and I went to work. Ten hours later the refrigerator was still cold enough and the freezer still frozen. Fire up the generator again and run for a few hours in the evening, eat, watch TV and repeat for a few days. My generator holds five gallons of fuel and I never added during that outage. It was a very workable situation and had very little effect on our lives. That said the Ecoflow is a neat deal and has it's place.

    They've done for emergency power what I've thought is the future of household power. That is to have a battery/inverter set up that the grid/solar/generator kept topped up, but buffered the house from the need for constant feed. Obviously, such a set would be expensive at home size, but good to see the who concept being refined in the emergency/mobile power side of things for when whole house multi-derived source fed battery/inverters are more affordable. My only issue with the "app" controls is do they continue to work when the internet/cell service is down, or being older and having had "good ideas" go out of business, the company servers go offline. If the app can do peer to peer networking/bluetooth, at least when the cell service is down, that's good, if it requires calling the mother ship, that's bad, especially when the powers out.

    I very much agree for this being a great concept for home power, but also feel that it would be a great solution for the EV problem. Vehicles could run primarily on battery, then have a combustion engine generator that fires up and provides power to the batteries when they get low or need a high power demand. Very little fuel could move a vehicle a very long distance. As far as the app.. yes, it uses bluetooth as well and can run the units without wifi or phone Service

    This is a great idea. My concern is the very very short run time on fuel; 3.5 hours. My Honda runs for about 8 hours on a tank, and I have an aux tank connected to it so I can get about 24 hours without a refill.

  • @CaseyLaDelle

    @CaseyLaDelle

    Yes, solid run time is shorter, but it’s not running full time like the Honda is. Meaning the EcoFlow setup will provide you with power far longer on 4 liters of fuel than the Honda will with its larger tank.

    One aspect of using propane is fill it and forget it. No need to cycle fuel during low/no use times. Two 20# tanks makes resupply easy. The only downside is propane is a bit less on output than gasoline if that matters.

    @@gsolo328 For sure you have to do what works for you. Depending on the use requirements fewer tanks might be necessary. Any way you go you will have a trade-off in one way or another beyond what has been customary if considering a change. Space is not a small consideration.

    Great Video and explanation of the versatility of the Ecoflow. I seen another KZread video "Gavins Garage" where he auto started the smart generator with low state of charge automatically with the Delta 2 and app? His wasn't the Daul fuel model. Can you recheck your Delta 2

  • @insaynbcr
    @insaynbcr Жыл бұрын

    You mentioned that the Delta Pro/Max can be set to control the On/Off function of the Smart Generator. I got the impression from what you were stating is that the Delta 2 cannot do this as well? The EcoFlow app that I run with my Delta 2 shows the adjustable option for the Smart Generator Auto On/Off feature. Have you tried seeing if your Delta 2 will fire up the Smart Generator by chance?

    Editing Casey, if your program you use has the ability to add tracks, you add a track above the video and add any videos or images in there and that will overlay them onto the video. I know the program I use, openshot, does that but idk about what you use.
