Ecoflow Blade vs. Luba Vs. EPOS | A Robotic Mower Showdown

Ғылым және технология

You asked, and we delivered. The ultimate robotic mower showdown:
EcoFlow Blade vs.
Luba AWD 5000 vs.
Husqvarna 450X EPOS
We put them through several rigorous tests:
Test #1: Map & Mow: We see which robotic mower maps their area the quickest, and which one finishes the mowing race with the highest cut quality.
Test #2: The Signal Test: We test signal strength by distance for each robotic mower. How far from the reference station can you operate?
Test #3: The Slope Test: We installed each mower on the same "big stupid extreme hill" and tested how each performed.
Test #4: Signal Strength with Obstructions: We test product accuracy through obstructions (like your house, for example!)
Watch the video to check out how they each performed!

It would be interesting to see the robot recognize a steep slope and choose to tackle it at a diagonal thus reducing the slope. Similar to how we drive up mountains.

Great video. Just a note on the Luba, you can change it from the 3 point turning to more of a tank rotate. It speeds things up and really improves performance on hills. It does however chew up the grass a bit more, which is why Mammotion has it set to the 3 point turn as standard. Also, interesting to see the signal test in the backyard. I would like to see that repeated like 5 to 10 times each to really eliminate variables.

To the person who said their lawn looks bad after mowing. My son and I both have Luba 1, 5000s, and he just bought a two. I have it set up to mow so when done, my lawn is nicely striped and well manicured. His too. The only drawback is that it doesn't really mulch, so to get that look you have to mow often.

Equipped with cameras, sensors and RTK systems, it navigates smoothly and avoids obstacles. It can handle large surfaces and has strong performance. So I’ve had the ecoflow at my house now for a few months… I love it. I have had zero issues with the Omni wheels. My biggest gripe is actually the rear wheels getting mud/grass buildup and also leaving some bare spots at the turning points at the edge of the yard. To be fair, I run it daily and don’t give those areas much time to recover. I’m actually with you in the sense that the Omni wheels don’t bother me at all and I actually see them perform very well. Husqvarna generally has good parts availability for motors, control boards, etc., even if you still have to have a dealer "re-calibrate" the mower before you can use it again. On the other hand, the Luba is significantly cheaper than a Husqvarna of comparable capability.

I've had my Luba for about 2 months. I have to say there is a learning curve in programming it. If there is an issue, odds are it's the programmer, not the mower. Keep up with the upgrades. I'm still adjusting to it. I have apple trees, white pine (PINE CONES) maple and oak trees. I had many questions but somehow, it works, even under large trees, you just have to give it a minute. Tiny apples, 1" or rotten ones, it just steamrolls (weighs about 40 lbs) right over them, no issue. Large apples I pick up or rake out of the way to the base of the tree. It has hit a few- wasn't there when it happened- but saw a slice out of it. Luba mowed and moved on. I definitely pick up/rake away large pine cones and large sticks because I don't like to hear the blades hitting them. It won't hit acorns if they are small. No huge leaf drop here -yet- but it did mow the grass under the leaves. I didn't notice it shredding the leaves like a mulcher would, but then my riding Toro doesn't do that great of a job on leaves either. On the plus side, now that I have this, I have more time to rake/burn leaves! I sincerely hope they continue to improve their product. 👍 In the meantime, I'm keeping my rider for the "big stuff."

Thanks for the video. I have som issue with the mowing test unfortunately. It makes no sense that the luba would be slower than the other two with double the cutting width, with that speed and when it clearly was fastest out of the home station. The test doesn’t take in to account how well the mowers cut the grass since the grass was “dead”. If the grass was longer I bet the Luba would have had a much better cutting result than the other two if it finished last.

I have an intricate lawn. I’m testing the Luba. It does cut down the job a lot and does a decent job cutting around flower beds. But it took me a long time to get it right. Even with the RTK on my room with open sky, I lose connectivity when up against the house or under any trees. It’s pretty frustrating. For my house, it handles about 60-70% of the mowing job. I wish it could do more. But a little tree here and there really mess with it’s signal.

This is a great testing idea - how close do they mow to yarge edges and no go zones? They appear to be handled differently.

Sounds like you have a beautiful lawn! But yes, we have heard this frustration before with having the need to trim the areas that the bots aren't able to get. There are a few points we'll try and address. A big selling factor for a lot of our customers is the 85% of the lawn they no longer have to manage and that 15% feels like less of a chore. The curves, points and corners should not be a major problem for these with the exception of hard angles(especially under 90/110°), so rounding them out helps. In respect to your flower beds and how much trimming will be left, we have seen success in leveling the beds which allows you to extend the cutting area bit further and leave less for trimming. While this may not be possible for all landscaping, there are some trim reduction opportunities there. And while we do talk a lot about the maximum capabilities in general size, smaller, more intricate lawns can be managed in the same way, but may need a little more thought to an effective installation. I hope that addressed your comment. Thanks for the comment!

    Hi how about puddles?

Hello. It really depends on the product, the puddle and how long it spends in there. All models shown are rated at IPX5 (minimum) and can withstand normal wear and tear including driving through some puddles. That being said, if you have areas that regularly puddle up, I would recommend setting a no-go zone, parking during heavy rainfall, or make it a secondary area that you manage a little more closely with the weather. Why? Even though the mower might be okay, the muddy, soft ground is far easier to tear up and the mowers could get stuck and sit unnecessarily sad and alone until you can get to them. I hope that helps.
