Let's be real, time gating a season pass weapon catalyst is a new low even for Bungie. Also, the nerf to XP in order to progress the new season pass is just atrocious, everything made just to artificially boost the playtime. I know nothing new here.

I honestly don’t care about the 3 weeks of no content because I preffered the D1 format of content delivery where it was just massive content drops then a month or two until something new. Gives me time to grind for the stuff I want while also getting to play other games and do real life stuff without feeling like I’m missing out on something in the game. Plus when there’s no content and you want to play it’s a great time to do triumphs for guardian rank, try to get certain titles for your guardian, grind for a specific god roll on a rotator for a week and other stuff. I don’t want to defend laziness but always having something new every single week can lead to more burnout in my experience.

@DreyfusLagoon I'm pretty sure that led to terrible content droughts. Especially for the bigger gaps like between ttk and the April update. That's 7 months of literally nothing new besides small updates and balancing changes here and there. Similar story between the house of wolves and the king. 4 months of nothing notably new content wise

@@superior_nobody07 to each their own but I preferred that form of content delivery. There were points in D1 where you could sit and look at your character and feel accomplished because they hit their peak, in D2 it feels like a never ending chase.

I agree with D1 content drop .

The reason why they did the time gate was so we would not take off.... They have data that shows people try to complete everything and then take off to other games, by elongating the season and putting in gates, engagement #'s go up. You can see that in other live service games with mid-season updates, timed events and gated story mechanics - Bungie / Sony see's that this works to keep us playing throughout the season. In fact if you pair this with some of the other things - 192 version of class items (64 each for each Class), 22 red borders, all the Ergo Sum versions and Triumphs (9 GM's, Raid, The Pale, Seasonal) there is plenty to keep most busy for the duration of the season (if you are a Completionist).

At least with seasons we had a new mission for multiple weeks which would carry over to the activity making it a little more fresh. Breach Executable is up there with Seraph Towers as far as worst activities go imo. I haven't done the other activity because I hate timed stuff.

This is why playing Destiny casually is the right away. I'm pretty sure that the ppl who are complaining are ppl who have more than 100h poured into the Final Shape which is the average play time for a single player game yet ppl demand more, from a DLC no less. I still haven't completed all the side content from the Final Shape and have only done the raid once so three weeks is more than enough time to catch up with everything. If you feel bored with the game then just take a break. Destiny ain't going nowhere.

It's crazy that seasonal content changes the planets so often but as soon as you show up on a patrol in that location it still looks the exact same as it did year 1 of D2

Nessus is undergoing massive change.. but we still fighting red legion.. they should have overhaul open world for this stuff.

It would be cool to see if they could ever incorporate some sort of helldivers type thing to the game. I don’t think it would work 1:1 but I’m sure in some way there could be certain events like the activities in the pale hear but all around the system and we’re always trying to push it back. They could keep adding new gear and harder enemies

Bungie always cooks when they’re back is against the wall. The Final Shape delivered so now mid is back on the menu.

I dislike the rank time gate.

I think if there were 4 weeks on 2 weeks off I’d be more of a fan, but it seems like the content isn’t getting any spicier

Man I like the space story we have gotten for echos but this week was disappointing it was so small that quest took less than an hour to beat now it’s done. It’s ridiculous we have to wait 3 weeks for story to continue. I’m not a big fan of time gating but at least weekly I have a reason to come back. I get final shape just released and probably didn’t have as much time but for these episodes to survive we need a lot more content

I don't understand what the big deal is, the numbers don't lie. The majority of the community are likely still working through the final shape content. They won't ever be able to keep up with content at the cadence that the hardcore community wants. For the price I've already gotten like fifty hours of game time. That's pretty good...

Player base is already down 60% from the launch of the DLC. I would expect things to get worse. The game just has no legs and player fatigue is settling in again. The hardcores are addicted and will play this game until they’re forced not to. Normal human beings are moving on to new and exciting things

And ? EldenRing lost 90% of its players since the release of the DLC. Your argument literally has no value since all modern games suffer from a massive player drop off shortly after release. And in that case 60% is not too bad. It’s just the way things are right now for most games. And hardcore players are also normal human being who play different games. The episode started with a mission to investigate the crash site which I highly enjoyed. We had various points of collecting data but we also, played the reworked strike with updated dialog, while we were collecting data we have been setting up the story with the vex and the mastermind behind this....we also played the new vex episode activities both of which I find very fun. Then today we played another mission snd got the first brush with our big bad......I think it's a good start to a story and it's silly to judge the entire story by one act, especially the beginning. If you didn't enjoy the story fair enough entertainment is subjective, but to say we literally only collected data is factually incorrect. I get the sense you already decided this episode would suck before you ever played it, and lo and behold you fulfilled your prophecy. By an objective measure this episode will give us more content than an old season. Act 1 seemed to be a littke more than half a season so with 3 your get 1 and a half season story by old standards which is more than previous models....may even be more act 2 or 3 may be longer who knows. Add in 3x the weapons and armour and the episodes are objectively delivering more content than old seasons.....wether you like the story or not is something else but seeing as you haven't even given this one a chance it would be Linda hard to.

@@SamNo27 I understand what you're saying. Just to clarify I'm not judging the entire season (I can't pass judgement on it's entirety whilst it's incomplete). I'm simply complaining about the slow & frankly boring ass start. We're 33% done with the story & almost nothing has happened yet. The first 2 weeks In particular are a giant waste of time.

This will be a hot take, I rather they take their time. They could add something for us to do in the 3 weeks or they may not. I rather they not time gate it, but seasons were already a dumpster fire as they were within the model. But if it gives them time to actually work on the content then take the time. But they should also make sure players have something to do between waiting on the acts.

If they're gonna drag it out, I'd rather they did the next part every other week rather than waiting for 3 weeks

Its not story missions anymore it just sidequest tutorials with some half baked written turn in statements

The season pass also a issue and should not be Act gated or at least make it exp pass 100 contribute to it until it releases I don't care about extra bright engrams they all repeats anyway

Only caveat I would be willing to give is that because the expansion just dropped, they didn’t want echos to compete for play time too much. My primary issue is that these are still basically just side quests with a couple hours of story that can be summarized in a couple sentences that are elongated far beyond their actual effectiveness.

Upping the season/ep price was a shocking mistake for destiny! £24/£25 now! Shocking mistake from bungo, it’s not being talked about at all!!

So glad I quit Destiny. Bungie never changes.

Whole thing was over-hyped. Shocker. Prismatic is nowhere near as fun/cool as implied. Transcendence is underwhelming. Story . . . meh. Same ‘ol’ same ‘ol.

To give bungie the absolute benefit of the doubt (probably more then I would give anyone else), the seasons that release alongside a major expansion tend to be the weakest That being said, I’m not really that impressed with “episodes” compared to seasons so far

4:31 na I'm gonna say it cause I've heard it too much it doesn't matter how great you cooked the main dish. If I brought you a great burger and then handed you soggy fries, it wouldn't be ok.

I think if we saw the time it took into working on the content that the team of developers at Bungie have been doing then you'd all have something different to say.. i understand that people need to air out their grievances but it's not a big deal. Find something else to do, or play another game in the meantime because at the end of the day, people will still end up coming back.

This DLC is good, however, the content dries out after one month for me. They don't have enough activities after the initial launch content has been completed. If they just went back to D1 RNG and allowed some exotics to drop randomly, I would be compelled to run the same activities over and over like I did in D1. Drowning the player on exotic engrams is boring and most of the armor ones are ineffective, so there's no excitement when you get one.

All the story has been for the past 3 weeks is Bungie making sure we know that Saint and Osiris are banging. New villain nowhere to be seen just Saint and Osiris relationship stuff. Episodes have been worse than I expected and now that I am more or less done with Final Shape stuff I'll be moving on to other games.

I thought episodes were going to drop good chuck of missions instead of doing a mission a week drip feed…. Seems like a worst version of what came before

I see people bitching because the first act was not basically a campaign mission every week. My God, fellows whst did you expect? A DLC like mission every week? Its just not possible, 3 acts will ne longer than an old season but it will still ne the sane kind of materials. Literally every live service gane doed this, once you get past the big expansion the content is doled out at a much slower rate using elements from the gane with bits of new content muxed in, star rail, ESO, Genshin impact etc all if them do this. Because its not possible to release DLC expansion every month or even every few months.....i swear bungie just nailed it with the final shape, no one disputes this, but its not enough. Players are bitching because episodes are not basically campaigns, some people will never be pleased.

Ill also be honest, the loot is terrible too… 180 rpm handcannon with nothing too interesting. 120 rpm scout that has something but not for everyone. Trash 720. The pulse is new archetype so that’s Interesting. New GL that is lackluster. Trace is amazing. 900 rpm solar retrofit.

IMO The final Shape story was ok good, and they made the Bright dust farming worse b the pathfinder, Calling episode instead of season, and the season pass also nerfed.....

I was disappointed with the stuff today. And then nothing else for weeks. I'll keep on though because I enjoy using Prismatic and trying out different stuff. That for me is the saviour of the game.

Honestly the only idiots here is all of us...the destiny community..thinking that Dumbgie made episodes better content then seasons...and yes season's sucked as well...everyone thought they finally got want we wanted...because of the illusion of wow...got an exotic quest...theres another exotic quest...dam theres another quest for class items...which that activity is the worst thing in Final Shape...no game is perfect...but funny how some were saying a big 10/10 and it mainly was the Raid...exotic quests...that made it a 10/10 or 9 by some.....its always the same thing every new first week and it seems awesome then its repetitive in 3 weeks.

It was never a 10/10. That’s a hardcore players review of the game. Normal players saw it as an 8/10 and have moved on to Elden Ring and won’t ever play Destiny 2 again.

You could go watch Star Wars for far less than £83.99 if you like stories. Gameplay is what D2 should be focusing on, and get the players wanting to play for the fun of it. But all you hear of D2 FS is the grind.

Is it too hard to just to just not no life the game every week? There has been soooo much new content this past month. If you’ve already grinded all of the content for act one and TFS. It’s probably best you just take a break for a bit if you’re already tired of the new content. Swear this community will cry over anything.

Episodes suck. The end.

Bungie is the dumbest studio in the industry. They learn nothing from their mistakes. God I hope Marathon flops.

I mean most of their A team was moved to Marathon and Concord, go watch "Concord And Trend Chasing Live Service Games - Luke Reacts" - outside the Destiny 2 cult, their projects are not being received well. They just made another generic hero shooter (Concord) and the extraction shooter genre (Marathon) I don't think is in a very good spot. Sony in general is not in a very good right now. When COD hits game pass it will a force to be reckoned with...

Its mid and for comming immediatly after a dlc mid is ok. Its the other two episodes that are gonna be the real test.

4 seasons, i understood and begrudgingly accepted that the first season was going to be mid. 3 episodes should all be stacked with content because there is less of them and should be packed. There absolutely shouldnt be a three week void inbetween each act.

Not assume that they are the same its not that hard, if the next one is the same then you talk that the format is bad, but dont use the episode tied with a major dlc as a parameter

Do you not understand math? You realize this act is not a full season its little over half of one, but you get 3 each episode, assuming they are all the sane length 🤔 2 or 3 may be longer who knows, so what's 3 halves together? Thsts right one and a half which is half of a season more each episode. Add those together and yes you get a whole 4 old seasons plus a half, then add in 3x tge loot from each season and yeah your objectively getting more content. Plus it very likely this episode will be shorter than the other ones since the season that comes out with the expansion is always shorter and swallowed up by the expansion. I am aware the poster mentions this but he then disregards it so I figured I'd mention it. Even if the other episodes are the same length, I doubt it, as I demonstrated it is still more content then the previous seasonal model. People seem to be expecting expansion level content with each episode and that's just not possible. Episodes content will be of the sane nature as seasonal content there will just be more of it and it won't be so directly tied to any main narrative. Considering this I think the first act has more than delivered.
